Our needs are different and might need a variety of options with time and money to make it more affordable to consider joining. When I would hangout with my friend Because he has off campus (meaning he can leave the building when he's not in class) he can leave and come back and sometimes he is late and they don't care but when they know I'm hanging out with him he was 2 minutes late and they yelled at him and emailed his parents. Very impressive! Above the whole room is a large white dome. It starts out lit up like daytime but then the sun sets, the light fades, and the stars appear. The show, The Night Sky and our place in the Cosmos, was approximately 45 minutes. It was very informative, fun and impressive all wrapped in one. We went on a narrated journey through the cosmos with stars, constellations, nebulas, planets, solar systems, and galaxies. Our guide and narrator, Ms. Stewart (the astronomy teacher), did a fantastic job; she made it fun & you just wanted to her keep going so you could keep learning & soaking up as much as you could. All teachers are native speakers of the target language. There are many options to choose from as far as pickups and drop-off times, so it can work with your budget/ schedule. They will take children who are not potty trained yet and actually assist you in that process! Snack is provided by the school. Lunch is provided by the families, or there is an option to purchase a got lunch from a 3rd party who will deliver it. Around $5-6 depending on the options you've chosen. The summer program is also great! They go up to age 6 or 7 depending on the language. I would say the program is a bit more expensive than others in the area, but you are getting language exposure (and possibly potty training help) so I think it's fair. The school also has several accreditations that have minimums standards that must be adhered to and that provides structure that you might not see elsewhere. That costs money, and it's money well spent. The teachers wear gloves when handing out food, there are always dates on lunches Ave water bottles. It's a tighter organization than some. Additionally, the non refundable deposits are higher than other area schools, but again, the school has to secure native language speakers in all three languages for each class level and they need firm numbers. So read the fine print (it's there for you) and don't sign up if you plan on canceling if something you like better opens up. This is not the program to do that with. The learning is play based and my only wish is that it was a little *less* structured. However, I'm unusual in that I prefer a Waldorf type atmosphere, and that's not the usual vibe in this area were people are dreaming of Harvard while baby is still in utero . All in all we've been so happy with Communikids and I hope they start extending their summer program to older kids.

We wanted to really like Mclean Montessori as a school, however the school has many points of failure. To name a few: 1- This is the ONLY private school in the area that requires a 3 year commitment, in which if you do not stay for the entire 3 years you lose your 1 month deposit for tuition. They say they do this because they believe in their curriculum, but it is quite the opposite. If you as a school have confidence in what you are teaching in the school and how you manage the school, then you would never have to require such a commitment. This is just an attempt to prevent parents from leaving. 2-This was our first year at MSM and we were very excited. We heard great things about their STEAM and technology program. However, the technology never panned out. They lost their technology teacher weeks before school started and never informed anyone (even after school had started). Upon me inquiring about why my child was not having technology, I was told they did not have a teacher. After several months (and per my recommendation) at a minimum they offered coding through some online platform only every other week for the kids.  Though, there was no actual technology teacher to help them with this. The rest of the time (during technology) the other half of the kids just sat there and read to themselves. 3-They had staff turnover and some of the new teachers were not good at communication at all! My child had previously attended a montessori school and her cursive writing was beautiful. After joining this school, her writing skills became terrible! When I mentioned this to the teacher, she indicated "most kids end up losing their cursive skills so it doesn't matter, " "She also stated that she could either focus on the material or the writing but couldn't do both." 4-Field trips (even Zoom field trips) were close to none. Many that they did have were planned by the room parents themselves. 5-Administration is awful!! They don't return emails. If you encounter any issues or have a question the administration will not email you back. 6- Just basic communication is lacking in the school! In today's day and age, when you go out of your way to pay for private school, basic communication is a must! There are so many other options in Fairfax county that I would not recommend this school at all.
