Morning round

This course is beautiful to play in morning. All the guys there are nice and even mailed me my ID that I left there when I rented clubs. Fun course.

This is a hard review for me to write I am torn on which direction to go. Pros: The atmosphere is amazing Watching planes takeoff while you're at the driving range is also amazing. Cons: rude staff in the clubhouse!! In between: The course is beautiful but needs a lot of attention I will go back

This is a good public golf course with a nice clubhouse. It also has a driving range that is acceptable (and hard to find in the Asheville area). It's on low land near the airport, so if it has rained recently, the course will be unplayable.

So I don't give out 5 stars often. Due to the fact I grew up playing on some of North Carolina's best courses I can't give 5 stars here because there ar a couple design flaws. For instance, on the front nine there are two holes where the cart path is rough and tumble and built on the side of the hole with water meaning a shot slightly too long becomes a penalty. Also, here is a par 5, 12 I think that has to be played laid up, or a perfect, and I mean perfect drive because the cart path is on the pond side of the hole. Other than that it's great! I play it at least once every time I'm in Aaheville. Greens are fast as lightning and will hold a pin seeking player to their mark. Carts and facilities are in great shape, food is good and if you're not using GolfNow they are friendly. Lol, just kidding!

Positives: Course - The greens were in good condition and were rolling fairly consistently. The greens were large and easy to hit. The sand traps were well placed and were in great shape. The layout was challenging and there were various blind tee shots that could use better staking to provide first time visitors with aiming points. Staff - The young lady working the register and phones was pleasant and friendly. Building and grounds - Plenty of parking and the facility was clean. Negatives: Course - The tee boxes on approximately six holes were not level and had not been rotated to allow for divots to heal. The fairways (40%) are littered with dead spots, fungus, weeds, and washout areas. The rough is hard pan, some grass, and mainly weeds. There were stumps from dead trees on several holes signifying previous storm damage that need to be removed or ground down for safety reasons. Staff - The young man working the cart barn failed to greet or welcome guests. He just keep pulling carts up and hastily ran back to get more. The starter named Dick was brash and abrasive. He failed to greet players, ask key questions, and act as a guide or course ambassador. It seemed as it was a chore or inconvenience for him to check people in. He patrolled the course once on the back nine and was equally as pretentious and didn't want to be bothered. Recommendations - Invest in the Superintendents budget to actively fight the fungus and weeds, support scheduled maintenance functions, and remove tree stumps around the course. Provide staff with remedial training and invest in a positive culture and experience for guests. I understand there may be mitigating circumstances with COVID-19 that may have led to the conditions and staffing concerns. Thank you.

Good driving range. Closeness to the main road and AVL flight path is the only minor downside, but otherwise fine.

He didn't have any customers and ignored me while I stood in front of him. When Mark finished with a customer Cliff told him to help me. Once I chose my grips I told him I wanted to set an appointment to buy some new irons. He pointed to Cliff and said he was the one who does the fitting. Cliff looked at me and said, "Women do not need to be fitted. Only men. Men require different shafts, club weights.... women don't need any of this." I said, "Huh, that's unfortunate. I still want to be fitted." Cliff looked at his calendar and set an appointment for 3 weeks out. Then he came around from behind his counter and stood eye to eye with me. He asked me how tall I was and I told him 5' 6 1/2. (I was wearing flip flops). We were the same height and I suspect my arms were longer. I wish I had said to him, "huh, I suppose you were not fitted and you play with women's clubs." My father was an All American at Duke in Basketball and football. I've been athletic all my life but I reckon women all fit into the same box when it comes to Cliff. He mentioned he had been fitting clubs for people for 50 years. In my opinion he has been fitting men for 50 years. And, from my experience he has most likely been disrespectful and misogynistic towards women for 50 years. Will never go back and my golf pro instructor will not recommend him again.

Went to get fitted for clubs, excellent job on working with me. Very nice and helpful employees…read more Prices are also very good. Very pleased with my experience here. 100% recommend
