They will be cherished forever. I contacted Shelly Mother's Day weekend last year. Grandpa got a shocking bone marrow cancer diagnosis a couple days before and was going in the hospital that Monday for treatment. Life and looks were about to change dramatically. Things were moving fast, and we wanted to get family pictures. I reached out to Shelly and explained the situation. With no time to go shopping and plan. Shelly was very helpful offering advice on what to look for in our closet. On a rainy, drizzling, holiday Shelly took fabulous pictures. She was quick, which was great because Grandpa didn't have a lot of energy. She captured my parents, my kids with Grandpa, myself with Grandpa, and the whole family. All the pictures captured character and happiness! It was great that we got to see the pictures right away online and print them. It was the best thing for our situation. Shelly is reasonably priced. If you go with her you will be happy with your decision. I can't tell you how much happiness and support those pictures have given my family. These pictures would not have been possible without Shelly. She is not only talented but her willingness to help accommodate strangers in need on a holiday was beyond kind. Thank you Shelly! What a gift you are!

My husband and I hired Mieke for our wedding at SF city hall and the pictures came out AMAZING!…read more I'm constantly getting complements on the photography, like I had anything to do with how awesome they came out :) Originally I wasn't sure I wanted a photog since we were having a small wedding with a small budget, but my sister-in-law had just gotten married and was photographed by Mieke and she said I had to hire Mieke...so really this is a 5 star review for TWO weddings :) VERY glad I did, probably the best wedding money spent cause the day goes so fast and the pictures are all you have. Mieke was very easy to get a hold of and discuss exactly what I wanted. We communicated mostly thru email to discuss what I wanted and budgeting and then I sent her a pinterest page of the style i liked. I was comforted that mine wasn't Mieke's first city hall wedding and she already knew her way around and directed us to all the beautiful spots she knew about...made it much easier and made me feel confident we got a good range of locations and poses. Also Mieke made me feel very comfortable, which was nice cause I don't really like having my picture taken...she made it very painless :) After the wedding Mieke also sent us some sneak-peek photos that got us really excited and was nice so i could send some around to friends/family. The rest of the photos came not long afterwards, both online and on a DVD. One thing I really liked about Mieke's photos also was that she made some black and white, which made them so cool looking. Honestly I love my wedding photos, money well spent, Mieke was awesome, cant wait to share them all!

This was not only because I am incredibly picky, but I also don't love getting my picture taken. So, I put it off as long as I could. However, from the very beginning, Mieke put my mind at ease. She gave us excellent direction around what to consider before the shoot: the scenery, what we should/shouldn't wear and what vibe we wanted. Not only was the advice super helpful, but the day-of the shoot, she was very calming. She photographed us in such a natural way that it didn't feel forced, and the photos came out beautifully! We also had a blast with Mieke; she made us laugh and was extremely personable. After the engagement photos, Mieke checked in from time to time about the wedding, which was perfect, because I was a disorganized mess. She was super patient when I went back and forth on the wedding start time (trying to figure out how to get the most golden hour light) and was so helpful, telling me when the sun would set and helping me figure out how much time we'd have. It was such a relief to have her guidance. On the day of the wedding, we were, of course, behind schedule. Mieke was again so incredibly patient and calm. It helped keep the mood mellow. She went with the flow of the day, smiling the whole time. Her assistant photographer, David, was equally as calm and fun as Mieke. Having the two of them helped capture the wedding from so many different angles, as well as both parties getting ready. The end result was beautiful! Mieke had wonderful impromptu photos of us and the guests, and had a wonderful, softness on all the photos. We love every one of them! We will definitely use Mieke for any other photography sessions we need in the future.

I have referred her to friends for photo sessions and she has photographed my family as well. This review focuses on another of Maxine's expertise. She enjoys to create and design special projects. I can only rave about the unique and magnificent wall design she put together for my hallway. I want to give Maxine a round of applause for photographing the covers of my 250 LP albums from the 60's 70's and 80's. She then designed the layout and selected material for final product. See Below. If you need someone to work with you on photos of your family (friends, animals), help with figuring out computer issues and especially have someone with a creative brain work with you on special projects, I cannot be more enthusiastic to recommend Maxine.

