This is my local shop and I felt I had to mention them as they are great for everything that you…read moremight need quickly which you may have run out of in the way of essentials. They also rent DVD's. Have a table and chairs outside. Have a hot counter for take away food. Staff are always friendly. This shop had been there for quite sometime but then it was close and now re-opened with new owners. I am grateful for all local shops and will support them where ever possible. They were a God send during the snow and when we had our water turned off they had vast amounts of water you could buy at a good price.

But I love you all for that :) Woke this morning and decided to go on a mission to recycle the bottles from Friday night. This bottle bank is located in Smithfield Square and takes, clear, brown and green glass. I would love it more if it took plastic and paper. There also is a clothes bank beside it too. I returned home happy to get that out of the way and to read my Sunday paper over tea, but first to hang out the clothes. Yelp juice from that blasted red sheet has seeped into all my clothes... I am Yelp branded for life.

Such a gem of a place. Michael made sure all of my linen was perfect for my brother's wedding here…read morein Ireland. Someone mentioned to me on Friday as we drove passed: There's a small recycling centre in there…read moresomewhere. They were very wrong. There is a massive recycling centre in there and its excellently organised and run. I didn't realise I would be visiting Ballyogan Recycling Park the very next day and what an experience it was. The place is setup brilliantly for people to drive in, park and dispose of their recycling. The different bins or collection boxes are clearly marked for what they accept. And the place is spotless. My sister tells me the same person is there always keeping the place tidy. A few things to note, you can bring a car load of garden waste here too and it will cost you we think 7 EUR. More if you have a car trailer. For this you will need to turn left as you come in the front gate and pay the lady at the barrier. Another thing to note is all the WEEE waste is in a separate section to the regular recycling and for this you also need to go through the barrier to the left as you come in. The nice lady at the barrier will give you a receipt and let you in with no charge. Just drive passed the garden waste and you'll see the WEEE section further on. Again this place is setup perfectly with everything clearly marked as to where things should go. For a recycling experience, Ballyogan Recycling Park is as good as it gets.

However, ALL the other washers and dryers were being using by the employees! I understand they have business they must conduct (they will wash your clothes for you, if you wish), however they should leave at least 1 washer and dryer open for walk-in customers. If we left our clothes to be washed, they wouldn't get our clean clothes back to us until mid-morning on Monday. That didn't work since we were departing early morning Monday.

You're given An option to have your clothes serviced by staff or yourself. There is a minimal price difference but a larger time difference. If you're not in a rush the staff will wash, dry and fold your laundry by days end. If your time is tight you can load a washer and time the cycle until it's done. Put your clothes in a dryer then wait for them to dry. Easy. Staff is delightful and very helpful. I rather do my own so I came back after a 35-45 minute wash and then came back after the 45-55 minute dry cycle. I just shopped and had lunch in between cycles. It was very convenient and well managed. Other travelers were taking advantage of their services too. Highly recommend this gem.

I think it's nicer to give business to these independently-run, smaller stationers than the larger corporations. The store has the usual - office supplies, envelopes, diaries (they even have some cute mid-year diaries), paper and printing products. It's not the most exciting store in the world, but it fulfills its purpose.
