But the whole process which has been going on for over a month now has been terrible. Our wall was falling and the steps were separating from the wall. So we decided to finally get them redone. We had steps and a stone wall. We met with Mike and he gave us options of material for the wall. We picked bricks and of course they weren't in stock so we asked to wait for them to be in stock rather than picking new ones. Mike was fine with that. Him and his crew started with the demo. They learned that our original wall didn't have a footer so he had to add a footer to the price. Okay. Not a problem. Paid a deposit via his website which was easy. He started to do the steps. Looking at them they were uneven and crooked. Mike claimed they weren't done and then decided he wanted to bull nose the steps. Instead of demoing the steps completely, he chipped up the first layer and added new concrete to add the bull nose and level them out. They look absolutely horrible. They are two different colors. Not smooth and still uneven. Might i also add that they claimed steps are their specialty. The wall looked nice when they were done with it. But the more you look at it you began to notice small things that made you say, hmmm... The new wall was smaller than our original wall. And one side was shorter than our original wall. Okay. Whatever. There also was only one or two mesh areas for water to drain. Paid him in full PLUS a nice tip. Thought, okay. Whatever. We'll fix the steps next yr. But after our first rain storm issues began to arrise. We noticed that one of the caps on the wall was cracked. Which then soon broke. We also noticed that the caps are NOT secured. We could lift just about every one. Now we're very annoyed. Mike comes back to fix everything. But he managed to make it look worse. The cracked one was never fixed (as of 10/4.) The mortar that he used was just plopped ontop of the bricks and not cleaned up or smoothed out. There are holes between my caps and bricks. We legit can see through it. They are lifted and just look terrible! There is mortar pouring over the sides. The caps aren't straight anymore either. They are shifted when they used to be at least pretty straight. Not to mention the mess they left. Dirt everywhere. Cement all over my driveway that we are now having to chip up and power wash everything. I was so excited to improve the outside of my house and now it looks worse than before. I do not recommend Gallagher Masonry unless you don't care about things being straight, done well and cleaned up.

I'm not saying this to brag; *I'm saying this so that you understand that I know what it takes to be a high-quality contractor*. Casimir fits the bill. I needed my entire side wall pointed for my 3-storey Victorian Twin. I didn't know any Masons, but I asked my own customers and obviously had the opportunity to see work that my customers had had done on their houses, but I wasn't happy with what I saw. So I went to Yelp: and that's where I found Casimir. When I asked on a South Philly Facebook group, Casimir also came highly recommended. Becky is the person in the office. She was friendly and easy to work with. She communicated well and answered all my nit-picky questions. I originally called in late fall and wanted to wait till warmer weather. We agreed on a date for April -and to my amazement, they kept that date for me. Originally Shawn came out and gave me the estimate. Then in the spring, he came out and supervised the work. And he *worked* with the crew; he didn't just disappear like so many "supervisors" do. I was impressed by his professional demands for the work quality. He matched brick colors, used traditional pointing materials and replaced a lintel above a window. I also had them replace a section of walkway in my alley. Shawn was great to work with as was the rest of the crew. In May, I wanted to get some more work done; there was a minor issue with some slope for run-off and not surprisingly, Casimir handled the problem with absolute professionalism. No excuses made and generously dealt with the problem taking responsibility for the (minor) problem. Let me just say, few jobs turn out perfectly the first time. And to be honest, most contractors can get away with small mistakes and nobody notices -but I'm a nit-picky contractor. What matters is how a contractor deals with little problems and Casimir is honest, upfront, and -can I use this word again?- totally professional. It's clear that they take pride in their work as well as their reputation. I have absolutely no hesitation recommending them.

We live in Ryerss Hunt in West Chester, PA. Our house (and landscaping) is 17 years old and the…read morelandscaping needed an overhaul. We hired Froios to redo our landscaping around the entire house and to add lighting for our 85' long walkway from our driveway to our front door and to add subtle up-lighting to highlight new plantings and to shine on the house. We asked Nick Froios to develop the plan and provided our likes and dislikes. Nick came out to the house on his own to review our property and then requested a face to face visit to discuss the plan that he drew up. We walked around the entire house and discussed Nick's plan and Nick made tweaks to better suit our tastes. We were not sure about what to do with a large, oddly placed bed. Nick suggested we replace the bed with grass so that the landscaping against the house will be the focal point. We went ahead with this plan and we are really happy that Nick made this suggestion. We chose sod vs. seeding and the sod Nick used was beautiful. All of the beds had the existing, old mulch removed, all beds were thoroughly weeded, and all existing plants and their stumps were removed ; soil was added as needed and the beds were sprayed with a weed preventative. New plantings were installed by Nick and his team and the beds were mulched. River rock was used at various downspout areas to prevent runoff and also provide a neat decorative touch. One additional bed was created where we wanted some additional screening from our neighbor. We weren't sure how big the new bed should be ; we simply asked Nick to figure out what would look best and he came up with a plan on the spot and it looks fantastic - one of the best changes we made - thanks to Nick. We had 3 large rocks in our original landscaping ; 1 was left in place and 2 were moved to new spots by the crew where Nick suggested they should go. They look great in the new spots - one being the new bed described above. Regarding the lighting - Nick took the time to work with me to figure out where the best, most unobtrusive location would be to place the box that controls the lighting. By walking around the house together, we found a great spot for the box that would minimize anyone seeing the box and also minimize the exposed wiring. All wiring was properly buried. Nick had to pull up some of our brick pavers in order to implement the new lighting. Nick replaced the bricks and redid the sanding and grouting ... you can't tell he removed them and they are perfectly even. Nick's team started early and wrapped up around dinner time over the course of this project. They worked quietly and professionally - i.e. they were neat and kept the place cleaned up. Last day of the job, everything was cleaned up and our walkway and patio was cleaned up and swept. The entire process was collaborative ; Nick was easy to work with ; Nick had great suggestions most of which we incorporated into the plan. One of the best things I can say is simple - Nick listened and understood what we wanted and made sure we were happy. We are thrilled with our new landscaping and lighting and we are extremely pleased with the execution and implementation of Nick's plan by Nick and the Froios team.
