Zehlendorfer Hof is located in a quiet neighbourhood, a pleasant walk from the Zehlendorf station…read more It offers a nice selection of comfort dishes, prepared with care and honesty. I went there on a weekday evening. There day had been hot, and getting a cool drink was very pleasant. A piece of bread and olives were complimentary. The restaurant was not too busy, but many patrons were enjoying the outdoor seats. The menu was in German only, and the staff had very limited English (I searched their menu on their website beforehand and Google translated everything, so it was not a problem). I ordered one of the "Old Berlin" dishes, veal schnitzel with vegetables (Kalbsschnitzel "Gärtnerin"), which came fairly quickly, piping hot. The schnitzel was thin, fairly tender, with a pleasantly gritty and fine crumb. The meat was well seasoned and delicious with the potatoes. The vegetables were simply prepared (steamed, salt, oil), perhaps from a frozen mix. A good and filling dish, in a great neighbourhood restaurant deserving of loyalty.

This place opened just recently and offers during lunch every day three different dishes. In…read moreaddition, there is a monthly dish that is served every day. There are also a few additional basic dishes that don't change throughout a year - for example Curry Wurst. The restaurant is self-service and you order directly from the cook. Portions are pretty big and you certainly will be full once you are done with your lunch. Everything I tried tastes solid but it's nothing special. Overall, the food is rather basic and sometimes a bit oily. For my taste, the dishes are a bit too heavy and I'd love to have some fresh vegetables as sides. Still, if you are working at Europarc Dreilinden and can't eat at the eBay café, then this place is certainly a good option - also as it's the only option next to McDonalds. Dishes are around 6-8 Euro, drinks are about 2 Euro. Interior is basic, staff endeavors to be friendly. Make sure to bring cash as they don't accept any card payment.

Best German restaurant in SW Berlin by far, with lots of character. Lots of standard dishes,…read moreincluding an excellent schnitzel and nice selection of flammkuchen. Some more creative options like steak tartare and pork ribs are usually, though not always, on the menu. Service is nice and always accommodating to larger groups. Clientele is usually a fun mix of locals, though being Zehlendorf, you see fewer younger people. I've seen plenty of Stammtisch-type gatherings of old friends playing cards or talking politics there, so reservations are a good idea if youw ant a guaranteed table. Kronprinz also offers one of the city's best St Martins menus (goose with cabbage, kale and dumplings), available Nov-Dec. For warner weather, there's a sizable, but narrow, outdoor eating area.
