Haven't been here for a while. I will say that for my boxer mix, the doctor did an amazing surgery on her knee that allowed her to keep running until her battle with an aggressive skin Cancer claimed her this past October. The place is not two close to me and use to bring my animals there when visiting family, but since that family member moved I have not used them. I get prices going up so they have to raise their prices to keep up and running, but found this place to be very caring of all my animals I brought, and like I said, managed to do a successful surgery that was not the norm for my boxer mix. read more

Brook Farm is not our dog's regular vet (so I cannot speak about annual check-up's) but we have used Brook Farm in the past when our dog came down with a bad virus and they were very attentive and thorough. They even saw and treated our dog in the evening during a snow storm. We recently had to board our dog for the first time and decided to go with Brook Farm. Our dog can be very anxious in new situations and we wanted to make sure she would be in enclosed areas, away from other dogs (she can be skittish with other canine) with trained staff. Brook Farm did not disappoint. While our dog was happy to be reunited with us, you could tell she felt safe and was well taken care of during her stay. I had been a customer here from 2001-2015 with our previous dog and the service with Dr. K was fantastic. So this summer I adopted a new dog I of course thought of Brookfarm. Unfortunately their quality has gone down hill. I'm not sure if it's due to COVID or just general changes in the organization over the past 5 years, however the three routine visits left me feeling meh and the from the last visit frustrated and disappointed. The last visit I was given the wrong prescription, told they could match Chewy's online price and instead of being refunded for the difference was charged AGAIN for the whole visit and the wrong prescription! I've called back 4+ times (each time waiting on hold for 20+ minutes) to be told they have to transfer me to someone else who never seems to be there or that it will be taken care of in a day or two and then it isn't. Be prepared to be on hold 20+ minutes, even if you are in the parking lot trying to check in for an appointment, and to only ever speak with a vet tech or billing personal located remotely. I've yet to speak with the actual vet who has supposedly been seeing my dog. I am woefully disappointed and have asked for my vet records to be transferred to Hudson Vet in Ossining where I will be taking my dog from now on instead.! read more

Can't comment on veterinarian services, but I can on customer service, my dog ran off while hiking, to make a long story short she wound up there thru animal control in which I was notified by, He told me to come and pick her up there, I showed up and was told by staff there to supply the name and phone number of the control officer who called. I left at my home not thinking I would need this, had some words with the staff there and they were telling me there's laws that they can't break returning my dog back to me WTF!! So I returned to my home got the number and brought it back, and after I made the trip all the way home and back they told me I could take her now. I brought three of my cats to this vet and my girlfriend took our 1 year old pitbull. I cannot stress enough how greedy and money hungry this sketchy organization is. Our poor pitbull went in for allergy medicine that only made her rashes start to blister and bleed. They then wanted a 400$ fee to change her meds without even letting us bring her in first and assure she was healthy. I'm very unhappy with Brook Farms. My dog was there less than a year ago, and they refused to renew his prescription without running a blood test that amounted to $96.23. I've never heard of a blood test costing that much, especially since a Comprehensive Metabolic Panel for a person is about $29.00. My dog had a "mini screen", whatever that may be. There's no transparency in their pricing. We asked several times for them to reconsider the blood test, and they refused and said they wouldn't renew his prescription. A bit delayed on this review but we have been dealing with a dog with cancer. If you care for your pet, do yourself a favor and avoid this place. This place is all about the CASH. They preach customer care and satisfaction but this is nothing but a farce. They have it perfectly set up to deceive the customers. The staff in this place changes more than the weather, increasing the chances of deceit because the chance of speaking to the same person is slim to none. The new person has no idea what the last one told you, so you continuously receive conflicting information. I was a long time customer with 2 dogs, and unfortunately had issues with both dogs. Both dogs were recently treated by Dr. Clarke. Dog #1, was eventually diagnosed by another vet with bone cancer. Dog #2, is the issue that opened my eyes as to what is the sole goal of this operation, CASH. My dog was treated for a dewclaw injury, that was ultimately treated with a wrap and a piece of gauze. I was amazed at the bill I received($140) but in particular what struck me was the ($56) for about a quarter of a roll of stretch wrap. I have included pictures so you see for yourself. The pictures are the invoice, my dog's wrapped leg and what the actual value of the stretch wrap is if you were to purchase it yourself, $1.61 for the whole roll of small bandage. There is also a picture of the message that was left on my phone as to the response. Obviously the translation from voice mail changes a bit but if you read the circled part you can see what their response was. I understand that nothing is free but being charged 35 times the actual cost of the wrap is price gauging. Numerous calls