I picked this place based mainly on its reviews on Yelp, and I can recommend it. Eric and his family took good care of my dog. Moe was safe & sound after staying a few nights at Brookfield Kennels. The facilities are very clean and the staff is very friendly. You can feel the warmth of a family business here. My friends dear dog, her furry family member of 7 years, you lost her in your gate, you stopped looking for her, you stopped caring. You were liable for her well-being. She had to find her down a close trail, with her body eaten with most of her face intact. I cant even sleep at night many times for what that poor dog went through. No remorse, no phone calls to express your deepest apologizes for your negligence. You should never be running a kennel again. What happened here was tragic and traumatic for this family. You handled it so poorly, it is shocking in many ways. For this reason, you don't deserve anymore animals to watch in your care. There would be negative stars if they offered them. read more

We boarded our two dogs at Brookfield Kennels for 6 days.When we picked them up, one dog had dried feces matted in the hair on his back, and my other dog's entire backside was literally covered in feces, both wet and dry. His anus area was red and scraped raw. The owner came out and made a joke about it saying he must need new glasses, because he didn't realize it (the dog covered in feces) was this bad.The dog was so covered in feces that my husband asked them if they had a tarp for our car for the ride home.The owner said that my dog had "sat in his poop this morning". We picked them up at approximately 5 pm. Both dogs have urine stains on their legs. I had called the kennel the 2nd day and asked how the dogs were doing and was told that they were keeping them inside in the air conditioning because of the heat. It was not that hot, and I assumed this meant they were still taken out to relieve themselves. When we dropped them off I noticed a smell, but it was the typical vet/kennel smell of animals and cleaner...when we picked them up it smelled so strong of feces and urine that my son was gagging, and we waited outside for them to bring the dogs out. There were piles of feces on the front yard of the kennel when we picked up the dogs that had not been picked up. We have had to give our dogs two baths and actually cut out large sections of their hair as they were so matted with feces. When my husband was speaking with the owner asking him for a tarp because the dogs were covered in feces, the person who brought our dogs out to us said we have a "dirty breed" when my husband said the dog was covered in poop. My dogs are always clean and healthy looking. Our dog covered in feces when we picked him up only wants to relieve himself on the driveway and on the concrete garage floor after being boarded at Brookfield Kennels instead of going on the grass as he always has before. This tells me that he was using the kennel floor to relieve himself the majority or all of his stay at this kennel. I can not stress enough the poor condition that my dogs were returned to me with one with feces on his back and the other's entire backside covered in feces. The owner and worker just kept saying they didn't know how bad the one dog was. They did take him in and try to clean him up a bit, but this is really inexcusable at best. Update: It has been several days and my dog's bottom area getting better but is still irritated and raw from sitting in this kennel covered in feces for who knows how long. read more

We've been taking our dogs there since we lived nearby. We moved down by UWM but couldn't find a comparable place for our fussy German Shepherd. Since she's so important we'll drive her out there, the Golden goes where his sister goes. We've always had good experiences, the family is caring and kind. I never worry since I had my first rescue and had to go out of town. Large dog runs, it's always clean and they try to accommodate on short notice when needed. read more

We have used this kennel many times, and they always take great care of our dog Cashew. We frequently see the same folks, and they remember our dog even though she has only been there a handful of times in the last 2 years (since we got her). Our Chester definitely misses the place the first few days after we took him home. He missed his lap time and his doggy buddies. He was moping around the house. Prices are very reasonable and you can see clearly that the owners love the dogs. They walked the dogs a few times daily. The smaller dogs were clamoring for lap time and pets. That showed how much love and attention they get daily. Thanks for giving Chester a bath... that went above and beyond the wonderful stay that Chester received. We are so happy to have found this place and would not hesitate to board our Chester here again. read more

We live all the way down by UWM, but still board our dog out here. I LOVE the family that runs the kennel. You can really tell they care about, and love animals. We have to visit New Jersey pretty regularly (in-laws), so my Katie-dog goes here 5-6x/year. Every time we drop her off/ pick her up, they always remember her, and tell me how much they love her, what a sweet dog she is. It just makes me feel like she's in good hands. It's pretty basic, just an indoor/outdoor run, but the runs are good sized, and are always very clean whenever I visit. They also have little cots for the animals to sleep on so they're not on the hard cement floor. They do provide food, but they don't have any problem with you bringing your own either. You can also bring toys or bones, whatever you want. They walk the animals 3x/day for bathroom breaks. I can't say enough about this place. It's no "doggie hotel," but it has the most important factor, which is people who care about animals. read more

I would definitely reivew Brookfield Kennels. I had to board my yorkie for a week, who has never been boarded before. I was able to get a tour of the kennels before I actually dropped him off, and the staff mentioned that small dogs often are allowed to stay in the office area so they're not in a big kennel all alone. I was very happy to hear this, since he would be getting more human interaction as well as play time with other small dogs. When I dropped him off they took him in and treated him like one of their own. I picked him up 7 days later and all they could talk about was how much he was adored there. They even recognized me when I pulled up, and I didn't have to tell them who I was there to pick up. They told me all about the week and how my dog had interacted with the other dogs. I definitely recommend them to anyone looking to board their dog, even small ones. read more

We wouldn't board our dog with anyone else. After trying several kennels in the area we finally found this facility with the caring compassionate people that we have trusted to watch our beloved dog Kacy for many years. We always think of it as a home away from home for our dog . They walk the dogs several times a day and if you have a well socialized smaller breed they let them all hang out in the office/lobby, so cute and such a nice welcoming committee, plus so much fun for the dogs. Our dog, Billie, has stayed here for an occasional overnight. We recently picked her up from a week long stay. We are so happy with the facility. The owners are so kind and compassionate. Our dog always comes home relaxed after we pick her up. We've used several other facilities in the area (including doggie day care type places), and our dog seemed stressed out when she came home. This is a good kennel! I've never wanted to leave my dog at a kennel, so I am never thrilled to leave my dog, but this is as good as it's going get for me. It's clean, the dogs are walked regularly, the kennels are large with an indoor/outdoor area, and the people are normal. I tried one other kennel but the owner was weird and made me uncomfortable, so this was a welcome change. I have used it several times and will continue to do so for our family vacations. read more
