Hard to finish, but had fun trying. Nutella & Oreo Mega Shake.

Admittedly I came here because I'd seen some great, beautiful Instagram pictures, and thought everything looked so good. I think I'd built Brighton Soul up too much in my mind and I'm disappointed that it didn't deliver. After looking through a smallish sized menu, I settled on a Nutella Mega Shake (mainly chosen for the Instagram potential) and Salmon Benny. I'd seen photos of the Salmon Benny on Insta before, and I thought I'd give it a try since I love salmon and eggs. It came out looking very different to how I'd seen it through social media and definitely not as pretty. I was a little put out that there was only one choice of bread (multigrain), and when it arrived, the toast was lost in a sea of eggs, salmon and kale, because they choose to just give you one thick slice. A second slice is needed to mop up the beautiful yolk from the eggs. The kale seemed thrown onto the plate, and overshadowed everything else. Because it's dehydrated kale, it totally looked lacklustre and unappealing. Thankfully everything tasted ok, but had to leave much of the kale as there was just way too much of it. As for the Megashake ... it was definitely pretty to look at, and not something you'd order ongoingly if you make another visit. Full of oreos, wafer biscuits, M&M's, chocolate fudge and fairy floss (to name a few things), it's very pleasing on the eye, but hard to finish. The flavour was very nice, but it was too rich to fully indulge in. The service here was very pleasant and prompt; I can't fault the service or the cleanliness. I did find it a little expensive for what it was. Not sure if the Brighton location is what boosts the price or not, but I've tried it once, and unless there's a revamped menu with a bit more selection, I'll keep hunting around for other cafes to visit.

Food: Brighton Soul has one of those menus where everything sounds yummy! A few dishes sound a little over complicated which put me off but once your food actually comes it's a lot simpler and more elegant than it sounds. Portions are a little small for the price but I ordered the crumpets and they tasted great and were presented beautifully! Atmosphere: Brighton Soul is a very typical Melbourne cafe - exposed brick, metal/industrial feel etc. We went on a Sunday mid morning and it was constantly busy with a suburban, relaxed feel. Service: Service was ok. Not great, staff seemed a little disinterested and made little effort to chat or make us feel welcome. However service was prompt and staff were fairly attentive. Would I go back: yes - for the menu. There are so many options I wanted to try. Both our meals tasted lovely and I can definitely overlook the small portions and slightly poor service to return to try more of their lovely options. Would I make it my regular brunch spot - not really, but it's definitely worth trying if you are in the area.

Conveniently located near Middle Brighton station. Decent coffee but unimpressed with 2x slices of toast for $6 with the least generous schmear of peanut butter I've ever seen. Saying the tide was out would be an understatement. Stick to the coffee!

"...LOVELY LITTLE CANTONESE MEAL IN CAULFIELD SOUTH..."…read more Sunday before Chrissie we took advantage of a '3 course meal with a drink' Groupon Deal at PRINCESS @ ELSTERNWICK in Glenhuntly Road, Caulfield. It was truly lovely... nothing to rave to anyone about, but thoroughly enjoyable... -Food was timely, generous and good - none of us could really fault anything we had.. -Service was impeccable - patient, attentive.. -Restaurant is small, but very light, airy and actually quite feminine in decor - not at all expected - a nice surprise... -Papers, magazines and books to read - a great idea for grumpy teenagers, denied their devices for an hour or so, to flick through whilst eating.. or waiting to eat.. or deciding what to eat..!! Anyway, from the 'traditional Cantonese menu' we chose 4 entrees, 4 mains, 4 desserts and then chose 4 cold drinks from the fridge.. ALL for $58..!! We added 4 soups, 1 large Special Fried Rice to share and another round of drinks for an extra $40. We'd all been VERY WELL 'fed and watered' for just under $100...!!! Will definitely go again.. Yes, without a voucher.. Menu and Take-away prices are very reasonable and good value for family dining. PS. We took BYO wine, not sure if it's licensed. Visited on Sunday 20 December 2015 for Dinner.

An awesome little place in an awesome little neighborhood…read more St. Moritz is an inviting little restaurant with a distinct European flare. It has an open airy atmosphere, fun lighting and a fantastic all night happy hour on Mondays. For a couple of yanks not used to $12 dollar beers this was a welcome development. And the Monday $1 oysters didn't hurt either! We started the meal with the truffled polenta chips and truffled mushroom arancini. Pretty much anything with the word truffled will instantly be ordered when I look at a menu. Both of these were crispy and delicious with excellent aioli dipping sauces lacing the plates. Being a couple of Americans we could not resist the Kangaroo carpaccio. It was good as a novelty but did not blow me away. The scallops and oysters were also very good. Hands down the best item we ordered, however, was the Lamb mint pea risotto. This was a masterful risotto prepared to perfection. A symphony of subtle flavors topped with perfectly medium rare pieces of succulent lamb. This dish could not have been better!

If you're looking for Vue De Monde then you're in the wrong place but if you're looking for something a little traditional and away from the hustle then you've come to the right place. Danube embraces the tastes of former Yugoslavia - with a Serbian influence, it really hits home for those with a Balkan background and also for those dining enthusiasts ranging from intermediate to expert tastes. Amazing Cevapi (mini mince sausages) to the Kajmak (thickened dairy cream) on home made bread, it's certain to tantalise your tastebuds. If you're lucky (and generally on Thursday nights) you'll have a chance to dine to the sounds of traditional Balkan music - performed by four very talented musicians - it's a wonderful experience and a very entertaining evening for all. To wrap it up, Danube is a small hidden away Gem that - once uncovered - will continue to shine for those who appreciate something a little different with very satisfying results!! 5 stars and extremely happy customer!!

Our table took up most of the room and I felt sorry for the other 8 diners as our table talked non stop waiting for food to appear after an hours wait. The food,,,, Don't expect finesse, more homely cooking, tomato, cucumber feta salad, sauerkraut and chopped onion accompanied the grilled meat. Baby lamb chop, sausages chicken breat and then another plate of long sausages. All quite tasty but the lamb was too well cooked for my taste.. Dessert was two crepes filled with sweetened ricotta and sultanas, very filling but delicious, one would have been enough.for me but I noticed most guests had cleaned their plates! Go if you want a taste of the Balkans.
