Cesar's way of training is gentle yet gets his point across. He understands your goals and pulls together a program to help you achieve them. We also discuss nutrition which is extremely important on my journey to better and stronger health. If you are older (or younger) and looking for help with getting in shape, Cesar is your go to. He is extremely patient, caring and kind and if this was a 10 star rating, he would definitely be that! He will get you to where you want to be. I am happy he is my coach. What I look also look forward to are motivational/informational emails from Eric the owner. He offers so much guidance on nutrition and also in the different programs throughout the year. I would 1000% recommend doing one-on-one training sessions--it's the best money I've ever spent on myself. Thanks to our workouts, I had an incredibly easy delivery and post-partum recovery. Tal radiates positive energy! She kept me smiling, fit, motivated, and--most importantly--SAFE throughout my pregnancy. Her workouts were not only fun but also incorporate many moves that can actually be used during labor. She was always in-tune to my needs and would adapt her routines--even mid-workout--to make sure I was safe and pain-free. I also loved that she emphasized important foundations (e.g. proper breathing technique, connecting breath to core and pelvic floor, safe ways to get in/out of bed, ways to avoid diastasis recti, etc). I continue to use those skills daily. Not only is Tal a mama herself, she has years of experience as a specialized prenatal/post-partum personal trainer. She even stays up-to-date with ACOG recommendations and takes refresher maternal health courses. As a physician, I was impressed with the depth of her knowledge. If you train with her, you get access to her Strong Mama Fitness online for free--another incredible resource. Although she is no longer local in the Bay Area, she is available for 1-on-1 virtual training via Zoom. Our virtual sessions were super convenient, all without sacrificing quality. I can't recommend Tal enough!

However, she has never once kicked my ass - sweetly or otherwise. Instead she's used her expertise to keep me informed AND accountable. She always meets me where I am. If I'm struggling, she focuses on how to support me. If I'm hungry for information, she feeds me rationale and data. And she always brings me back to my goals. As a nurse, I thought I knew a lot about health and wellness. But my time with Ashley has shown me that there's still so much I don't know - which is why I was spinning my wheels without seeing results for so long. As a newer mom, I was so frustrated at not having enough time or energy to get organized and work on my own fitness goals. I love my old clothes and wanted so badly to wear them again! Ashley coaches me to see what SMALL, SUSTAINABLE changes can have a big, lasting impact. In 8 weeks of working together I'm wearing pants I thought were forever in the past. And although I haven't joined a gym or starting running etc., my awareness of my daily movement and food choices is at an all time high. It has made all the difference. My only regret is not looking for her sooner.

I'm a busy working Mom in my 40's and she really helped me to prioritize my health and fitness so I can be my best self both for me and for my family. I hadn't done that for a long time and it's probably the best GIFT that anyone has given me. I'm eating better, I'm stronger, and just happier with myself. I'm truly grateful to her for her support and friendship.

The resulting health benefits for my child are beyond what I even understood initially, and I have had an easy postpartum recovery. The class even prepped my husband to be a stellar birthing partner without whom I'm not sure I would have had the same success with a natural delivery. Claudia's warm and kind demeanor, her years of experience, and her knowledge of hypnobirthing and its methods made for the best birthing class I could have asked for. I now believe every pregnant woman should take a hypnobirthing class. I cannot recommend Claudia and CFM more highly!

The insoles seem to help a bit but Shirley is who truly helped me get back on my feet, literally. She was actually able to find out the root cause of my pain based on my movement and description of pain. She gave me tools to cure my problem rather than just treat it. She is so knowledgeable and patient in teaching movement and stretches. I never feel rushed during a session even if I manically burst through the door behind schedule. While I was seeing her I also had a minor neck/shoulder injury (2017 was a fun one). She aided recovery and I'm totally healed now. I can't say enough good things about her. She has hands of magic, strong but gentle, and is super intuitive. I worked with Ana for about 8 years before I moved from the Bay Area. When I first started seeing…read moreAna I had a lot of pain from old dance injuries which were made worse by sitting at a desk and driving in traffic everyday. We worked together once a week first building strength and "fixing" my ailments and then eventually working on maintaining great habits and my core strength. What Ana provides that I have not been able to find elsewhere is a keen understanding of the body combined with a natural instinct about how work, life, and personal habits effect one's overall well being. She not only focused on the physical therapy side of my ailments but also worked with my on sleep patterns, how I sit at my desk, what foods I am eating, etc. opening my eyes to the realization that I had to make changes in my life as well as continue to do my exercises and "homework." Ana also always took notes on what was happening with my body and would come up with customized exercises based on what was needed that day or based on what issues I was experiencing. Nothing is cookie cutter with Ana because none of her patients have the same issues and needs. Ana and I also worked together on several pole performance workshops. Not only is she an amazing pilates instructor but a gifted dancer and performer. I learned so much from her and am thankful for the performance opportunities I had working with her. And Ana is the most positive, reassuring, supportive, and encouraging person. She always finds a way to spin a negative into a positive but is tough if needed to make sure that you are taken care of. I wish I had an Ana where I am now but I am also thankful for all her help over the years and for helping me live better and want to take care of my personal well being!

Ana has a calm, unpretentious understanding how our bodies work combined with a natural instinct about how our all our lives need balance to maintain well being. She designs movements tailored to your body, and your goals. She is a great teacher and gentle guide. Don't be fooled by her angelic presence. She can handle the most weighty of challenges, whether they be physical, psychological or intellectual. She brings the inner force of the masculine to match the outer brilliance of the feminine. With that being said, I was super happy to find out that Rise SSF is the only Pilates studio in South San Francisco and is a collective as well! I've taken classes with Joanel, Ely, and Justin. They're all very instructive and supportive, I definitely feel the burn the following day from their classes. The studio itself is very clean and has music at a moderate volume- the focus is on your form and timing. I think Pilates is best done as a supplementary exercise and can be best paired with another activity like cardio or lifting weights, but it definitely has benefits where it tests muscles that you don't normally work out.

Leslie taught me to be acutely aware of and attuned to my body. For example, she immediately saw that I routinely clenched my belly and showed me how to relax it- and consequently, the chronic neck/jaw/shoulder pain that I have suffered for 10+ years and was progressively worsening started resolving! The pain and tension simply started to melt away when I finally learned to relax my belly. (I have gone to numerous physical therapists, chiropractors, acupuncturists, massage therapists to treat the condition. None resulted in any lasting change.) These lessons in body awareness are invaluable, and I will be coming back for more.

At the very beginning of the class, Leslie took the time to ask in detail about my body condition and my training goals. My main focus was to improve muscle tone and leg strength, hoping to achieve straighter legs. Now, after nearly six months of training, I can see real progress--my muscle definition is smoother, and my legs are straighter. Beyond that, Leslie's Pilates classes have helped me understand my body's potential, the relationship between different muscle groups, and have activated muscles I'd previously neglected. Leslie is incredibly kind and encouraging. She has helped me believe in my body and its possibilities. I'm deeply grateful for these classes and highly recommend them to others!
