I wanted to give her the benefit of a doubt but quickly changed to the realization that she was just simply RUDE. Train was 9/10/2023. I believe #99. Stopping in Fredericksburg VA final destination Newport News. The way she spoke to passengers and the lack of control with her voice was as if the passengers were boarding a train bound for hell. No seriously she was rude yelling "Last Name" "get on board". No eye contact. Prior to this I was considering using Amtrak to visit my son as it seemed so convenient. But nope, not after seeing how rude she was. Yea folks it takes just one person. As Apprehensive as I was her attitude sealed my decision. Second the train station was dirty, smelly (urine) it literally backed to a restaurant and while it looks like the city is working on the structural issues they need daily attention to the cleanliness of the facilities. I was surprised as to how many passengers came off the train at our stop. Trash was littered all over. Only one bench on the south bound side of the tracks. This is a historic town where locals pride themselves on their homes and historic buildings and this left me very upset as to how neglected the train station was. I do t know who has the responsibility to clean it. But someone needs to step up.

This time, it shows up on track 1, no warning, nothing on the screen, no delay for the train, she missed it cause it was gone before she could get over there. Fix your screen and set up and quit screwing people over. Luckily we were able to get a refund, but still! Now again, today, 6/24/2025. Train arrival time was 4:07. So ive been here since. Mom calls me and said, they just let everyone know, that it won't be until about 6/630. Wonder how many other people are here waiting to pick up there person at 4:07 and now have to wait till 6. Communication is unacceptable. I understand its hot, but it was hot at 9am this morning, before the train even left, couldve been told something then. Terrible Communication, different tracks than said it would be, people missed trains and instead of giving time to switch, they just dip out. Always late and delayed every time she gets the train. I understand things happen, but seems like amcrap needs to assess how they do things and fix them. They've lost a customer and hopefully they'll lose more, with thi ms review. Save yourself the hassle, find another way, amcrap is crap! Only gave 1 star cause its making me, this is a 0 star company.

We managed to avoid a parking ticket. Parking here is $20 and it's valid for three days. That's not at all reasonable but it's a small town and busy with tourists who are willing to pay. We *just* missed a train coming through today. I don't know where they post the schedule. [Review 1034 of 2025 - 189 in West Virginia - 24588 overall]

It is at the lower elevation and to the north of the town. When we visited, it was unattended and there were no staff inside. The restrooms were open and in decent shape, located on the west side of the building. It is a long building with 3-4 large rooms made of light wood with historical pictures on the walls. Parking is available in the lot that surrounds the station, though it depends on what is open at the time and how busy the area is. Many other visitors noted in their reviews that the building is not open at night and operates on a very limited schedule. A little research shows that Amtrak and MARC trains both serve this station. Throughout the day my party and I observed trains passing through without stopping, giving visitors a sense of how active the rail line still is. Overall, it is worth seeing for its historic look, but travelers should plan ahead since services are limited and the station may not be staffed. Up the hill to the south is the town and down the hill to the east visitors can view the Armory grounds, River overlook, and John Brown's fort.