were placed to the office by my wife and I and of course no one wanted to answer why it cost 35x for the roll of tape. When Dr. Clarke was questioned of course she wanted nothing to do with answering such question, probably because she agrees that this qualifies as price gauging, so she referred us to the hospital administrator. Why she could not answer a question on an invoice that was created with her name we really do not understand. The hospital administrator who is the owners son showed his class by blowing us off. Instead we eventually received a call from his current assistant for this month Nikki, who of course had to look into it. She said she would call back which par for the course, she never did. After placing another call Nikki stated the price was correct. If we had an issue with it, maybe this is not a vet for us and we should look for a new one. (Picture of voice transcript included). We have been loyal customers even with previous issues for over 7 years, we were treating a dog with cancer and probably a time when we needed our vet the most but because we questioned a charge that we deemed outrageous and their response was if you don't like it go elsewhere. I could purchase 35 rolls of wrap with the price they charged me for about a quarter of a roll, so you can imagine how many they purchase buying in bulk. Dog #1 was diagnosed with cancer in mid September not one time did they call to see how a long time patient is doing. They will lie to you and tell you how important customer care and their patients are, are they really? If this is really their motto maybe they would have checked on my dog at least once. Maybe they would have a better response when asked to justify 35x the price of the wrap rather than telling me "if you don't like it go elsewhere". The cowardly hospital administrator should personally return calls rather than putting the responsibility on his little minions. As I mentioned this is just the most recent dealings with this place. We made the mistake that you don't have to make. Do yourself a favor, there are plenty of other vets that are actually interested in your pet and customer care. Unfortunately it took us a long time to figure this out because we are loyal to a fault. THIS PLACE ONLY CARES ABOUT THE COLD HARD CASH, HAS NO INTEREST IN CUSTOMER CARE. read more

We called for a appetite stimulant prescription for our dog who is already a patient there. We were told that she needed to come in and get an examination. Assuming that they would need a urine analysis, I had one done beforehand and brought the results with me. At the end of the appointment, we were presented with a bill of nearly $800 for a $51 medication (no x-rays or invasive testing accounted for this amount). The wait was excessive, other people were waiting up to 1 1/2 hours. The kicker was that after we got the results, I requested a copy of the lab values. I was informed that the lab made an error and never ran the stool test. My question was that I was charged for it, paid for it and only found out that it was not performed after looking into this, were they going to tell me this or refund me? In addition, looking up average prices in the entire US, they charge about twice as much for the labs. They also repeated the urine analysis charging me fully because they wanted to see the sediment which was not on my results (accounting for $140 and looking at the results, my tests were accurate). Looking at other complaints, it is clear that prices are excessive and waiting for paperwork and billing takes much too long. Their response is often that they are AAHA certified. For fun, I ran AAHA certified veterinary practices locally and found 12 others within 15 miles so they are certainly not unique. Paying fair wages also doesn't fly either as other practices also have to pay reasonably to keep staff onboarded. In summary, prices are astronomical for quality that does not measure up. They disrespect their clients by devaluing their time and I am very concerned about fraudulent billing (it took multiple phone calls and emails to get ultimately refunded for the stool test). With this kind of price gouging, people can't afford to bring their pet in resulting in suffering and even death. read more

I've tried a few of the other local vets since moving back here from Los Angeles, we have finally found "our vet", and I am just so grateful for the level of care, compassion, knowledge and expertise. Get a call that meds are ready to be picked up so I drive 30 mins to get medicine for my pup. Get there and call the office ( COVID protocol).....just waiting on hold hold hold get someone who transfers me... calls drops. I call again hold hold hold hold get transferred again. Hold hold hold then I get someone who says "uhhhhh do you see a nurse" I said nope and she said "uhhhh well I think they closed early" I was about to leave but realized that my pets health is way more important than being pissed that a vet center can't help their clients that are all in the parking lot asking each other if they've gotten a hold of someone. So I call again, get someone and I am more frustrated than ever and I've been waiting over an hour at this point. She gets the make of my car and said I'll send someone out BUT if no one comes out call back..... I bet you can guess what I had to do. I mean thank god this isn't serious. Also to add i called to make neutering appointment, technician said someone would call me back she can't handle that. So waited two weeks then I just called back the girl made both pre appointment and neutering appointment. Vet advises to wait 6 more months. So I get a call Tuesday ( day of neutering appointment) and they say hey Stanley was booked for neutering are you still bringing him in.... I said nooo they told me not to get him fixed. ....a week later I call to