I cannot say enough great things about Mike and Calvin's Wrecker Service in Bristow, OK. On the…read moreFriday after Thanksgiving 2025 nearing dark coming out of Bristow, I ended up with a flat tire and had to pull off on a dark country road with my dog and called AAA to wait. Calvin's Wrecker Service and Mike were assigned. Mike came as fast as he could from Shamrock, and was in constant communication with me. Mike assessed the situation, but couldn't change my flat as I didn't have the right equipment. Mike towed my car back into Bristow with me and my dog, stopped at a motel so I could check in so I could have a safe place to stay overnight, dropped off my car at Bristow Tire and secured it, and dropped my dog and I back off at the Bristow motel, all the while ensuring my dog and I were comfortable, warm and safe. My experience is that AAA picked a great vendor and gets great value from Calvin's Wrecker Service and Mike. If you are looking for towing or help in the Bristow/Shamrock, OK area, look no further than Calvin's Wrecker Service!

Dishonest, lazy, opportunists taking advantage of people while they're distressed. Had a blowout…read moreon I44 between Stroud & Bristow on a Saturday morning in July 2023. Called AAA at 7:59am and this company was dispatched to change a flat tire, was told they'd be there at 9:30 at the latest by AAA. Was relieved as I was traveling with my 3 children and was stranded in the Oklahoma heat. At 9:19am someone from this wrecking service and told me he was "about to leave" and told me he was going to have to charge any toll fees to me and asked if I still wanted him to come out, "yes, of course, please hurry" I said. About 10am someone showed up in an older, beat up small pickup truck. No problem, just needed him to change the flat. He gets out of his truck and the first thing he says is "you're going to be charged for the tolls fees" and asked me some to the effect of "do you still want me to change the tire, because you owe the toll fees". Flabbergasted and knowing the toll fees would amount to no more than $2-3 for his round trip from Bristow to Stroud and back to Bristow, I joked "hmm..no please just leave me stranded here on the road". My husband was there by that point to get me and our babies out of the heat; as I was walking past the service guy to my husbands car, again he was talking about the tolls fees with my husband. I said to him we already said that's fine, and he said "you're a basic AAA member maam. you have to pay the tolls fees". I was amazed..no one argued about toll fees with him, I Dont believe he wanted to change the tire. It was really bizarre. I see on my credit card statement today that he charged us $15.75 for toll fees on top of the payment he received from AAA. See the chart below for the tolls fees charged by the state on this route. With a pikepass it would be $2.60 for the round trip, without a pikepass it would be $3.50. I've already reported this to AAA and will be contesting with my credit card company as well. Shockingly dishonest, no integrity. I would never recommend them to anyone.

On September 27th, my family and I attended the Tulsa State Fair and parked one of our vehicles in…read morethe Lowe's parking lot across the street. When we returned, our vehicle was gone, and a wrecker company was actively towing numerous vehicles away. We spoke to a driver in a 918 Wreckers truck, who told us, "I don't know who took your car or where it's at." After calling 918 Wreckers directly, we were informed that we had to pay $302.16--cash only, exact change--to retrieve our vehicle. After finally getting our vehicle back, we returned to the Lowe's lot to inform other fairgoers about where their cars might be and what the fees were. While there, we witnessed one of the wreckers having a malfunction while loading a Ford F-150 truck and calling out for assistance. It looked as if the winch broke that was holding the F-150, so they had another flat bed tow truck back up to it, and lifted the F-150 by its bumper. We drove over to record the incident, as we are preparing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. At that point, an unmarked vehicle with a rebel flag license plate sped up behind us in a threatening manner. The driver, a woman, began cussing at us, flipping us off, and walking toward the tow trucks. When we asked, "What are you even doing?" she yelled back at us, "Whatever the hell I want to." I immediately called 918 Wreckers to report the situation. The employee I spoke with told me they would "call their GM and have him go out to handle it because this was extremely unprofessional". While we were in the parking lot, we also witnessed an older gentleman and his wife explaining to the wreckers that their car had broken down and he had just returned from the auto store with parts to fix it. Despite his circumstances, he was still forced to pay the $302.16 in cash before being allowed to retrieve his vehicle. I fully understand that we were in the wrong with our parking. But the situation could have and should have been handled very differently. This experience was unprofessional, unsafe, and deeply concerning. I am formally filing this complaint in hopes of addressing the conduct, towing practices, and safety issues we encountered with 918 Wreckers. I would also like for the Better Business Bureau to investigate this company's practice of only accepting cash payments. I am concerned about whether these transactions are being properly reported.
