Was born in South Africa and grew up with a lot of British baked goods around me - scones, Empire biscuits, Cornish pasties, the whole nine yards. Let's face it, there is something comforting about starch,sugar and butter. Carbs, shmarbs, once in a while isn't the end of the world.
The Empire biscuits - amazing, had regular sized ones and mini ones. Scones were OK, (mine are better). Melton Mowbray pies, Cornish pasties, all sorts of meat pies done in the British style are good here. They have Eccles cakes as well - a huge variety of tea-friendly indulgences.
