We have been dealing with Brooks since Jan, 2023. Always found them to be good people.Had a problem in picking up some lots we bought. Emailed them and they were very responsive and professional.Some of the 1 star reviews are pretty funny. Someone even used the word "Nefarious " that person undoubtedly had to Google that word ! I bought what Brooks called 1950s calendar with Marilyn Monroe on it. I bought 2 out of the listed 6. All sold from $40-60 each. They called it authenic. This was during the opening of covid when they had to go to Internet auctions like everyone else. I had to trust that they would not lie about authenticity. The moment I saw them I recognized they were (bad) modern reproductions worth about $6 brand new. If you have seen their I ternet auction photos, then you have seen how poorly they take pictures. Again, I trusted them not to lie and cheat. I told them I wanted my money back. They said no. Granted it took a little while for me to get there but they had no time limits and I was trying to buy more items at the next auction since I only had 3 items from this auction and didn't want to make 2 trips. They refused a refund. I asked them to sell them again. They took the items. Never listed them and I have never seen the calendars again. They basically stole my money, and ruined a relationship for what? A small Ill gotten profit? Good luck buying fake items from these crook. read more

Unfortunately seven of the items picked up for sale went missing. After over a month of following up with emails (unanswered) and phone calls (no response to voicemail left), I finally was given this information and sent a small check to supposedly cover the loss. No apologies were given either over the phone or in writing with the small check. I do not plan to do business with this auction house again. read more

I am sad to echo what the other 1-star reviews have said. My late grandmother's furniture was auctioned off for a pittance. I paid more for transport than I received in proceeds. Whether this is due to chicanery or incompetence matters not. Screw these guys and sell your stuff elsewhere read more

If you have items to sell, then I DEFINITELY would NOT recommend Brooks Auction. My parent's items we sold for a mere fraction of their worth. Their Items were left lying on the ground outside behind the building for 2 weeks prior to the auction. I believe some items were stolen or misdirected prior to the sale. Then on auction day they sat outside in the pouring rain all day, ruining many items. Completely disgusted & appalled at how it was handled. read more

I feel the need to write a review after reading some of the unsatisfied customers' reviews. I have purchased from Brooks several times. Any issue I may have had is only because I don't go to preview the items in person, and when picking up found that they were bigger or smaller than I thought. My bad. I have also been to many other companies' auctions, both in person and online. There are several factors involved with selling furniture, not the least of which is personal taste, and the ability to pick up large items. I've seen many pieces of furniture that I may have wanted, but if I am unable to rent a truck, or fit them in my car, or pick them up without help, I do not bid. Also, no matter how well-kept your family's furniture is, others probably are not looking for outdated things unless they are truly representative of a particular era; right now what's cool is MCM, but that may change, and not ALL MCM furniture is desirable. I have also sold at a large auction house, and while I was disappointed in the amount my items sold for, I totally understand the process, and know that someone ended up with an incredible bargain. A lot of times that someone is me. Bottom line: don't auction your items if you are looking for a particular dollar amount. Post a pic online and try that first. If you're just looking to unload, auctions are great, and a win-win-win for buyer, seller, and auction house. read more

Bob Brooks auction is the best auction house in southern NJ. Anyone can come here and find a wide variety of items from antiques, common household items and collectibles. The folks here are extremely knowledgeable and friendly. The people who gave 1 star apparently do not understand how an auction works and the risks of selling their items at auctions. Bob Brooks auction will place your items in the best place to help ensure items will bring the most money, but it all depends on who is bidding. The more money items bring, the more money the auction house makes so don't you think they would want to auction off items to bring the most money for you? Of course if you're bidding on something you'll want to get it as cheaply as possible, but that doesn't always happen because if someone wants it as bad as you do, then there's a bidding war which increases the price. If you're selling items to be auctioned off, of course you'll want the items to bring as much money as possible and so does the auction. If you don't want to spend time selling your stuff from home, online, garage sale, and dealing with people, the putting your stuff at Bob Brooks auction is the best way to go because at the end when all of your stuff is sold, you receive a check. I live out of state and was selling my mother's home after she died. Had a number of items to remove and many local people kept recommending bob brooks. Well, it depends on which side of the auction coin you are on as to the accuracy of that perception. If you want to but items of very good quality for little money, go to his auction. If you want to get a reasonable amount of money for your belongings, avoid him. They sold a beautiful china cabinet, a solid maple dining table with inserts and 6 beautiful solid maple chairs for $80--TOTAL. I am outraged. I would have kept the items if I had known no effort would be made to sell them at a reasonable price. My only hope is that whoever bought it really needs it. However, small compensation for family heirlooms of 50 years. read more

I love going to Brooks! They have a really wide variety of items on auction day. They have great preview times, plenty of opportunity to take a peek at what they have to offer and plan out action day. There's quite a selection of antiques and collectibles and of course furniture and other knick knacks. Outside they have great box lots. The competition can get pretty fierce but the staff does a really good job. I will say that there has been some problems with people stealing and taking things that don't belong to them, but the great thing is there's cameras everywhere and the staff is very strict and firm about being fair. There are some regulars that are tough to deal with but if you really stick it out you can get the things that you're really wanting. I will be there every month guaranteed. I have heard some pretty stiff critique about people who are selling items. You have to understand that there is no way to predict who will show up and how much items will go for. Brooks does a very good job at advertising their auctions. There are many professionals that attend every month and know the value of the items offered. I think they do a fine job. Would also like to add that the food truck that comes on site is really great! The food is always really delicious and the ladies that run it are very nice. Love the kielbasa, and all those egg sandwiches. Just a little bonus for auction day. read more

I understand that sending items to auction is a gamble but if I had any idea that my items would be practically given away I would have felt better donating the things. A few months ago our family found it time to move my grandmother into a home for the elderly and had been storing her furniture. I was tasked with liquidating her furniture, which was a little dated but in very good condition. I never in my wildest dreams thought that 3 bedroom sets, dining room and living room furniture would go for $190, leaving me to let my family know that I got $141 for everything my grandmom owned. Again I say, I would have been able to sleep better at night if I had donated Grandmom's things. read more

Do not sell thru these people. Total ripoff. Sold the stuff for a miniscule fraction of it's worth; didn't include anything of mine in pictures or auction listing, so no advertising; sold 40 boxes of vintage radio magazines for $5; a Salviati Vase for $7.50, 1930's cedar chest' 1950's German porcelain bowl set, among other things. Total items sold for: $115; check we received $67. What a waste of time and effort. I'm horrified and feel really stupid. The old man should just retire. I should've sprung for the extra packaging and sold them on Ebay. Lesson learned. read more

I used Brooks Auction to liquidate my mother's estate. Bob Brooks came to the house and started loading up my mother's possessions. I asked him if he certain that specific items would bring at least a certain amount of money because if they didn't, I wanted to keep them. For example, I asked that 2 very large expensive mirrors be sold for at least $75.00. He said absolutely. He sold them for $10.00/each. He did the same thing with dozens of other items. He was completely dishonest and offered to alternative. When I called after the auction to see how they did, I was told that they would not tell me and that I had to wait for the check in the mail. When I opened the check and saw what the items sold for, I got sick to my stomach and got very dizzy. I had be ripped off! I was referred to him by several upstanding people in the community. Completely unsatisfied. I could have had a yard sale and made at lease 3 times the amount that they brought in. Also, the same IDs (people) bought up the items. I have a feeling he had a very small turnout and should have cancelled the auction until it was a better turnout. They were like circling vultures. Don't use them! They're horrible! read more
