I stayed as a rehab patient in 2002, 2011 & 2016 and found the staff kind, caring, attentive, helpful and the rehab therapists amazing! Nothing is perfect but when I was admitted a doctor took my vitals, reviewed my history thoroughly with an R.N. also taking notes. The R.N. explained the procedures, introduced me to my main caregiver. They did check on me many times each day & before I turned in for the night. Yes, they have rules about bringing in your own meds but the chances of getting double doses or over dose would be extremely high if not. When I had both knees replaced in 2011, I picked my meals & they were brought to my room since I was on the rehab machines so often. But I could also go to the lunch room or dining room if I wished. If I didn't like what they had on the menu I could order something else. In 2016 I came back due to another hip replacement since I live alone with the bedrooms on the 2nd floor. Hostile nursing staff. The social worker is extremely rude and disrespectful. The building is nice, but the staff is not welcoming.

Mother broke her leg and thought she would get the proper care at Brooking Park. The place is clean and rooms are comfortable and food is good. The nursing staff is terribly aparently understaffed. They do not respond to the buzzer for assistance to go to the bathroom or any needs. If you are self sufficient, nice place but if you need anything you are on your own. Mother had to get out of bed by herself because no one would respond. Luckly she did not fall. Nurse told her they were understaff and response time would not improve. We got mother out of there as fast as wee could. read more

My mom lived in the rehab and skilled nursing areas of Brooking Park. The rehab side is not fully staffed, and my mom wouldn't get her medication or help when her call light was on. Once she was moved to the skilled nursing side, the care improved but the medication issues were still a huge problem. Several times she didn't receive meals. I had to be there every day to check on her or hire additional nurses to come in to make sure she was attended to. There's a new administrator and the care appears to have gone downhill. read more

My mother was here for rehab and I feel like we just survived the 7th Circle of Hell and somehow lived to tell about it. (She transferred from Brooking Park BACK to the Hospital because of the poor nursing care here! Never thought I'd say I was *grateful* her bloodwork warranted going back in the hospital, but it got is out of that incompetent place!!) She really feels like the people here who don't have family to be with them 24/7, like my dad and I stayed with her, are victims here. Said a Tech the last night was mean to her and left her standing on her own for toileting, even though she is very unstable on her feet during rehab. The Brooking Park Rehab center is horrible! If the person going here is fully ambulatory, can care for themselves and has no real medical issues...fine, send them here. However, if they *actually need* the services of a rehab facility, this IS NOT the place for them. *Regularly* takes 30 minutes for anyone to show up after ringing for assistance... to the bathroom or any other needs. It took an hour for them to get Tylenol (already prescribed) for my mother...1 had to talk to 3 different people (one of them was Garrett--Head of Nursing Staff!) to finally get it delivered to my mother. This morning my dad asked another nurse for a Tylenol for her and she told him "she was busy right now." WTF! My Mom needed OTC Prilosec on occasion and they never did reach Dr. Kae Chang (who is "the facility doctor" and is never on-site and completely unavailable) to approve it for her. I grabbed some at Walgreens and gave it to her so she would be comfortable enough to eat. One night she was there, a nurse and tech helped her into one of their wheelchairs and cut her leg on a protruding piece of their wheelchair. Really unsafe equipment they have!! (Photo attached) We finally paid out-of-pocket for a night attendee when we couldn't be there, because of the abysmal nighttime care there. Someone simply to walk out the room and track down a nurse or tech. I'm learning that there are a lot of Care Facilities from Hell...this is one! Good luck, and God Help You, on your search! The staff, service, and care are excellent at Brooking Park. Every time you walk into the facility it is clean and there is someone to help! On top of the great service, the food is great! I have gone out of my way on several occasions to grab a quick meal there. The portions are large and they are accommodating with food allergies! My personal favorite is the Chicken Cesar Salad-- give it a try! I definitely trust my loved ones at this facility. read more

Only giving the one star because there is ONE person in this sad place who is there to help. My grandfather stayed one week in this place and the treatment was terrible. No one coming to answer his call light. Skipping his meals and then lying to us about it, just to get called out by another staff member on the lie. Another resident there got into my grandfathers bed with him two nights in a row. When I brought this up to management, they laughed and assured me this resident was a little old lady who wouldn't hurt a fly. The doctors also did a chest X-ray of my grandfather and told us he was in heart failure... we didn't trust these people or their medical advice so we took him to the ER where he was worked up and in fact NOT IN HEART FAILURE AT ALL!! Who hires these people? They also don't allow residents to see their primary doctor while staying here... why?? Seems like they are trying to hide some things. These people are there for the paycheck and WILL NOT care for your family. They will lie to your face just to appease you then disrespect your family while you're gone. Also heard other residents shouting for a nurse for about 30 minutes before anyone addressed them. Very disturbing that this place can put up such a good front. read more

