The first time I've tried Brooklyn's was many years ago at their branch in Robinsons Manila. I remember it was the favorite of my friend that is why we always dine there. Fast forward to now, many things have been changed from their menu, ambiance, and service - for the better.
I was invited by another fried to try Brooklyn's along Tomas Morato. The facade of the restaurant is quite small and can be easily missed, but once you enter, it is bright and spacious. Service was quick and the food is deliciously good.
For starters, we were served with Cream of Pumpkin Soup. This healthy soup is almost creamless as you can taste the flavor of the pumpkin. It is as if you just pureed the pumpkin. The soup is thick, rich, and filling. Not sure if this is a good thing for a starter though.
I love pastas in general, and I love the variety of what Brooklyn's has to offer. We were served with Pesto by the Bay, and Spicy Shrimp Pasta. Pesto by the bay is your traditional pesto that is not creamy and the pasta have somehow sucked the flavors. It is topped with smoked tinapa flakes. The spicy shrimp is a new favorite. The sauce has a kick but is not very spicy. They also serve generous shrimps for the pasta. I highly recommend this.
Brooklyn's knows their pizza, and are creative enough to innovate them. We were served with White Pizza and La Filipizza. I love their white pizza. It is so simple yet very flavorful and cheesy. If a simple pizza like this can be good, then what more for complicated pizzas. The crust is thin and crispy yet chewy at the same time. La Filipizza, on the other hand, is a Filipino-inspired pizza with loads of longganisa, kesong puti, and salted egg. But wait, there's more, for more unique and extravagant flavor, pour some vinegar on it. Truly, something to try.
Brooklyn's New York Pizza is definitely worth your barkada's next hang out spot. I would definitely go back to try their other flavors. Did I mention that their buffalo wings with ranch dip is also something to try? read more
