There is a small gravel parking lot behind this church and park area. The park area has some really cool and interesting sights. The winged man statue, a tiny door, a cool angel statue, and a nice wooden gazebo with a clock painting at the top. The guard rails had handcuffs attached to them so the kids had fun with that. Tiny place but it packs a lot of cool and interesting sights in it. They also have some picnic tables over to the right to sit and relax or have a picnic. Overall this adorable and peaceful park was a nice surprise and based on it only having one review so far it's a hidden gem for the new Albany area. Cool place that any park or public art person should absolutely check out. I'm glad we stumbled upon this place by accident.

Very cool and unique public art/donation monument in the highlands located on the bardstown road…read moreportion of St James Catholic Church. Not gonna lie the first few times I walked by this cool sculpture I legit thought it was a real homeless man sleeping. It wasn't until I seen the donation box once and happened to read about it. This is in a very popular portion of Louisville with lots of nearby quirky shops and eateries within walking distance. Over the next few weeks I plan on checking out many of Louisville's public art and I started in the highlands. Within very close walking distance of this you have the "spirit of highlands" and "Kentucky rushmore" wall pant murals that's worth checking out. Also only a 2 min drive from Louisville native "Hunter S Thompson" wall mural. Overall I love this piece of art. Cool, unique and has a great cause. Worth checking out.

Our group of friends ventured from Louisville to Bardstown to enjoy a full day of adventure in this…read morelovely town. We participated in an afternoon tour of My Old Kentucky Home and received a group rate of $12 per person since we purchased at least 10 tickets. The tour of the home is self-guided and typically takes less than an hour and then can allow extra time if needed to check out the grounds and/or the gift shop. On this day, however, we had a wonderful tour guide who was impressive with her knowledge about the house and the residents. The house is beautifully maintained and the grounds are also pristine. The visitor center had seating with the option to view a film while waiting. There is also a gift shop filled to the brim with a multitude of items. Plenty of parking. Restroom facilities are well maintained. Overall, a well maintained historical property.

On a recent trip to Bardstown, the wife wanted to see Federal Hill, the manison in "My Old Kentucky…read moreHome State Park". According to KY legend, Stephen Foster wrote the song "My Old Kentucky Home" that became the offical state song, while staying at Federal Hill. The park has a beautiful visitors center and the staff in the visitors center was very welcoming and quite knowledgeable. Unfortunately, the timing didn't work for us to take a tour of the manison (hours are on the hour and last 45 minutes). We missed the 2pm tour and couldn't do the 3pm tour since we needed to be back in Louisville to pick up the grandkids. We did, however, take a walking tour of the grounds and we got to see the outside of the manison, the gazebo, the spring house and the Stephen Foster statue. We were there on a beautiful (70 degree) day in February. Despite today's beautiful weather, the gardens still thought it was winter. We want to come back when the gardens are in bloom and when we have time to take a tour of the manison. Admission to the state park and the grounds is FREE. There is a charge for a guided tour of the manison.

Water it's what keeps life going for us humans!…read more Louisville Water Tower No. 1, began in 1860. This large structure is adorned with an array of varied shapes and esoteric features. It is 185 feet tall. Its a national monument now. You can take the whole tour of the inner island and White House looking structure behind it. It's a beautiful masterpiece. From afar it seems like a perfect light house, but upon reflection it's to pump water from the Ohio River to provide water to Kentucky . This is a beautiful relic from the early days. Its was pumping station No. 3, finished in 1919 to replace the original tower. As the station sits its a large grassy field with trees and picnic tables and walking paths . The iconic museum has drawn many visitors year after year to see one of the countries water tower that is so famous for its period perfect architecture. Now come and still see this marvel .

Last time I was in Louisville I didn't get to see too many sites. I had a limited amount of time…read moreand made my way through the city hitting up the highlights. I wanted to see a lot more than I had time to see and when I found out I was coming here for work, I knew I was going to have more time in the evenings to see things. My work area for this week was right up the street from here. After I was done for the day, I made my way to the grounds to give a quick look around. I was one of two people in the area for the time that I visited which made for an easy and somewhat fast visit. I came here to take in the area and take a few pictures. I would have loved to have visited the museum portion of this, but they have some very odd hours that make it hard to visit if you are from out of town. Something like one Sunday a month. You can, it appears, rent the space for events and have a school field trip. This is on the National Historic Landmark rolls as it is the oldest ornamental water tower in the world. The water tower was almost totally destroyed by a tornado way back and they had to rebuild some of it. But for the most part, what you see, is what was there originally. Completed in 1860 it has served Louisville for years by supplying water to the city. Mimicking buildings you might find in Europe. A tower rising out of a Corinthian portico that holds up several statues. It's a beautiful place to spend your day to pass the time. Beautiful grounds to get your steps in. Benches to sit and watch the water flow on by, and some beautiful views.

Gallopalooza horse statues are a true sign and identity of the city of louisville Kentucky. These…read moreoften brightly colored public art horses have over 500 homes spews throughout the horse racing crazed city of louisville. This particular horse that is skye blue and beautifully designed sits off of Frankfort ave in front of porcinis. Overall it's always fun to discover and find these wonderfully painted horses statues. This one is easy to spot as it sits on a sidewalk right in front of a popular Italian eatery in a hot spot part of the city.

It was cool took us off a little dirt road deplorable account and urban too so it was cool to check out
