UVA collections say the will call you back in 24 to 48 hours. Frequently it was longer. I left instructions on the voicemail multiple times that I worked nights and could not be reached until after 3pm. They would call at 10:30. Over 100 phone calls resulted in them telling me the insurance was billed correctly (no it was not). one of the reps asked me to send the secondary insurance to HIS PERSONAL EMAIL!!! That is a HIPAA violation. By the time they finally got the secondary information they did not have time to bill it correctly. The wrote it off and sent it to a bill collect despite my efforts. now let me tell you that i went in and had little issues initially with the practitioners. They sent me for test THAT THEY NEVER COMPLETED THE FOLLOW UP despite multiple calls From me. My wife and daughter went in. They were treated very differently. Basically they were not listened to and talked over. The practitioner there also started spouting off religious view points on stuff that was neither asked for nor relevant to the issue. we will never be returning to this or anything else run by UVA.

Upon arrival there was a rude assistant with Spanish accent that tried to help us but took way too long. We were told that our appointment was with a MD, but when we got there we were told that a PA would be seeing us. I'm not even sure if it is legal, but two patients were put in the same room for examination by that same assistant and asked as question about our health AT THE SAME TIME. They gave us a strep test and a flu test. The strep test was done by the the rude assistant at the same time, I am not even sure which test was for which patient, the flu test was done by a different assistant. She came in the room while both of us were sitting and without explaining or anything she just shoved the long q tip in my nostril, it was extremely uncomfortable. I wish she would have told me so I could at least mentally prepare myself. These assistants were savages. Then we came up front to pay and the same assistant was arguing with some lady behind the computer about something was not being her job in front of all the patients. The whole vibe was negative. The place didn't look so clean and the front desk is super messy. Second week of January 2020 I go back to this place. I call during normal business hours but no one picks up, I called again still no one picked up. The third time I called and someone picked up only to put me on a 10 minute hold. I wish they took my number and called me back or asked me to call them in 10 minutes. The person who picked up said "can I put you on hold", before I responded I was put on hold. I made an appointment and upon arriving I didn't see the previous assistant up front and was being see by a MD. Front desk was still messy but had a couple of girls that seemed like they were working really hard. I asked them to send my medication across the street to Walgreens. I was seen by the doctor who seemed to be in a hurry throughout the whole time. I felt like I was being rushed out of that office. She prescribed me two different medications. Finally I got out of there and went to pick up my medication at Walgreens. The pharmacist informed me that there was only one medication sent over to them by this doctor. I called Dr. Kanika's office but it seemed like the office was closed. The next day I called at regular hours but no one picked up. I got a notification from Walmart pharmacy. I am not sure why they would send my medication to TWO DIFFERENT pharmacies. I had to go all the way to Dulles to pick up my medication from Walmart pharmacy, after I clearly mentioned to them that I wanted my medication sent to Walgreen across the street. All of this could have been avoided if the doctor paid close attention to the notes and details of her patient and if they are in a hurry to leave the office, they shouldn't schedule their last patient at 4:30.
