Terrible experience with Steve, abusive and dishonest in my view. As if a person playing a Saturday night live parody of a corrupt mechanic, inflated prices from original estimate 20% after drop off, and they were already double the next shop. when I questioned he screamed at me, hung up on me, called me a liar. Wish I had listen to the negative reviews here, you often see a bunch of positives and one or two negatives and think oh OK it was the customer. In this case it is the mechanic Steve. He is not a nice person and yelled profanity at me and wasted lots of my time. This business will likely go away since the internet makes this type of behavior unacceptable. He also kept yelling about cheap Chinese parts; perhaps he is not familiar with modern concepts of trade or humanity. read more

Called looking for a quote for some service on my vehicle. Whomever I spoke to, he wasn't very helpful and definitely overcharged in comparison to other shops that would perform the same work. Came in here this morning because my truck wouldn't start. Beverly was very warm and welcoming, she turned my horrible morning into a pleasant experience. She was personable and her English accent was delightful. I had called in the previous day so she had all my information ready to go which was surprising because I never actually told her I was going to come in. Anyway, they gave me a diagnostic within an hour or so and told me that my battery was bad. She then quoted me a great price and had my truck ready to go way end of day. This place is amazing, they have all original Land Rover/Range Rover parts and they make sure the work is done properly. Unfortunately my warranty didn't cover the service I needed today but I'm definitely satisfied with their services. Thank you everyone who assisted me today. Stay away from this shop. Took my 91 Range Rover Classic for a death wobble and the tech un screwed my downpipes manifold. The nuts were clearly hit with an impact wrench as a tell that they wanted me to turn around and pay more money for repairs. The Panhard bushings and down pipes are miles away from each other no need for that tech to touch those bolts. Tech and owner denied that being done. Find the rave repair manual online and save yourself some money. read more

British Car Service was great! I recently purchased a used Range Rover from Santa Monica Rovers... I really wish I had know of British Car Service sooner. I had some work done on the truck by some guy referred to me by the dealer. The work seemed good enough and affordable, but after a few days of driving the truck broke down again. After some research on the internet and a nice conversation with Beverly, I decided to have my truck towed to British Car Service. They did a full check on the vehicle and discovered that the damage was caused by the previous mechanic not putting the vehicle back together properly. I wish I had know of them sooner to have them do a Pre-Purchase inspection on the truck in the first place. This has been an expensive lesson to learn but now that I've learned it I plan to move forward with confidence. Go to the right people to have your car fixed or maintained the first time. It might seem like you are paying more for the service but you are really paying for professional and experienced personnel and the peace of mind that a job is going to be done right the first time. Thanks again to Beverly, Joyce and Steven for their honesty and service. With so many glowing reviews I almost hate to tell my story. I really wanted to love these guys and brought my Defender 90 in on the advice of a friend. But after a month, they still had't started on it. I would call, and Beverly would apologize and tell me how busy they were, but when I dropped by after 3 weeks, Steve was working on his own bloody truck! By the time I picked it up, they'd only done half the work and charged me quite a bit more than was on the most recent estimate. When I got home I realized the wiring they had done made all my indicator lights blink at the same time! I am floored. They say it takes a lifetime to win a new customer and a second to lose one... In this case it took a month. I'm sure if you get on his good side, Steve will take care of you. But, for this Defender owner, I'm gonna look for another shop. read more

was convinced I blew my head gasket from over topping my oil . When I drive a little then park my car maybe hour or 2 later would shoot out white smoke when I start it .. was extremely nervous about were I would take it knowing that repair could be possibly 5 thousand dollars and due to the brand I don't trust someone would give me an honest price . I told them I thought it was the head gasket they agreed to check out my rover .. about 6 hours later I receive a call about the rover .. and to my surprise and happiness . It was much cheaper and I did not blow my gasket .. on top of my issue they did my coolant system and my oil .. totally appreciated it ..... bottom line they could've taken advantage of me but they didn't .. they got a new customer read more

