We had the best sleep of our 3 week trip in Ireland. The next morning we woke to the smell of coffee and breakfast being made. We sat for an hour and had a huge Irish breakfast with delicious coffee and just chatted with Shona who runs Ardkeen as if we were staying in her home. We wished we could have changed our travel plans and stayed one week. Ardkeen is located a short walk from a small village outside Westport called The Quays which has pubs, restaurants and cafes and overlooks both Clew Bay and the mountain Croagh Patrick. What a backdrop to our early morning walks!

John is very nice, gave us great advice on meals, pubs, drives, etc. He called ahead to the Clare Island ferry to have them hold for us, as we would be late due to car troubles, and the pilot DID! Only in Ireland! Clean, comfortable, safe, with a singing host. They also have a holistic spa, with massage, aroma therapy, etc. If you do the Crough Patrick pilgrimage you will need this! Stay here!

The rooms are clean and newly updated and the breakfast is amazing! This was the first place we stayed in Ireland and it was a wonderful introduction to a cute town with friendly people! :)

The rooms, bathrooms and the house in general very welcoming and clean. She prepared a breakfast next morning incredibly good! In addition, Mary helped us to decide what to visit in the zone. I think the price was something like 35€ each and a little bit less for children. I'll go to this B&B for sure if I ever go back to Westport!

Our room was quite large and had a queen size double bed and it's own Bathroom. A nice gimmick was the electric bed warmer. The room had no own TV or water heater, though. There is free WiFi available (check the welcome booklet for the WEP key). Breakfast was good and the Owner was very nice. The room was 70EUR for the two of us. A good place to stay.
