Lovely place! I love old, traditional establishments and this hit the spot! So many beautiful cakes, tarts, and puddings to chose from in a lovely spot. I had a tart, tea, and sat on the gorgeous roof with the most beautiful view. Fab! read more

The best scones I have ever had in my life. Wow. Our group had an array of cheese, fruit and plain…read morescones. The cheese scones were delicious, flavorful and pure perfection. Slightly crunchy outside but soft on the inside. The plain scones were equally amazing, but the clotted cream and jam really took them over the top for me. Just when I thought I couldn't eat anything else, we had a brownie that the group was sharing and those who had tried it insisted I have a bite. It was a collective statement that none of us had ever had a brownie so delicious. For drinks we had a variety of teas (chocolate tea, hot chocolate, etc.) and they were all wonderful. Service was a delight the entire time as well. The decor is one of a kind and every single detail had been thought out, from the framed pictures to the trinkets on display, to the seating and tablecloths. This place is a gem and I can not recommend it enough.

OMG the most AMAZING afternoon tea shop ever!! GO HUNGRY!! Welcoming, quirky decor, 2 floors,…read moretraditional 3 tier afternoon tea with sandwiches, scone with clotted cream n jam and a cake of your choice, plus your choice of tea served in a big tin teapot with knitted handle cover. I devoured my smoked salmon sandwiches, no dainty sarnies here though, they were full sized and chock with filling and 3 of em! Scones are big and light, the plain was very good, but the spiced fruit scone knocked our socks off, it was really delicious :) Now to the piece de resistance....CAKE. There are plenty to choose from, and they don't stint on the servings. While my friend plumped for the ginger and pear loaf which was still a healthy size, I went all in and ended up with a slice of Vicky sponge bigger than my outstretched hand, with cream and raspberry sauce elegantly dribbled all over. Be still my heart....it was a veritable feast, more challenging than a family Christmas dinner, and while I gave it my best and fell on it like a ravenous beast I was beaten by Vicky's sponge. I had a food baby the size of full term twins afterwards ;) Hee, hee...every bite was a delight.....and the calories don't count as I was on vacation. Even better there is a boutique tea store at the back of the restaurant that sells an eclectic range of hand blended teas. I bought an Earl Gray Fume which they blended right in front of me to the original recipe, and a Rose Chocolate Earl Gray which was delicious too. Perfect as a gift for someone special or just for yourself as a pick me up. Biddy's is located in the old town center with lots of shopping next door, and an old market a few steps away. This is a must on your Norwich visit. I'm just glad I don't live there or I would be Biddying every day and balloon to the the size of a hot air balloon...hahahaha.

We came for brunch on a weekend and though it was already busy, we were seated straightaway upstairs. There are multiple levels plus patio dining and from the brief glances we took going up the Victorian staircase, each floor had a slightly different design theme. The whole place had a homey feel to it; somehow I felt like I was eating at a friend's flat by the way the tables were set up. What I liked were the little details like the simple antique book centerpieces and the organisation of the servers' stations. As for the food, we ordered a typical Full English Breakfast (or fry-up) and Eggs Benedict. I was especially delighted that American-style streaky bacon was served on the benedict. The plate was nicely presented and delicious. This was my only visit and from what I understand, the establishment has gone through numerous business changes, so I (sadly) wouldn't be surprised if it has transitioned again, but hopefully the food and service survive despite any differing names or management.

We first went into the gardens and it was very peaceful with a number of small ponds surrounded by well manicured lawns, trees, and a lot of borders with interesting grasses. At the end of the gardens is a woodland, more ponds and a lot of ducks and fish. I think the silence is a treasure in these sort of places. There is a small shop that leads to the nursery and next door is a cafe. You can see it all except the gardens for free. Overall, I think its a nice place to visit for peace and quiet.

The scones were lovely and the cakes and tarts... well, where on earth do you start?? The tea was good - we all had good old English breakfast. They also have a nice little gift shop. Parking might be a challenge if school is in session and about to let out as there is only street parking and a school across the road.
I think I will!
