We arrived well after booking in time but reception was still in full flow and so friendly. Given a room key and directed to our room but, before going up, we decided to visit their Chart Bar for a drink before bed. This 'drink' developed into quite a few and a plate of sandwiches. That bar was a magnet. Service was quick, professional and friendly. All four of us loved it. Later up the stairs, couldn't find the lift due to a few too many, methinks. The room was large and comfy with a wonderful bathroom down a short flight of stairs. Everything we needed for an overnight stay was there. Not a lover of the view though. A car park. But it was night so I lived with it for one night. Breakfast in the morning was a buffet. Everything you could want for a full English. A very busy restaurant. Great coffee and service. All in all a wonderful stay and we will certainly be using this hotel in the future.

Our server was great and we enjoyed ourselves! They do have kids menu for tea as well which was good for us. You get your choice of tea, coffee or hot chocolate. Sandwiches, scones, and assortments of desserts. It was worth the price! There's available parking right in front so no need to look for parking. In all honestly we didn't spend a whole lot of time in here, more just to lay our heads for the night before seeing some friends local to here, then galavanting around London and seeing Lizzie! Rooms are basic as you expect, they have a tv and your usual 'kitchen' products - a kettle and 2 mugs, and then some tea & coffee. Bedding was clean which is a big deal as some places are lazy on this. Unless you're staying in your room or the hotel for a prolonged period, Travelodge standard does the job quite comfortably in my eyes!

As you pull up to the hotel, you will be welcomed by the literal "rolling out the red carpet". It is located in a very quiet residential area within easy walking distance to shops, restaurants, and attractions. This morning, I walked 1 mile to the Prime Meridian at the Royal Observatory and, of course, stood with one foot in the Eastern Hemisphere and the other in the Western Hemisphere. I then walked down to the Cutty Sark, and discovered the entrance to a tunnel where you can walk under the Thames! I have stayed in DoubleTrees in the past and was comforted I would be staying in a brand known to me. It was a long traveling day: I had flown from Las Vegas to LAX, retrieved hubs, made sure all our travel togs were in order, flew LAX to Heathrow and then took a 90 minute cab ride from Heathrow to Greenwich. Holy Mole were we exhausted. I booked the hotel via hotels.com and was wary of using a third party. Upon check in, my worries were unfounded. My hilton rewards account was requested and provided, we were checked in quickly and provided a warm cookie which our weary jet lagged asses gratefully accepted. Once we found our room (small incident with a 4 that looked like a 9) we settled in. Yes the room was tiny but it was quiet and the bed was comfortable. There was an electric kettle in the cupboard and a sturdy hair dryer in the desk. The bathroom was a bit strange. There was no shower door, just a partial glass partition which meant the floor got wet. All the shelf space was above the toilet. Ehh. A bit annoying but not worth making a fuss over. We had a lovely view, there was free wifi and a couple of bottles of water in the room as well. But the bed, sooo lovely. The bar adjacent to the lobby served up some mean drinks. Yum. If I return to the U.K. I have no issues staying here again.

Each room has been decorated and designed to a good standard with some cute complimentary toiletries. There is also an inclusive breakfast and you have the option of full English or continental. I really enjoyed my stay here as it was very pleasant and comfortable. It wasn't far from home but it was still a chance to escape the humdrum and all too familiar surroundings of home.
