In fact, after wandering around this pub it felt as if it isn't a place many respectable people visit, especially after visiting the designated smoking area. However, despite all that the staff were really friendly and welcoming, and the meals were really cheap. They weren't all that bad either, though don't expect any gastro offerings, since as I suggested, this is a no-frills pub with typical pub grub. However you can get a decent bite for $10.00, and they have quite a few specials to chose from. Don't expect a great range of beers either, just the standard fare that you find in most suburban watering holes.

OK so normally I don't like these trendy super-schmick kinds of places (of which Broadbeach has…read moremany) but the food here was REALLY REALLY good. And this is a burger place. And I'm a vegan. I was vacationing on the Gold Coast with my parents, and we went in here for dinner on a whim because we were dressed pretty casually and they looked a little more forgiving of boardshorts and flip-flops than the other trendy dinner spots nearby. At first I had my reservations about whether or not I could eat anything here, but when I told the manager I was vegan, he didn't even bat an eye. He said they have two veggie burgers on the menu, neither of which uses egg in the binder. He volunteered this information on his own -- I didn't even have to ask, which definitely shows he's knowledgeable about veganism, because most restaurant proprietors have no clue that a lot of veggie burgers use egg. There are two veggie burgers -- the Eats Roots and Leaves ($14.50, red lentil and chickpea patty with coleslaw and tomato relish) and the Magic Mushroom ($12, mushroom patty with lettuce, red peppers, feta, and garlic ailoi). He told me the Magic Mushroom could be made vegan without the feta and aioli, but I'm not a mushroom fanatic so I opted with the Eats Roots and Leaves, which was DELICIOUS. All the flavours just melded together perfectly, and the patty stayed together perfectly, no crumbling. The bun wasn't too scratchy or hard (like some burger buns in Oz are) and it was a very filling dinner with a side of fries for under $20. My parents also enjoyed their (meaty) burgers and fries. Make no mistake, this place is a drinking establishment too -- as evidenced by their splashy cocktail and wine list, and the raucous (possible hen's party) group of women enjoying their bevvies next to us. So you don't have to have a meal here to enjoy this place (although the food really is great.) The atmosphere is...well, Broadbeach. Trendy, shiny, and all those other adjectives. A splashy mural was painted on one wall, depicting a typical Gold Coast beach scene (including bikini-clad maidens and ibis stealing food), and some of the seating areas had swings suspended from the ceiling as chairs! I wanted to sit at a table with swings, but my parents weren't keen and the hen's party swooped in and seized them anyway. The place is buzzing, it's trendy, it's very Broadbeach-y -- but the food is delicious and it's a fun place, and I love that they are so accommodating for vegans.

Who doesn't like a good burger? And who doesn't like a good bar? Nobody worth knowing, that's who…read more And here we have a burger bar, combining the very best of both. Tucked away in the swanky strip of bars and restaurants along Oracle Boulevard in Broadbeach, this place is a pleasant surprise. Pleasant because it's welcoming and hip at the same time - not an easy trick to pull off - and surprising because the food is actually reasonably priced while also being delicious. I like everything about this joint. For a start, there's a wide array of seating to suit just about any group. Tables inside and out to suit parties of all sizes, a couple of comfy couches, an actual bar with bar stools in case you're on your own, and even a few swing seats hung from the ceiling (haven't seen that before). The bar is well stocked with an excellent array of beers from the crafty to the usual suspects, and a wine list of similar merit sits comfortably alongside what looks a handy offering of cocktail choices for those that way inclined. I enjoyed the 'Cow Pig Cow' burger but there's one for every taste, including fish and vegie options, and other nibblies for those not in the burger mood. Get there.

Ive had this restaurant bookmarked on Yelp for quite some time, so I figured it was time I finally went it. They are located in a small complex with lots of parking available. There is both indoor and outdoor seating available, a lot more than it would appear prior to walking in. It seems like it is run by a husband and wife duo. The wife services the guests while the husband is the chef. Browsing the menu there were so many options to choose from. We decided on getting the 5 course meal which is $52 per person. Because there is only one chef the food sometimes took awhile to come out. However the quality and presentation was beyond incredible. First course was salmon sashimi three ways. This was very unique because even though it had the same fish, it tasted completely different in each type. They had regular, seared, and ceviche. All were very tasty. Next came the pork belly. I didn't try the sauce as it had honey and I'm allergic however the food was delicious. Perfectly crispy outer edge with soft inside. Third course was prawn tempura. They were jumbo!! They also came with green beens tempura and a wasabi mayo sauce I didn't try. Next was the duck. I cannot elaborate enough about how fantastic the duck tasted. Everything was cooked so wonderfully with the sauces and sides. One of the best duck dishes Ive ever eaten!! We complimented the chef when we were finished. The last course was dessert and I can't remember what it was called. It had a very interesting taste but similar to an ice cream parfait. Overall I was incredibly pleased with my meal and will definitely be back. I live so close so this will be my new go-to spot! Fantastic quality and service at this French-Japanese Restaurant. Update - Came back again tonight for an early birthday dinner. I highly recommend signing up for their emails because they give you an inside look at upcoming dishes and Shun (owner/chef) truly has a passion for this incredible restaurant. You can notice it from the emails as well as his quality and presentation of each dish. Tonight I ordered the sashimi three ways to start because my partner and I both enjoyed it very much last time. For the main I ordered the Slow Cooked Oxtail and Beef Cheeks. It came in came in a huge crock pot and the meat would just melt in your mouth. So delicious! My partner ordered the Bincho-Tan Charcoal Grilled Beef Tenderloin Steak. It had a brown sauce that he enjoyed very much. Because I am a member of their email club for my birthday I was able to choose either a cocktail or a dessert. Since I don't drink I chose to get the dessert. Several of theme sounded delicious but ultimately I decided on the Chocolate Soufflé. It takes about 25 minutes to make so I suggest ordering it with your main dish if you don't want to wait. However we did not mind waiting at all for it. They even added a special touch and wrote Happy Birthday to me in English and Japanese. Such a sweet gesture! The entire dessert was finished by my partner and I as you can see in the picture. Both times we have come here the service has been incredible as well as the fantastic food quality. We love that it is so close because its truly one of our favorite restaurants. Can't wait to be back!

It's a rarity to find a pub or bar in the hustle and bustle of Surfers Paradise where the staff actually enjoy working there. It definitely makes a difference to the venue's vibe! The bar staff also enjoy a good chat and a bit of banter across the bar and this is one of the few Irish pubs in Surfers that actually employees Irish people! Not only adding to the atmosphere, but it means there are staff who can actually pour a good pint of Guinness! There is live music most nights of the week from 9pm, with a band on every Friday and Saturday night. True to their roots there is also traditional Irish entertainment there every Sunday afternoon. In terms of food it has a great range of pub style food at great prices. I've found the food to always be amazing, even the specials (usually $10-15) are spot on! You definitely can't go past the $10 steaks that they do for lunch and dinner!