WOW....What and where do I begin…read more.... I recently got married and in my previous years planning I came across Maxine Arton photography through a friend. I reached out to Maxine about 7 months prior to my wedding. She was available and after a few short emails...I hired her. She directed me to her website to view her work and then we worked out a quote for my special day....it was a price that I could afford....I had asked a few of the other "Google" recommendations and they darn near made me faint:( A few months before my wedding day, Maxine and I met and she asked a bunch of questions about me and my fiance, how we met, our relationship, our family situations, and most of all....how and what I wanted to capture on my special day! She was extremely thorough and made me feel at ease about hiring her to be the photographer of my wedding! A few weeks before my wedding she asked if we wanted photos of our pre wedding events.....save the date, shower, bachelor (ette) parties etc....as we didn't do any of those things....we didn't need her. I asked her if that would cost more and she said it was all part of her " wedding package". Nearing our day, Maxine met with my fiance and I and we went over the pictures that we wanted, she made a spreadsheet of our families, the pre ceremony pics, and asked a ton of questions about what I wanted...uh duh...I dunno....just shoot what you think is pertinent to wedding photos....geez I felt like the most unorganized bride....but she assured us and made us feel so at ease. She listened to our basic desires and assured us that she would capture all of the special moments, whether we knew we needed them or not. She said, not to worry "I got it" and would produce everything. She asked if I wanted a video of the ceremony and the reception, I said sure! She provided a video camera and ensured that it would be set up for the ceremony. She worked all alone and I wasn't sure how or when she'd be able to take a video, but once again she assured me it will all be great! For the rehearsal dinner, Maxine was there, which I didn't expect! She captured all of the special moments between our parents and my siblings, I was not expecting that. She shot so many rehearsal dinner pics that I was not even thinking I would have wanted to see later, it was so special and an added touch that I hadn't even thought (once again) that I'd have wanted. Come wedding day.....Maxine was there....before I had even woken up to begin thinking about what I should be doing!! She took pics of my shoes, rings, boquet, little things.... invites, table place cards, ceremony setup, gosh....so many memories, I am SO grateful that I hired her!!! From that morning forward, Maxine was shooting, snapping, in and out of my room and my fiances room. She was like a ninja, I didn't even know she was there sometimes. She shot our WHOLE day....from me getting ready to our sparkler send off! I can't say enough great things about Maxine. A consummate pro, her photos are amazing!!!! THANK YOU Maxine for capturing our special day!! Your photos helped to fulfill our memories and we will forever be grateful for your above and beyond effort!!

We strongly recommend them for your wedding. David and Kim are full of great, positive energy. We found it really fun to work with them and they got along great with our families. Our wedding combined American, Indian, and Korean traditions and cultures. It was important for us to have photographers that were willing to learn about these cultures and capture them at their best. David and Kim were enthusiastic to learn about our cultures and it certainly showed in the final product. David and Kim are a husband a wife team. When you hire them you get two very skilled photographers who work together extremely well to capture two angles of every moment. They can be in two places at once and the final photos we received did not miss a single moment. We were really pleased with their system of a 2-hour engagement photo session (included in the price) several months prior to the wedding. This allowed David and Kim to get to know our personalities prior to the wedding day. From the engagement pictures we were able to provide feedback as to the types of photos we really liked and the types or poses we did not care for. The engagement photo session was a real blast for us. We brought our dog along and David and Kim captured some really great moments with our dog on the beach. (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/366HPgT8NqrF3cR0P0NgHQ?select=goARfRivpoFzAL0mQNjPgQ) David and Kim are very professional in their actions and communication. From our initial consultation meeting, to contract signing, to engagement photos, to the wedding day, they were focused first on customer service. They were flexible in scheduling our engagement session which we appreciated. We only had David and Kim provide us with digital photos, we did not have them make us an album (a holiday project of ours) though the samples they showed us were superb.
