Located on North Street not far from Bedminster Parade, they are open from 7am so you can pop in on your way to work. Although open on Saturdays (until 2pm) be warned that they are closed all day on Wednesdays. Other places nearby are charging twice the price, and you'll get a bad cut as they're too busy playing with their new wireless music system or watching the horse racing on the TV (both true experiences). But at FNS they keep it simple. No distractions, no silly theatrics, they just get on with cutting your hair and making sure you get what you asked for. This friendly atmosphere extends to several occasions now, whilst waiting in a longer than normal queue being offered a cup of tea/coffee or water. I have my hair cropped short and this is still the only barbers I've found (that isn't upper market) to finish the sideburns and neck with a cut-throat razor and talc - a small addition that really helps to sharpen the final look of the cut. All of this for under £10, a real bargain.

A waiting room, for starters, with a fine selection of men's magazines and comfortable seats. A few good chairs line the walls with big clean mirrors to catch up on a spot of vanity. The brushes and scissors are kept in pots of steriliser that smell of Top Gear and London Pride. Then the memories flow back. The red and white spiral column out front, or the conversation with the gentleman - so much more than the trivia spilled in most modern hairdressers. And the price? The price is just right - about a tenner. What more could you want?