get the remaining three weeks of doxycycline because he reacted fine to it. I call to make sure the remaining 21 days of his medicine is on the table for pick up when I arrive. My mom went and picked it up for me to open and it only be a week worth of medication. Haha so hopefully this time around I'll get the right amount " licensed tech" today asks me if I'm picking up medication for a cough? After giving him all my info he can't see that my dog is taking doxycycline for Lymes. Ugh I really wanted this place to work out. Brook Farm was my vet for 20 year plus. The quality deteriorated quickly after the owner retired. Dissatisfied w another vet, I tried B.F. again through COVID. The owner was back/added energetic/bubily/young assistants. At some point, they were let go. For the high traffic of pets, how can one vet or a few ppl care about your sweetie? Mistakes/pushing high end testing/trying to CREATE OR PUSH GUILT/ASSEMBLY LINE HERDING/ANIMALS WHIMPERING/HOWLING/LONG WAITS FOR SCARED pets/INSENSITIVITY TO OWNERS OF PET/EXTRA and more EXTRAS pushed/OPERATIONS PUSHED are just a LONG LIST which my poor pet baby & I experienced. X-rays require a tech now to be read, costing a few hundred more on top x-ray cost. I brought my pet in for a growth, was critiqued for not spotting or not taking care of her. This was a GUILTY TACTIC and a cruel/deceptive remark. Perhaps this will help ppl to spend more on treatments, perhaps try to present GUILT to you or maybe tossing GUILT w insensitity to owner is a new sales upcharge tactic? Instead of vitamins to strengthen animals like Ramaekers Nutrition/NVR Sol Immune Gold/Pet Longevity RX,  they push a vitamin which needs a frequent scan of organs. My poor pet peed all over the floor/scared w fright. Then she walked in it, w no one cleaning her up. Where was the caring they spoke about? They were all over w a diagnosis. They pushed and pushed harder for an operation. Are we ready to operate every appt. I have nightmares, as my pet did, too. The expensive xray wasn't read correctly. Months went past,  numerous visits, pet not well..same words "nope, no way growth could be bothering her gait". Finally, my last visit, another look at xray to see if anything was MISSED AND MAGIC ,  more tests can be done. SOMETHING WAS MISSED and it was surprising it wasn't caught sooner. With more testing, I could rest easy knowing how sick my animal was. That's it!! But LOOK ..YOUR PET is in pain. My pet SUFFERED for MONTHS and so did I! I WAS told over/over...no way "X" COULD CAUSE "Ý" to happen. I TRIED all I could to help my animal walk according to what I was told. I am beyond disgusted with my latest experience with BFVC. My cat was brought in because of lethargy, wobbly gate etc, and during his visit I was voicing my concerns about how he looked like he was dieing and how he wasn't eating or drinking. I felt as though I was being dismissed, and that my concerns were unfounded. Then after a 7 minute exam, where it was determined that my cats issue was an ear infection, the front desk employee comes in to the room with the infamous "Treatment Plan". A fancy way of saying I hope you have extra $1000 lying around! My bill originally came to $687.00, but by the time I got to the waiting room, credit card in hand, it jumped to $697.00, because of an error they made in how much something actual cost. I paid and went home with my cat and ear drops. The next day my cat looked no better, actually worse. I called BFVC and stated he was definitely dieing, his lips were gray and his breathing was labored. I asked if the results of his bloodwork came back and after being shifted around on the phone I finally got to speak with Dr Clatk who assured me that his bw was fine. I told her he is in really bad shape and her response to me was he's only 3 years old and she doesn't want to euthanize him....Well, I NEVER said anything about euthanizing him!!! She stated I should come in and get Prednisone and an appetite stimulant, so I did. That was $168.20. I got home attempted to give him the medication, and it just fell out of his mouth. I called them back and explained to them that he was literally dieing and couldn't even hold his head up anymore. He looked like a ragdoll. So after a lengthy wait on the phone they now wanted me to bring my cat down to have him "humanely euthanized" I said I didn't think he would even make it there. I asked how much would that now cost me, and after another lengthy wait, I was told $480.00. I told him he's just going to die at home!!! And approximately 15 minutes later he took his last breath. I've been taking my pets to BFVC for like 30 years, because I was always thrilled with their care. But no more. The last few years I've been left feeling underwhelmed by their sub-par care, and having my pockets emptied for it. Buh bye BFVC, my beloved pets shan't be returning. read more

Let me bullet the positives and negatives: Positives: Flexible Friendly staff Flex Pay Negatives An emergency is really not an emergency when they say it is. My dog needed "Emergency Surgery" billed for it but the procedure was performed the next day. No an emergency is it? The expenses is great compared to other vets. The doctors are not favorable to children in the room with the animals. My child was hushed when sitting with my husband because the doctor wasn't use to children talking My dog was misdiagnosed. I brought my cat in for a wellness check I was told that the first visit would be free, big lie. The doctor came in and talked over me. I repeatedly tried to tell her my cat was a year old not 6mths. She told the assistant that my cat was feisty even though my cat did not fight at all she didn't even meow until the doctor began being rough with her. The dr then went on to ask my daughter and I questions like how often do we wash our hair? How long does all that stuff take to put In? I just don't see how that has anything at all to do with my cat. At the end of this uncomfortable experience the doctor suggested a new $50 per bag cat food and a different food bowl. I was told the bill would be $185. I was shocked and asked what happened to the free first visit? The lady at the front desk basically shrugged and said sorry but I was charged anyway. I will never be returning to this office and I don't suggest anyone else go here it's a scam if you say something is free it should be free and asking people how often they wash their hair has nothing to do with our pet my daughter was also super uncomfortable because she told her that she looks like the mother and I look like the child how rude is that. read more