This is a well known name in senior care in West county. I was shocked to see almost everyone from the assistants to the nurses to social workers could not have possibly cared less. I was especially upset with the social worker, Jessica, who told our family anything she thought we wanted to hear and then followed thru with none of it. Not just a misunderstanding but full on lack of follow thru and what I would consider lies to more than one family member regarding the same subject matters. Do not trust this facility with your loved ones. It's a disorganized lazy mess. read more

Neglect is RAMPANT here. Beware of the photos on their website showing caring, knowledgable staff interacting with happy seniors - it is NOT a reality. @Brookingpark staff showed little regard or interest in my father's health. He was neglected, often parked in his wheelchair and forgotten. We know this because we found him this way on several occasions, slumped over having difficulty breathing, unable to right himself. He was there for rehabilitative care and wasn't provided the rehab he needed which resulted in a DECLINE in health. The staff are poorly recruited and trained and borderline abusive. AVOID this place if you love your parent or grandparent. If you want pictures, I got those too! read more

This facility has an institution feel with outdated rooms and staff that is unfriendly and uncaring. If your elderly parent needs skilled 24/7 care do not take them to this place. They will wait forever for assistance and then get the minimum amount of help before being ignored again for hours. Residents sit unattended in wheelchairs for hours on end while the staff chats amongst themselves feet away from resident rooms in loud voices. No consideration for whether residents are sleeping and ignoring call lights while laughing among themselves. No supervision of staff and those supposedly in charge rarely check up on staff to see that they are doing their job. Management is poor and disorganized. No clear chain of command and very limited communication with the families of the residents. If there is an issue with your parent's care good luck finding someone to care enough to actually do anything. read more

I, too, wish I could give negative stars for this facility. From the lazy nurses aids to the incompetent and rude doctor who was taking care of my poor Mother, she did NOT receive the care that we were promised. Our family also had to hire a night nurse (out of our pocket) to stay with my Mom during the night for fear she would fall or need to go to the rest room and no one would be around! In the thirty days she was there she had to go back to the hospital a couple times for falls!! The worst of it all is they sent my Mother to the hospital on July 24 and my Mother died on July 25th. Not ONE person from Brooking Park called our family to express any type of sympathy at all. I think they were feeling guilty! Worst place ever! Please do your loved one and your family a huge favor and don't even look here! read more

My father was there for a short 3 weeks. As a health care professional in aging services, my standards are high. This facility was clean, the employees were polite and accommodating. When my father was moved into another unit to be in Hospice care, the Brooking Park staff took particular and kind care. When he was in his last hours, nurses and aides who cared for him came by to say goodbye. Very touching. Special thanks go to Mike Enloe, Residency Director, who make Dad's transition from the hospital to rehab as seamless as possible; to Jessica O'Donnell, Director of Social Services who ensured that we were kept in the loop on all care decisions, Mary Nardoni, Resident Counselor who ensured the family was well attended to; and of course to Mary Alice Ryan, CEO of St. Andrews Resources for Seniors - the best...always. read more

After rehab it became clear that my father needed more medical support than assisted living, but was still highly functional and expressive. We chose Brooking Park (skilled care apt) because the staff was hopeful that with therapy, he would gain strength and eventually move into an assisted living apt. Unfortunately he was there only 10 days before he suddenly went into surgery for a pacemaker and eventually died in the hospital. But during the time he was at BP, staff was kind, supportive, encouraging, and did everything they could to help him adjust. The communication between staff and our family was excellent. read more

WARNING! !!! DO NOT SEND YOUR LOVED ONE TO THE MEMORY CARE UNIT. The staff isn't trained to handle the patients. They locked my father in a room so they didn't have to "deal" with him !!!! I found the device and nothing was done to help my father. He was confused and physically injured. I was reassured they could handle his needs before we choose this facility. It is hard enough to go watch your loved one suffer with a terrible disease then to have some one ABUSE them is unimaginable!!!!! read more

I wish I could give this place NO STARS! My mother was here for a few hours. The first thing we saw were the employees... Many of whom where walking down the halls either licking Cheetos off their fingers & scarfing down candy bars. It was absolutely disgusting! The room was nice enough. But when my mom had to use the bathroom, no one had come for 20 minutes & she couldn't wait anymore. So, being a nurse myself, I helped her. A while later, an aide came to the room (answering the call light, I guess), she came in & said "What do you want now?" I told her I helped her & she scoffed & slammed the door. But THE MOST OUTRAGOUS THING THAT HAS EVER HAPPENED TO ME... She needed her meds that cause withdrawal symptoms if they aren't taken. When I asked about it, the nurse told me that there was no doctor there on the weekends & it would be 2-3 days before she could have it. I told her that I would bring her med from home for her. Her response "You better not!". I asked to speak to a supervisor & was told I could see one after the weekend. I quickly realized that my mom was more important to me than these peoples idiotic statements, and when I walked in with her meds, I was stopped at the door by the nurse that told me I needed to pack her up & leave right now.
