This review is more regarding the customer service received when asking for a refund for the reserved room. We asked approximately a month in advance for a refund of our room, as both countries had travel restrictions. We received an email back stating that no refunds would be given, even though the castle was closed & travel restrictions were in place, as nonrefundable room was booked, but they may help us with a discounted room on a future stay. Not that it would be applied to a future stay, merely a possible discount. It also was stated for us to attempt to recover partial refund for our stay through our travel insurance. I emailed again to ask about a refund closer to the date as the travel restrictions were still in place to see if they had changed their stance on the refund. No answer at this time. I am quite aware what non-refundable means, however when the site itself is closed and the country is under a no travel advisory, it is in poor taste to keep the funds of travelers. We had booked with other inns & stays which were also nonrefundable, however during this time they realized that refunding the money is the right thing to do. When we do travel again, this particular place will be off our list as the customer service and compassion was lacking. read more
