Take this review with a grain of salt-- it's strictly relative to all the other baitshops we've…read morebeen to. That said, the store is objectively quite good. The people who work there are nice (which is surprisingly unusual for a baitshop in Ontario), the prices are good (ditto; its a great spot to stockup on extra tackle and such en-route to your fishing spot), and the minnows are quite vigorous. In our experience driving across Ontario, you usually get to pick one of those things. No other shop we've seen has managed to hit all three. We've gotten fairly resigned to a sizable percentage (sometimes half) of the minnows dying before we get a chance to use them, but that just isn't the problem here. Every single unused minnow we bought is still alive and well in my cooler over a day later, and aside from a few that seem to have died from oxygen deprivation while we were changing fishing spots, we didn't lose any en-route. The only cons are: the place is a little bit hard to find (it's behind the Husky, and in a little corner unit that's a bit hard to spot), and occasionally their hours change a bit. So you may want to call in to be sure they're open at times. Still, the location is handy if you're going up North from the GTA to fish, and they're near Bass Pro (their reputation is good enough that the fellows at Bass Pro were the ones that originally directed us here), so its a great one-stop spot to replenish equipment as well as bait and tackle.

First let me say this store should be called Orvis: The Adams. There are like five Adams who have…read moreworked here over the past several years. I know this because this is my husband's toy store and I hear so many stories about Adam Schroder or Adam Slavinski or Adam the big cheese manager. I can't keep them all apart. All I know is one of them just shaved his beard and my husband is distraught. I'm pretty sure my husband is thinking about changing his name to Adam. Before my husband ever started fly fishing, I used to go here with my daughter clothes shopping. They have some really great brands - made in America - excellent customer service. When my husband put down his guitar and picked up his fly rod (only one expensive hobby at a time, please), this became the go-to place for all the things. Fly rods. Reels. Bags. Shirts. Pants. You get the drift. This is where my husband was introduced to and fell in love with Kuhl pants. He also really loves the Orvis-branded hats and shirts and jackets. This year he even has some things on his wish list for the dog. They've got a great selection of dog beds and toys in wonderful quality. And as I said, made in America, which is very important to our family. And then there are the Adams. They are really knowledgeable about the area fishing spots and my husband knows he can rely on them for current information. He just got home from Orvis, as a matter of fact, where one of the Adams told him Oatka and the Niagara River are looking pretty good right now. Tip: They teach free fly tying and fly fishing classes as well. If you're at all interested in learning how to fly fish, this is hands-down the best place in the area to learn. Ask for Adam.

We borrowed poles and were able to head outside to learn how to Fly Fish. We even got to attempt (and I got one!) using Velcro flies and Velcro fish out on the lawn. It was super silly and fun. The store is neat, clean, and organized. You can get clothing, Shoes, Pet Supplies, and all imaginable gear (and there's a TON) for this sport. Prices range from $100 - $1,500 depending on the level of deep dive you plan to make into the world of Fly Fishing. We are signed up for Fly Fishing 201 in a week and I will report back!

This sporting goods store has it all!!…read more Its nice to have a community oriented store which prides themselves on customer service and pays close attention to the customers needs. Most big box stores and corporate sporting goods companies unfortunately have no clue about customer service/relations, they would rather bring you in, sell you whatever they can and move onto the next customer without actually catering to your needs and best interests. Its crucial, most especially when it comes to fitting equipment, that the gear fits right, otherwise it can result in injury or poor performance. Equally with regards to skates, if the skates don't fit correctly, this could result in physical issues with ankles, knees, hips or the lower back... not something to compromise, most especially in youngsters and youth while their bodies are growing and taking form. Even their skate sharpening is second to none! CLP Sports is a community landmark business, having established huge credibility and respect, not only in the Clarkson/Lorne Park area of Mississauga, but also throughout Mississauga, the Toronto GTA, across Canada, the US and even Europe. Why have they remained in business for so long and how have they gained so much respect? Simply because their main focus, as with most corporations is not on "the bottom line, its concentrated in providing the best customer service and providing the best products at the most competitive prices. Sure, you can go out to a big box store and possibly find cheaper products, but cheaper isn't always better, most especially when there is no integrity behind the service. Show your support to CLP Sports and independent businesses, its small business owners who established this country!

If they do not have a desired model in, they will have it brought in within a couple of days, and they provide competitive price matching. Their skate sharpening is superb, and they offer a special discount card if you prepay, which is easier for when my kids go directly there to get theirs sharpened, as they track this without having to display the card.
