After weeks of planning our London trip, I made sure we had a ride over to Gatwick for our flight…read moreto Amsterdam. Did I say "weeks?" I meant minutes. Yes, life sometimes gets busy and you forget to do some things. Actually, I didn't forget, but I thought Gatwick was close enough to our hotel that we could take the tube or just Uber over there or something. Well, from our hotel, it was actually a 1 hour and 20 minute ride. Oopsie. Once I found out, I quickly turned to Yelp. Not too many shuttle services I found, but 1 of them had 5 reviews and 5 stars. Let's give it a shot. I booked it online thru my phone and got a quick confirmation. I was all set. I have to admit, I was a little nervous because one email said they didn't charge me yet. I guess that's good, but I thought they might back out since it was only 1 day notice (if it's 12 hours or less, you need to make sure you contact them). Alpay called me a few minutes before his scheduled arrival. Unfortunately, there was no place where he could stop in front of our hotel, because it's a bus lane. Luckily, a little bit further down, there was a small driveway that he stopped for a minute or two. He picked us up and 80 minutes later, we were at Gatwick! The car seemed almost brand new (and it was a Mercedes Benz!). The ride was smooth. So smooth that the rest of the family had a nice little nap. I think he saw that they were asleep, so he kept the small talk to a minimum. A very friendly guy, though. The cost to get to the airport was about 70 GBP, which is about $92. Not bad considering the distance.

The price for a return trip from Heathrow to southwest London was half of what a taxi charges one way. This is a no brainer for anyone who plans a trip to London or its suburbs. I have never had an issue and use it regularly for both business and pleasure.

Customer service was excellent and they dealt with a worry that I had fretted over with ease. (t was regarding a passenger's inability to walk long distances...) I would not hesitate to use them again, and I highly recommend them. The car was new and perfectly clean, the driver was on time, polite & helpful and the cost was quite reasonable. (as a side note - there is a review that gives this company one star - please do not let that review scare you away from this company. That person obviously got taken by one of the gypsy car services that are rampant at all major airports.)

Since that time I've used United at least half a dozen times and I've given them out to friends. Basically, I like them because: * When I call up, they identify me by name, apparently I'm on some screen somewhere that says I'm a regular customer (or so I'd like to think) * Their prices are WAY lower than a black cab, and very competitive compared to other car services. * The drivers are nice; they don't always know the way but that's what GPSes are for (I would like to point this out to the black cab drivers, who with their elitist mentality don't realize memorizing London maps is dépassé) . * They've been reliable, except for one incident where I got the runaround after extreme lateness of the driver. I forgave them because I once gave them the runaround and they didn't get annoyed. As long as they retain their level of service, they'll have a loyal customer/reviewer...