Called the other night and the operator service answered, I was told I would be being transferred to a nurse. I was on hold for over 10 minutes! When the nurse answered I asked her who she was, and she said Amber. I didn't need to be put on hold, and I already knew my dog needed to get seen. I asked why they are putting people on hold for so long and I'm told they don't have enough nurses on at that time! Come to find out, it's not even a local service! I was surprised to find out that this Veterinary clinic was poorly reviewed on Yelp as I have experienced quite the contrary in regard to our visits at Brook Farm. I have never been more reassured by a veterinary doctor, ever. We live in NYC and had a few health issues with our Golden Retriever puppy, who is now 2 years old, such as diarrhea and what looked to be warts. We've taken her to 3 different veterinary clinics in the city (all highly reviewed on Yelp) and they honestly could not tell up from down and their respective supporting administrative staffs were incompetent beyond comprehension. From meeting the staff to receiving the bill, the clinic did its job in providing a much needed service for any pet owner that cares for their pet. The staff knows customer service like its the back of their hand and the Vet couldn't have had a more graceful and pragmatic approach to the treatment of our dog. After properly reviewing the skin condition she was suffering from (something multiple vets failed to do), Dr. Evan Kanouse diagnosed the problem after asking roughly 15-20 very thoughtful questions. Questions that now seem obvious, but that other vets failed to ask. We heard the phrase "we can give her antibiotics to hopefully have a positive effect" from all of the NYC vets, but with Dr. Kanouse, he knew exactly what the issue was and gave us a topical ointment that solved Brooklyn's issue within 2 weeks. Of particular mention as well, Barbara Deets the veterinary technician is amazing. We brought Brooklyn in for her shots and were blown away with how lovingly they were administered. Brooklyn did not have a spare thought for the shots, happily distracted by treats simultaneously dropped to the ground as the shots were administered. To explain the relief of seeing someone qualified, sure handed, friendly, and careful take work in this way was Artful. We've since made the visit from the city for every visit since, including the spaying of our dog. We were never pressured to over-vaccinate or spay before we were ready, as the vet and his staff offer a diverse set of views and insight on emerging research. You and your pet after the second or so visit are always greeted by name and with a smile. These doctors know exactly what they are doing and any issues that you or your pet might be having, they have the solutions to fix it. Arrived for my appt at 4:00, didn't leave till 5:00. Front desk staff is very friendly but speak too fast when going over your bill. My appt was scheduled with Dr Kanouse and my puppy saw Dr Clark, who was good but they should have told me before I went into the room. they have the worst information sent to you. they don't even know when your pet is gone. very hurtful to see your pet is due and he is already dead. Kanouse treated me like I was not even involved in the conversation with my wife, and sent us to a place for an ultrasound because he wasn't capable, can we say kick back? I just wanted to say that I brought my first cat there in 1988 and was completely happy with the service and the way my cat was treated. After he died they donated to an organization in memory of him which I thought was great. We took a break from pets and in 2018 we got our current cat and I thought I would go back there. BIG mistake. Last year I got billed 2 or 3 times for their Wellness program and I had paid it already. I told them that if anything happened again I was going to walk. This year I called and booked an appointment for a wellness check and asked them to use this for that appointment. It was over 90 degrees out and we sat in the car for same amount of time. Dr. Clark was wonderful to our cat. During our time in the parking lot at least two people from the office tried to deliver medication to someone's animals and we told them it wasn't our pet. I called to find out what was going on and was put on hold. Needless to say when the girl came out to get my credit card they had charged me for the wellness check and was told that there was an emergency bee sting and a euthanasia. I asked why was I told when I drove in and given the option to maybe reschedule the appointment but that didn't happen either. I contacted the website about my displeasure and got a long explanation that was irrelevant to my situation and to my cat and just sounded like excuses to me so I'm walking but this time for good. I was extremely angry with the tone of said email and was told that I was being unkind. I think anyone would be with their furbaby and the amount of time in the heat not to mention that he vomited as soon as we got home. Done, done, done! read more
