What a unique place to eat, one of the nation's largest non-military cafeterias. Brody cafeteria has at least 10 different mini restaurants within it, it's set up like a Mall food court, you have a choice of Mexican, vegan, homestyle, boiling point ( pasta salads ), and a soup and mega salad bar. Average cost at for lunch or dinner is right around 10.00 - 12.00 dollars. Many different seating locations to choose from. As far as service goes it's pretty much a self-serve situation, you go up to a food station you order what you want, you wait for the food to be cooked up then they serve it hot to you. There was good and not so great. The good: What we ended up getting was very good. We had soups and salad, juice and desserts. My friend also got a gluten free pizza which was delicious. They have a good selection of vegetarian and gluten free foods. The bad: We got there about 3:15 and were told not all the food islands were open. They close a bunch from 2-5pm yet still charge $10. I think they should knock the price down a notch if there is a limited selection. The employees were mostly nice and helpful. The moral: Check their website or call ahead to make sure you go when they have all the islands open. read more

Unlimited food for a decent price. My personal favorite station is the stir fry, where you customize your stir fry and it is cooked right in front of you. This is typically the longest line in the school year but is worth it. They typically have any dessert you can think of, including ice cream that is scooped right in front of you. I love their chips and queso and salad bar. If you have a couple hours to spend and a ravaging appetite this is the place for you. read more

For $9, you can eat all that you want, but it tends to come at the expense of quality. Since there are so many students that come through here everyday, food is mass produced. It tastes decent, but if you are paying, you'd be better off going to a restaurant in EL for the price. If you're a student with a meal plan, go for it. It's one of the better cafeterias on campus, and definitely has the most offerings. read more

We are locals who occasionally go to Brody Square for dinner. We go because 1) it's a fun experience, 2) everyone can get what they want, and 3) my son likes it and he's a picky eater. It's reasonably priced for a buffet. The food is pretty good at some stations, not so great at some. But there are so many choices that you're bound to find something you like. I tend to like the "Homestyle" station, with chicken and mashed potatoes, etc. My husband enjoys the stir fry station. My son likes the hot dogs and bagels the best. I didn't have good luck with the sushi or the Mexican station. The pizza is very cheesy, which is a big no-no for my picky eater son. But overall the food is decent. Parking is an issue sometimes, and I wish they had straws. I also would like to see more "nut-free/peanut-free" dessert options. But it's a fun place to go with a group. PS: My son loves to put the trays in the tray return and watch them go around. :) read more

Something different for a change - a students view on nutrition - and it's open to everyone. The Brody Hall building in itself is something to look at from the outside with its abstract / modern architecture (look for the orange/amber colored space dome if you can't find the place). Inside it's the same unexpected abstract art style continued into the atrium (think acrylic fish bones with multicolored lighting meets a xylophone). The cafeteria is on the second floor, and is an expanse like a massive food court with a multitude of options to choose from (even vegan). Just expect cafeteria food quality and you won't be surprised. read more

If you're wanting to go to an all-you-can-eat american buffet in the Lansing area, go here instead. The food is better quality here than any other american food buffet around here, and it's cheaper ($10). I work on campus and I'm able to eat here often, but even if I didn't, I'd still eat here over Ponderosa, Golden Corral, etc. Just check their menu before you go, https://eatatstate.com/menus/brody. Woman serving breakfast needs an attitude adjustment. She skipped over me and did not take my order correctly. Also very slow on waffle making. Excellent brew of Apple juice. Too much natural lighting. Bananas were fresh and on point. Ginger ale was also excellent. Candy was name brand and delicious. Other than the breakfast woman, great experience. read more

Brody square offers a warm and welcoming atmosphere which is unparalleled by the likes of all other cafeterias on campus. The servers are without a doubt the best part of the entire experience. They work hard to accommodate the customers every need. One server in particular steps far beyond the bounds of normal customer service. Elman crafts meals with the greatest of accuracy, making sure that every drop of salsa and leaf of cilantro falls into exactly the correct position. Overall, my experience at Brody Cafe was fantastic! I highly recommend their retried beans and one of their many potato dishes. Also there was a fantastic server at Dolce named Nicole Stewart who had great pride and skill in iced cream scooping. read more

Food from Homestyle was good. Only 1 person covering dessert counter; it is not enough, especially for dinner hour. In the past, you didn't mind waiting in line for Pangea because it was so so good! They changed the prep to save time and reduce staff needed and it is reflected in the quality of the food. This used to be a great place to eat but in my opinion the food quality and dining experience is going downhill. read more
