Truely an oasis for kids in the summer and just steps from the beach. So glad I found this place…read moreand this has made an awesome summer spot for my 6 year old. Not only large jungle gyms but the water sprinklers are great to wash off the sand from the beach and the water comes from pipes in the design structure rather than shooting up from the ground--big plus and much more sanitary! Only bone to pick is the accumulation of trash from the amount of folks frequenting this popular playground--my sister had to literally push what looked like the carcass of a fish off of the main pathway next to the sprinklers as so many folks just walked pass it/over it and some kids mindlessly play stepped on it. Also, there is a shower feature once you exist the boardwalk from the beach. It it is gross with a stream of green looking runoff from folks using it; doesn't look like it's maintained and can probably make you sick if you fell on it or stepped in it. I suggest just going to the sprinklers in the playground to wash off the sand.

The beach itself is nice, and while the water isn't clear like the Caribbean... we just have to accept that here haha. The lifeguards are attentive -- they even have a drone that I think looks out for sharks. The boardwalk has a bit to see, and there's one hub that's got a bit of everything -- pizza, hot dogs (including vegan ones), smoothies, poke bowls, alfajores, a bar... it's quite nice. There's a bunch of tables right outside and they usually have a dope DJ mix going on. It's just a shame that there's a big sign that tells people not to ride their bikes and scooters through that area, but they do anyway... shame! Parking can be hit or miss based on what time and what day you go. Sometimes we've parked right across the street from the boardwalk. Other times we've parked three blocks away. A lot of the parking is free, by the way. There is some pay-to-park, but we don't like that haha. Definitely go if you have some time!

Street parking is available but not that easy to get. I googled and read that the southern parking spots on Shore Front Pkwy are not for public use. Didn't want to take a chance so found one (north side) by Beach 95th St. Beach 95-97 area was pretty lively last Friday. Saw a schedule of events until 8/31. There was the surf music festival with live bands performing; also a stage performance of Romeo and Juliet at the Rockaway Beach ampitheater. Beach 97 has food vendors; lifeguard station. Update: Enjoying Off The Rails live performance on 8/29 right now. Restrooms were dirty and smelly though. I know that a lot of people use them but need better maintenance. Only 1 sink was left on 8/29. Showers were on the boardwalk making the area sandy and wet. The beach/sand was coarser and a lot more broken shells, some sharp, when compared to Long Beach NY which we've gone to recently. Waves were much stronger too.

This park is clean and very well-kept, plenty of street parking available and offers residents free Wi-Fi. There's a good size playground for younger and older children, including swings, slides and monkey bars as well as a big sandbox with 2 excavators. Not to mention, there are tons of trucks, cars, walkers and ride-on toys for the younger children to play with. Sprinklers are turned on during the summer (don't forget your kid's bathing suit and towel). Where the bathrooms are located at inside the community room, there's a billiard and ping pong table, a water fountain and vending machines for your convenience. Next to the playground, there's a basketball and tennis court, where you can also play handball, badminton and volleyball. This park could get a bit crowded during summer camp times but it isn't too bad.

I was here with…read moremy 3 year old niece so I stayed in the kiddy part but there also handball and basketball courts as well. There were three big "things" with bridges, periscopes, and slides. My niece spent at least an hour climbing up and down them. I would suggest having your kids keep their shoes on as there was some broken glass. The parents all jumped in and cleaned it up but something to keep your eye on. They also had sprinklers there which the kids loved to run thru. Plenty of benches for the grown ups. They also had a working water fountain. I think the Ice Cream Truck makes regular rounds. I heard the jingle a lot.

The playground equipment is relatively new with great colors and characters. My nephew was having a ball running around. It's also wonderful to be able to see a soccer field from the toddlers' playground. It makes it easy to watch older kids play from one convenient location. Thankfully, parking was very easy to access which is such a benefit when there are little ones who are quick to scurry. Plus, traffic is relatively controlled so fast cars aren't swerving by. The only thing I cannot comment on is the state of the bathroom. I didn't have a chance to enter it therefore I have to deduct a star for that unknown element. Overall, I highly recommend this park for all families and adults young at heart.

The floor is cushioned, bouncy even, friendly for trips and falls. There is a basketball court, and grassy areas separate from the field. My 17 month old son had so much fun at this park.
