I am a 65 year old male who is very active. Dr. Wassef did a total R hip replacement on me two…read moreweeks ago. I had a successful left hip replacement 2.5 years ago by another surgeon who used a more universal posterior approach with MAKO robotic assist, so I have a good point of comparison. Dr. Wassef uses the DSA (Direct Superior Approach) with MAKO robotic assist which is currently a less common method due to the specific training and technique required to do this approach (google DSA to see differences). In simple terms i have been blown away at how minimally invasive this approach seems to be. Without a doubt, to date, this technique has been less painful than my previous hip. I am so impressed at how quickly I was walking normally without a walker or cane and without any limp. At 2 weeks in I am in PT doing exercises that i could not get to many many weeks beyond the 2 week point with my previous hip. Incision is quite small as well but i am not a "meaty" guy so not sure what allowed me to have such a small incision. Lastly I have NO problem taking narcotic pain meds like oxycodone! I'm not an abuser but definitely a willing user if need be. After this surgery I had real trouble justifying much of any use of the Oxy prescribed. I easily survived on two 500 mg tabs of Tylenol 2x's a day once in AM and once before bed. Thanks Doc.

Dr. Woodson of Los Alamitos Orthopaedic is a terrific doctor and surgeon, period…read more After a stupid-dumb bicycle accident I visited another orthopedist who took a few x-rays, performed a cortisone injection and prescribed physical therapy, neither of which worked. After almost two years of coping with my injury and trying to walk it off, I searched here on Yelp and booked a consult with Dr. Woodson based on his stellar reviews. I am SO glad I did. He ordered an MRI on our first appointment, read it on the second, and showed me where my shoulder was torn. Ah, so THAT's why I was in so much pain. With well-earned confidence, Dr. Woodson told me that I needed surgery, which was actually a relief after living so long with so much discomfort. He described what he would do, what my recovery would look like, and BAM. It was on the books. Nine weeks later, I'm back on Yelp to report that Dr. Woodson was as good as his word. My shoulder is well and truly fixed, and recovery has progressed exactly as he described. Dr. Woodson has been in regular contact with my amazing physical therapist, Kyle Baldwin, and between the two of them I've been in excellent hands (literally, hahaha!) My only regret is that I didn't find Dr. Woodson and have surgery sooner. There was no reason to live in pain for so long!

Scheduling is a nightmare. Gen from scheduling received screenshots and fax of my authorizations…read moreand refused to schedule. More than 4 separate calls on Friday following yo for 3 weeks consistently, and politely. I sent over text confirmations, confirmed through insurance and PCP, all disproved with condescension. My only choice was to remove my referral and request for authorization elsewhere. I cannot overstate how disappointing this experience has been and I truly hope no one with more urgent surgeries goes through a similar experience.
