When I called to inquire about walk-in availability, the male receptionist who answered sounded as if he was half-asleep and was very difficult to understand. I genuinely could not make out what he was saying, so I politely asked him to repeat himself. Instead of clarifying, he responded in a blunt and dismissive tone. The whole interaction felt unnecessarily rude and unprofessional. To top it off, right as I was wrapping up the call and saying "okay thank you," he hung up on me before I even finished my sentence. That lack of basic courtesy left a really negative impression. Again, I have no complaints about the doctors or the actual care, but the attitude of the person answering the phones makes a huge difference in how patients perceive the office. First impressions matter, and this one was disappointing.

Appointments now consist of basic questions and exams that barely touch the service of issues. My last physical didn't even include a hernia exam, and I'm a 39 year old male with a history of hernias. The nurse practitioners they have on staff are under-qualified at best. The front desk staff are rude, and the intake nurses are also unprofessional. This practice has lost any idea of what customer service means and seems to now be an appointment mill that bills your insurance for telling you to buy some Motrin and get some bed rest. Today was the last straw for us. My wife recently gave birth naturally and our OBGYN recommended we see our PCP for a referral for physical therapy for a month from now to help get her back on her feet and speed her recovery. We called and scheduled an appointment for this specific purpose with the front desk who confirmed that they could give a referral for PT. After waiting for an hour, my wife was seen by a family nurse practitioner that took her temperature and blood pressure, checked her height and weight, eyes and ears, and listened to her breathing. Then, without any examination of her pelvic floor muscles, said that PT 'wasn't indicated' at this time and we should come back for another appointment after our 6 week checkup with our OBGYN for ANOTHER appointment. She explained that we had been sent by the OBGYN to get a referral but the FNP refused to issue the referral and sent her packing. I went in to address this with the front desk and they gave me the run-around, then brought out a 'provider' who first said she had seen my wife but after having me explain the whole situation told me she was just the intake nurse, then asked me to re-explain the situation, then laughed when I said I didn't want to explain myself again and wanted to talk to the actual nurse that had seen my wife. All in all it was a nice hour and fifteen minutes absolutely wasted by the front desk and clinical staff because of their inability to listen and/or be upfront about what services they are willing and able to provide. To LSFP - if you can not or will not offer a service then perhaps your front desk staff shouldn't confirm the appointment for it. Your practice used to be great, and now it is a terrible place to go for care and competent customer service. I've had better customer service at McDonald's. Your front desk staff especially leaves a lot to be desired in the professionalism department. 25 years as a patient and I have never been treated the way I was treated today. We won't be back. Get it together.

    First of all the front desk staff cannot figure out how to run insurance properly. They never…read morebilled my secondary. I never received a bill. I was just sent to collections. UVA collections say the will call you back in 24 to 48 hours. Frequently it was longer. I left instructions on the voicemail multiple times that I worked nights and could not be reached until after 3pm. They would call at 10:30. Over 100 phone calls resulted in them telling me the insurance was billed correctly (no it was not). one of the reps asked me to send the secondary insurance to HIS PERSONAL EMAIL!!! That is a HIPAA violation. By the time they finally got the secondary information they did not have time to bill it correctly. The wrote it off and sent it to a bill collect despite my efforts. now let me tell you that i went in and had little issues initially with the practitioners. They sent me for test THAT THEY NEVER COMPLETED THE FOLLOW UP despite multiple calls From me. My wife and daughter went in. They were treated very differently. Basically they were not listened to and talked over. The practitioner there also started spouting off religious view points on stuff that was neither asked for nor relevant to the issue. we will never be returning to this or anything else run by UVA.

After the appt was made, I got a call from office staff to confirm my appt, insurance, reason for the visit and etc. I told them my symptoms and they told me I was fine to come in since I didn't have a fever. I get a 2nd call shortly after asking if I can come in 15mins earlier which I agreed to do. I have no idea why they asked me to come in early because I ended up waiting over an hour anyway. Dr Aruna finally comes in and asks about my symptoms then with a concerned look she starts questioning why I'm here and that I'm not supposed to be here. This doctor treated me like I had some deadly disease when I just wanted to get some minor symptoms checked out. If they do not accept patients with ANY illness symptoms then the doc should address this with her staff instead of wasting patients' times with this bs. This doc has zero people skills, very aggressive, and not caring at all. I booked this appt because she was the only one with same say booking available but what a disaster this was and waste of valuable time.

As for the doctor, she goes through the motions when she meets with you but doesn't seem engaged nor motivated. She had me come in every three months for blood work to "monitor" certain lab results even though they were within the normal parameters. I eventually ended up getting second options of her various assessments pertaining to my blood work results. I'm glad I did and have since switched providers to someone I felt more comfortable with and trust. I don't recommend. This is just my opinion based on my own personal experience.
