When I shop for groceries, I always use a full service checkout line since I do not want the hassle of self-checkout. Not just because I turn 85 this year but because I have earned the same service as I provided when I worked in Safeway in Oklahoma to help pay my way through college. Anyway today I was appalled by the rudeness of the checkout clerk. She was very insistent that I type in my own Brookshire's points code. After I fumbled with trying to type in the code, I became insistent that I wanted her to put it in the same way every clerk had done for me in the past. This was when she started arguing with me that the clerks were not suppose to do that anymore. I told her that with her attitude she was providing me a reason to no longer do business at Brookshire's Mineola. I advised her that she needed to learn to treat her elders with respect. Truth be told, I probably am 3X this young lady's age. I was wearing a US Army Cap during my visit which had no sway as to how I was treated. I do think that being an 85 year old senior citizen who served his country that the young clerk could have cut me some slack. read more

Just left Brook stupid's Mineola, started with Sweet Red Cherries AD: showed $4.99. Only Cherries in cooler were $6.99 asked stocker, who called over someone that was working in area!? Read ad; said sweet red cherries WERE RACINE. Looked around NO other cherries available: DID NOT TAKE TIME TO TELL dUMBER tHEN dIRT, that Racine is Washington State or Another State were they were picked and bagged... Could be that Brookstupid, ws advertising something they did not have which is per usual. read more

I've dealt with the retail public for over 40yrs and when a customer asks why you don't keep something that every other brookshires & super 1 keeps, like red cabbage, you should say "I'll check on that", not give them 20 excuses for it not being on the shelf. This is directed to the deli/produce. In the produce section, you sell three ready made salads for 12 bucks. They are $1.50 more per salad than Walmart and Walmart puts in twice the chicken. But that's not my complaint. You were out of the small salads, so I bought a large size Caesar in the cheese section of the deli. It was 6 bucks and when I got it home, it had NO dressing whatsoever. Even your small salads provide dressing. That really sucked. read more

I just shopped there with my mask on, arrived around 9:40 pm, realizing the store closes at 10:00, was finishing up getting my items, manager walks in my direction and says pretty sternly to me, "we are closing." I grabbed a couple more items very quickly and then went to the register, the cashier did not greet me, barely spoke to me, she and the guy who was bagging my groceries had nothing to offer interpersonally except what I perceived as a negative attitude, no thank you for shopping here, nothing, then the guy who bagged my groceries just heads out to the parking lot, says nothing, then literally puts my items in my vehicle and walks off, again no acknowledgement of me as a customer, nothing. I have worked retail in college, and I absolutely understand the need to close a business. However I started my vehicle at about 10 minutes after 10, and I could not move faster in the store because I'm disabled. I have never been treated like this at a Brookshire's like this, I wasn't rude, demanding, nothing to warrant the employees behavior towards me. And the manager, the cashier, the bag guy made it clear that they could care less if I had a decent experience there or not. And their prices are higher than their competitors because you pay more for their employees to assist you as opposed to Wal Mart, which closes much earlier now and for customer service in terms of getting assistance to your vehicle which is not standard protocol for the WM shopping experience. But back to this Brookshire's, I don't know what has happened to the Mineola store, but this was unacceptable, especially for a disabled person who tries to shop when it's less crowded to avoid getting sick during this pandemic. Over $350 spent there, and I don't want to return unless I absolutely have to. read more

Wow really changed it is great!! Wonderful produce selection and beautifully displayed . The store was well stocked .The entire store was clean and open feeling . It is a busy time of year but the front check out was efficient. Good job Brookshires. read more

Bought bad ground turkey and froze it in March during covid 19. Cut into 3 parts. Ate some of 1st part because I mixed it with fresh veggies and put wine in it and it taste rank but I could not throw out those fresh veggies. Finally I did toss out the remains. Defrosted 2nd part and put in trash.Plan to take 3rd part back but cant find receipt. I will buy from Brookshire. Let's see if they make it right. read more

I spend about $400 every month, never at Brookshires. Except today, I made the GRAVE mistake of going there, just out of boredom. I get to the register, am asked for my card. For some reason, it wasn't in there this time. I go, "oh... what should I do?". "Do you have a phone number?". But it was to an address 9 years ago and didn't work. "I... don't know what to do then". "$19.99". "Well... it's $15, isn't it?". "Nope, not without a card. It's $19.99". I should have just left the bag there and walked out at that moment, but I was getting so mad realizing I made the mistake of going to Brookshires, i ended up paying DOUBLE on things as a lesson to remember WHY to never go there again. Wow they have continued to disappoint. Now the gallon size milk is just a few days from turning. They keep "Brookshires brands" more "fresh" than other name brands to push their own. The produce is generally poor. Lowest grade meat and produce and short self life because of not being as fresh as it should. Expensive. I can buy yogurt, produce cheaper in Dallas, not to mention other chain grocery stores in Mineola . I can sometimes get prime, yes prime New York strip steaks in dallas than I can the lousy select or choice brookshires in Mineola offers. The profit in groceries is skinny but maybe it's time for brookshires to quit and give it up to Kroger or someone else. read more

I was in town for a funeral. After the ceremony, I went to Brookshires without warning them and Theresa in the Deli helped me to find some good deli platters, veggie platters and fruit platters to bring to the house. They were superstars. read more
