They carry over some of the vibes from their sister location, The Azalea Bar, but not as sophisticated. I don't mean that as a dig, its just Godwin's has a more casual atmosphere....as one would expect from a beer hall. They recently brought in a permanent pizza food truck/trailer situation. I'm not a huge fan of their pizza (way too much cheese for me), but they have great wings, potatoe wedges, and nachos. Overall a great addition to an already great beer hall. I strongly recommend giving this place a try.

But Godwins has outsourced their kitchen and food staff to GlobalPizza, and the results aren't good. So along with your beer flights your food choice is hardly beer hall typical, and disappointing. I had a passable hot dog with chili cheese, my friends shared a pizza with good crust but a thin, flavorless sauce. My other couple shared the chicken tenders that were mediocre. No more pub fare. No German beer hall favorites. Godwins - grab a beer. Go anywhere else to eat. What a shame.

He also has a great selection of exotic snacks which pair very well with beers. He has a good story behind the Beer Man name. He shared with us that one night, while drinking with his buddies, one randomly yelled "beer, Man!" And the name just stuck. The painting on the wall is also inspired by his favorite beer Alagash, which he shared was so hard to find and now Carries it in his establishment. If I lived in SC, I would make sure to always support Vince. I have never felt so welcomed in a business. This may not mean a lot to a lot of people but all three of us are of different ethnic backgrounds and were treated exactly the same.
