It's pretty easy to hop on the bridge from the Kentucky side, as that part of town is extremely walkable. The bridge has two sides to walk (or bike) on. I'd say it took me about 20 minutes to walk the entire thing, and I saw the cars zooming by, but the walkway is safely separated from the road. I found the Indiana side to not be quite as walkable, and it took an oddly long time to get to the opposite side to walk, but the walk back was just as nice -- and I was able to take pics of Louisville walking back! If anyone wants to take a spontaneous walk or bike across the bridge, this one is a great choice.

I saw my bill for it, and with EZPass it was still nearly $14 to cross. This one, however, if you can put up with a bit of traffic you can make your way across this bridge an onto the Interstate fairly easy. This bridge, on the Indiana side doesn't look very impressive. But once you cross the Ohio River and are in Louisville, it looks a bit more majestic. It does spill right out into the downtown area and makes for a grand entrance. The bridge is heavily used by the locals and people like me to bypass having to pay an unnecessary toll. Noticeable from the bridge is the biggest KenTacoHut I have ever seen... Oh, what? That's the Yum Center...ok, that makes sense.

Lewis & Clark Started here!…read more This is evidently where General George Rogers Clark started recruiting a team of people for discovery that became the Lewis & Clark Expedition. They left here on October 26, 1803 and returned on November 5, 1806. The house is locked, but what I was told is that in the warmer months it's opened up and you can walk around inside. There isn't much to see as far as the property goes, but turn around and look at the gorgeous falls of the Ohio river, downtown Louisville and the bridges. It's breathtaking!!

Pope lick trestle located near taylorsville Kentucky but just inside of Lousiville a few miles off…read morethe gene Snyder expressway. This sits directly across the main road from the Pope lick park and circle k gas station entrances. You can see the trestle for awhile along the main road. So this Trestle is a major urban legend here in Lousiville and has been the subject of documentaries, tv shows and short movies. Urban legend is the trestle is haunted by a goatman or the Pope lick Monster. He will either lure you to your death with a song or hymn on top the trestle and back down to your death. Or he will drop down and handle you slasher film style or something. Now obviously there is no such things as haunted half men and half goats. But people still have fun here. I can remember growing up as a teen it was a popular place to visit and look for goatman. Since then the parklands has bought the land and it's part of the parks system and has several do not trespass signs and a fence up. This does not keep people off the trestle. You can walk up a very steep and semi dangerous hill along the trestle where you can hop on the tracks beside the train. The problem here is you can walk the tracks and once you do that your basically on a railroad bridge and if a train comes you are a goner unless you have flash like running abilities. Several people have died and been critically injured here. At the foot at the bottom of the trestle there is actually some memorials for the deceased. It's not goatman that will get you it's a very active train trestle that will. I've climbed up there recently with my daughter (the gate is pryed open). But we will not walk on the track. We will stay to the side and just check out the view. We stay at a very safe distance. While it may be tempting for some to play the "let's find goatman" game it just isn't worth the risk to me. Overall while it's a fun urban legend it's a dangerous one and when you show up at night it does have an eerie feel to it. I'm assuming it's from the tragedy and not some half man half goat monster lurking. Either way it's a big part of Lousiville local lure and history.

Don't get attacked by the Pope Lick Monster!…read more You go under the trestle when walking or running or riding along the Louisville Loop, most easily accessed from Pope Lick Park of the Parklands. It looks big and old and creepy, the perfect setting for a local legend! I don't know the legend, but I know that it exists. But I DO know the Parklands and the Louisville Loop and I love any kind of point of interest along the way. The trestle is one of them. Cool beans.

It was opened in December of 2015. Its namesake is in honor of President Lincoln and his birth place of Kentucky. The bridge was built to accommodate the public and stress of traffic congestion from the John F Kennedy bridge Now the tolls that we pay go to make the surrounding areas beautiful. Make sure and visit the dedication to President Lincoln and his life and many other memories on the Kentucky side.

It's a $200 million dollar modern six lane suspension bridge over the Ohio River and it is drop dead gorgeous. I have my EZPass so moving through is a breeze. Travel is so much easier in and out of Louisville since the bridge has opened. There are no toll booths so if you do not have a pass then you will receive a bill in the mail and it is a little more expensive. So get the pass! The pass can be used in a number of states so it is a handy thing to have.

Oddly located next to Justins' House of Bourbon and across from the White Castle, this marker…read morepoints out the history of this church that is no longer at this location as it has moved a few blocks away. It is slightly obscured by a tree that has overgrown and needs trimming. The marker has text on both sides. The front reads, "Second African Baptist Church, now Green Street Baptist Church, was formally organized here, Sept. 29, 1844. As was usual in the years of slavery, the founding members had the sponsorship of a protection committee, appointed by First Baptist Church (now Walnut Street). The first pastor was Elder George Wells, 1844-1850." and on the reverse, "The church was more than a religious experience for African Americans. It was also a school, a social center, and a training ground in group cooperation. In 1848 the church relocated to Green Street (now Liberty) and took its current name in 1860. Church moved to its new edifice at 519 East Gray Street, September 29, 1930. Over." It is marker number 1949 and was erected in 1994 by the Green Street Baptist Church, the Kentucky Historical Society and the Kentucky Department of Highways. There is metered street parking nearby.