I have to give them 5 stars now. Because I was wrong about them. I told some people not to take their Land Rovers there - and I was wrong. I wish I had not done that. I took my car here years ago and asked them to add a tornado gas saving device and charge me a fee for it. I wanted to see if I could get some MPG increase. Just curious to see if it would work. I was told the device was a gimmick and did not work. They said they did not want to charge or install it because it was a waste of time and money. But I insisted on using it. A few months later I needed a 60k service and brought the car to British Eurotech. I did not notice any MPG difference and asked the guys about it. I was told it was never installed by BCS. BET said "come here and take a look see .. they didn't even install it" I was shown the upper or lower air intake manifold to deceive me into thinking BCS charged for something they did not install. They in fact did install it - but the shop wanted me to think they did not. This caused me to be upset which resulted in me becoming a customer of British Eutrotech - who in turn, did lousy work on my car. Today I replaced the air intake manifold after accidentally breaking the air damping bulb and discovered the tornado gas saver was in fact - installed as instructed by BCS all those years ago. I am writing this review to admit I was wrong. I was mistaken. I did not know anything about Land Rovers at the time and was relaying on the information from a professional - who actually lied to me. The guy saw the device was installed but showed me the other side and told me it wasn't - in order to lure a new customer. From what I can see BCS is expensive. But I think the old adage is true: you get what you pay for. If you want quality work you have to pay for that quality. Many mechanic's simply don't have the skill-set to work on Land Rovers and this will cost you more in the long run. As long as BCS honors their work it puts them a step up., The work I paid for at the time, while not much, was in fact quality and done correctly. The bottom line is this: I have to admit when I am wrong and give credit were credit is due. read more

I was disappointed with my experience after taking in my Defender to have the door lock replaced. I didn't receive a quote, but paid a $100 "deposit" which I thought was the pre-payment. When I returned I was told it was $395 & ended up paying $237. When I went to pick up the car, the grab handle that I'd removed & left it in the center console was missing as well as the plastic seal that goes around the door lock. The mechanic (who I will not name here) was argumentative & implied that a locksmith had removed it - he did NOT as he had tried to unsuccesfully open the door for 5 minutes while I watched him! Although they told me the car had not been driven it was also in 4-wheel drive & now we can't get it out of 4-wheel drive! I requested they try to find the parts without passing blame & they said they did not find them & could not order them! I had to order the 2 missing parts from Rovers North. read more

I live in SF. I had a repair done on my 04 Range Rover HSE. I had a thermostat fail and my overfill blew up. I fixed this in SF. Just days later I drove down to LA and on the 5 the hose blew off. I managed to fix it and get it over to British Car and they fixed it in just hours. They are considerably less than my SF shop and super great on the advice and being honest. The issues I had with my 2004 Range Rover did not come back after they worked on it, which is more than I can say about other mechanics I took the car to. I have been taking my 2007 LR3 to BCS since 2012. As long as Steve, Beverly and their whole crew are in the business of fixing Land Rovers, I will never need to find another mechanic in LA. They replaced my clutch master cylinder, fixed a clunk in my transfer case, got my air conditioning working again and a whole shopping list of things done. I have been having issues with my vehicle for some time. Costing at the dealer some $2500.00. Yet still not truly fixed. A friend told me of British Car Service, So I tried them out. They found the problem in less than an hour, It was a wire that had gotten pinched between two pieces of metal. Also at this time they found I had a large nail in one of my tires. They promptly fixed it for no extra charge. I found the staff to in the office to be very friendly and customer service oriented. Jason "who looked after my vehicle" was very helpful and knowledgeable about my vehicle extensively. I look forward to my next oil change, which by this time I am sure is due. What a rip off!! I use to be a frequent customer of British Car Service and every time I took my car to them more things needed to be repaired, according to what they said.... I spent over $10k on repairs with British Car Service but my car still was having issues. They were very friendly but was also deceptive. There was a problem with my car concerning a leakage of antifreeze. They said it was the center valley plate which would have cost me $750 Dollars. After getting tired of spending so much money with them, I decided to investigate and I took my leakage problem elsewhere. Come to find out all I needed was a $12 hose........ CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT????? Now I believe they had been ripping me off all this time like my instincts were telling me!! No more!!! Took my RR in because dealer said I needed new brakes and had them do a check of the car as they hadn't seen it before. On top of not needing new brakes and finding repairs that the dealer hadn't seen but I knew that something wasn't right, they fixed an electrical issue that the dealer had tried for 6 years to fix for large amounts of money. read more

This is my kind of place. Straight up advice, honest opinions and they get the job done. My LR Discovery II had broken down and been lying in another auto repair place while their "Landrover expert" tried to work out what was wrong with it (for a week), The quote was almost $3000 to replace all 8 fuel injectors. with the warning that more work was needed and I should sell the vehicle and buy something else (they would "hook me up"). I called BCS in desperation and the fist thing I was told was that they stopped stocking LR injectors because they, in their experience, hardly ever went wrong. The word experience means something to me so I got my car to them. A couple of hours later I had a tentative diagnosis and I picked it up and drove it home later the same day, running smoothly and safely, FOR LESS THAN $500. I am going back next week for a minor service, I am sorry I ever went anywhere else. ps, while waiting for the keys, I met a guy in the reception who told me of his horror stories at another LR service place and echoed my very positive feelings for BCS. pps. the customer service was fine and leaves nothing to be desired To honesty and integrity, thanks BCS read more
