Fresh tofu pudding (or dou fu fa) is very hard to come by in nyc. Even Manhattan ctown it's not easy to get a quality affordable product. If you happen to be jn Elmhurst stop by this little window in a bodega shop that also sells flowers. They have a bunch of different combos of soy bean pudding. I went with a large classic- it was 5 dollars and came with a large serving of the ginger syrup. It wasn't too sweet- it was light and smooth the pudding and the ginger in the syrup was nice- most places don't bother to do it with the ginger anymore so I appreciated the old school authenticity. Give it a try.

Oooh.... A tofu pudding (dou fu fa) place recently opened in Elmhurst. They also sell flowers in the store though more cut and potted flowers. It's been opened for almost 2 weeks. It's there same owners as the well-known tofu pudding flower shop in Flushing. $2 for small container and $4 for large container. Tofu pudding (dou fu fa) is not easy to make since it should be smooth and silky to taste with a bit of ginger honey syrup for the big finale. When you purchase a container, it's hot so be careful and make sure the top is secured to the container. You can add toppings such as peanuts, mixed beans - red or green beans, mixed jelly and taro for $0.50 extra a topping. I opted for plain since I had red bean to add to the tofu pudding myself. They also have drinks: see picture for pricing. Herbal drink Soy Milk Iced Coffee and Milk Tea Iced Milk Tea with Boba They sell: Fish Balls Big Fish Ball Meat -- Swallow Nest -- You might have to double check me on this -- Not exactly sure. Potato Meatball Go check them if you like tofu pudding or flowers.

I don't know what to think about this. Compared with most white folks, I feel like I'm pretty knowledgeable about Asian food in general, having traveled a shit ton nationally and internationally. I don't get the rave reviews because I didn't care for it. And that's on top of my wide culinary experience and the fact that I generally enjoy desserts that are less sweet not more sweet. This was just bland tofu with some sweetened confetti on top. Let me be clear that there was no unpleasantness or off flavors, it just tasted like tofu. The toppings were pretty and sweet and helped with the flavor. Apparently, you get a container of ginger sugar syrup regardless of which/ any toppings you select. Didn't really make this more of a dessert for me. I'm glad I tried it and you should too if you are adventurous. I'm going to chalk my reaction up to being born and raised American. BTW, the girl at the counter was so sweet and helpful. Tip her please because she seems to not be used to getting tips. Share the love!

Large with tapioca is $5. Worth it!

Considering the size of the store's footprint and the economics of small stores and natural foods, I find this store's selection and pricing remarkably comparable to what I'm used to. Are the aisles crowded? Of course... ditto the stores I patronized in Manhattan.Do they stock everything I could possibly want? No. But what they do stock FAR exceeds what I can fit in my fridge and kitchen cabinets. I've seen some reviewers say checkout staff is rude... What the heck. I always find them friendly and delightful. The staff members that work in the aisles are likewise. I love this place!

Sometimes I try something that sucks, but it's also a brand I've never tried before and you won't know until you try. Most of the items I found here I love and keep coming back for. Unfortunately most other markets in this area do not offer an assortment like this one. Prices are a bit higher here, but you're paying for convenience. The workers are kind and understanding. I've never had an issue with any of the workers. Sometimes an item maybe spoiled or going bad, but if you call right away after you notice they usually make exchanges effortless for you. Overall a clean place to come for unique items. Hoping they bring back the vanilla caramel fudge Ben and Jerry ice cream!

The lot was open and he was just standing around with a friend so we pulled in. Says to me "leave your keys in the car." I immediately said "no, no valet". The lot was nearly empty, the spot was a head-in spot, and it was literally 10 feet in front of us. Who needs a valet to park their car head-in 10 feet away? Besides, what kind of valet issues a directive for me to leave my keys in my own car without even explaining store policy? So then he says "I'll go get you a ticket." Figured he understood me clearly saying "no" (it was 2 of the 3 words I said to the man) and was going to get me a ticket to validate. So he walks around to my wife who was driving and tries the same thing on her. He said to her "leave your stuff here, give me the keys". She immediately said no and we pulled out of the lot. No surprises when I checked the Yelp reviews later and read that someone used the valet and got their house key stolen, had their glove box and registration visibly tossed. The parking at this place is completely F'd. Might be a good store but we never got inside because the attendant seemed to be (badly) running game.

It's sorta multiple supermarkets, in one: old-school market with lots of traditional brands/processed foods/snacks, etc. ..... ethnic/international market, with entire sections for Asian cuisines...Italian/Greek....Middle Eastern.... and another area that is clearly for hipsters/gentrifier types, with organic this and that, Bob's Red Mill, etc. As for organic dairy, they have plenty of such eggs, milk, heavy cream etc. They also have an entire fresh fish market area, with everything on ice, so just like an actual 'fish market', you tell the guy there what you want, and he'll wrap it up for you. I've been very happy with all the fish I've gotten there. The cashiers there are all great. The only tricky part is that sometimes it's hard to figure out where to find things, in this massive market. Some of where they put things is not very intiutive, and so you may have to ask an employee where to find something. But overall, this place has pretty much everything I'm every looking for, and then some!
