Bugs, leaky ceiling, inadequate staff, etc. Why pay for this? This has been a three year experience for our family. Time to leave.

Long story but he is lazy, unresponsive and unhelpful. The phone passes to the bistro and they can't help nor transfer the call to the receptionist. The receptionist is ill equipped at best and transfers the call to the manager, Juan, who either ignores the call or just doesn't care or work his shift. I needed simple stuff and got no response. Time to let that dude go. It's a difficult job, but it's not getting done. I will recommend the place when they set the manager straight. It's sad.

Since then, grandpa has passed but before then the staff at Fairwinds worked so that he could stay there and be cared for. They took such good care of him and he loved the staff. Now, it is just my grandma and she continues to do so well and receive amazing care. It allows her whole family to rest assured that she is ok. I can't say enough about the staff, from the front desk, maintenance, the restaurant, events, etc. they are all amazing and so good to my grandma. Plus, the nursing and aid staff are fabulous to her. I go and visit her there at least twice a week and can attest to the fact that this is a great place for anyone who has someone that is in need of help to ensure they can live independently and safely. They have tons of things for her to do and activities to take part in. Finally, the food and menu is actually really great and the wait staff is even better!

My in laws moved into Desert Springs 6 months ago. There have been THREE managers in that time. I'm told they've had a dozen managers in four years. One of the biggest complaints is with meals. They are consistently understaffed and have a lot of turnover. We stayed over the holidays and it wasn't uncommon to sit for over an hour before getting a very mediocre meal. It takes an average of an hour and a half and often two or more hours to eat! It's ridiculous. Mybin kaws said that they're being told the facility is trying to get volunteers? Volunteers? This is an expensive privately run facility. How about they hire and pay staff to take care of their cli

I always look forward to their meals. I think they are moderately priced for guests. There is always a nice selection of menu items, well prepared and tasty. The servers, usually young ladies, are very pleasant. In terms of wait time, I've never waited longer than a few minutes to place an order or to be served. It may help to get a feel for the rhythm of the place, like anywhere. For example, they don't take orders and serve from everywhere in the dining room at once, like a restaurant, because it's too inefficient. They take orders and serve from one end of the dining room to the other using carts, as you might expect. So it helps to understand which end of the dining room is being served first for a given meal; the schedule varies but it is patterned. Take away: good idea to think through where in the room you want to sit. Since the serving pattern isn't kept secret, you'll also need to arrive early enough to sit there. Desert Springs is a nice facility. I understand that they have had high turnover for managerial staff. I don't see effects of it upon what residents experience. My in-laws love it there.

He has really changed the facility for the better. Always open to new ideas, he has implemented many of them, and the facility has done a total turn around since my mom has been here. The caregivers are super, and are truly caregivers, who care. Most go above and beyond the basic caregiving duties to make the residents feel at home, and loved. I am up there several times a week, and witness this first hand. From doing the residents hair, and nails, to lots of hugs, they are fantastic! The medical staff is also excellent. My mom has had several issues while there, and they always listen to what we have to say, and take over from there, always with her best interest at heart. The activities are too numerous to list. The residents are encouraged to participate, and there is just about something for everyone. Teri is always coming up with new ideas, both in facility, and excursions outside the facility, to try to accommodate everyone. She is also open to new ideas from residents and families, and does a super job. The food is also very good, and the new chef Brian, does a great job trying to accommodate everyone's tastes, and needs. My mom is on puréed food now, and he has been extremely accomadating to make her food taste good, as well as be nutritious. Very open to residents input, as well as families, he tries very hard to make the food look, and taste delicious, a tough job when dealing with so many different tastes, and people. They are also pet friendly, as I bring my dog whenever I come, and the residents love it! They have a therapy dog that comes in on Fridays, and horses that come on twice a month on Mondays. I am sure I may have missed something, but overall, it is a great, caring place for your loved one.
