The atmosphere is incredibly supportive and respectful and I've received tips and cheers from strangers, which I appreciate the most. I recommend going early in the morning if you can because it can gets very busy. They charge 10 euros for 2.5 hour session +3 euros if you need to rent shoes. The front desk staff are very kind and helpful, and the cafe makes great coffee, snacks and energy bars.

The problems are graded in some modified version of Fontainebleau (i.e. color-coded), which allows for less nuanced differentiation than the V scale. My personal interpretation of the grading system is as follows... Yellow- Similar to a VB grading. I would describe these problems as ladders. Blue- Maybe V0 to V1. Some technique for footwork and weight-shifting is useful if you'd like to climb with grace and as little strength as possible, but not necessary if your goal is just to finish. All the holds are huge, and I've seen some people use brute strength to finish these types of problems. There is also some volume climbing and top-out climbing here too. Green- Approximately V2 to V3. This is where the funs begins. Some are warmup routes. For others, the handholds get crimpy and smaller footholds require precision and balance. The variety of problems provide lots of technical practice. Even some problems with dyno moves! Red- V4 to V5. Very difficult. Expect to spend lots of time here. Grey and Black- There's supposed to be some differentiation between these, but I would lump them all as "Is it possible to climb these?!" Disclosure: I'm too intimidated to actually try. A single day pass is €10, and the 11er card for €100 looks like a decent deal. If I lived closer, the half year or annual subscriptions would be completely worth it. P.S. Lock rentals require a deposit of €5.

They break the problems in 7 difficulty levels but really I think there's more like 4.. but who cares the important is that they are well marked. Holds are very clean considering the amount of traffic. I was there around noon on a Saturday and it was a good amount of people - enough to find people to work on problems with but not too many that you had to wait. Plus the place is super family friendly with a "kinderland" for the little ones. I will definitely go back when I am in Berlin. Thanks Ostbloc!

Mit vielen offenen Stellen außerhalb des Kinderbereichs für einen Hund zu schlafen. Ich fragte, ob der Hund freundlich sei, und die Frau, deren Hund es war, sagte, sie sei sich nicht sicher. Daraufhin bellte der Hund und versuchte bei zwei verschiedenen Gelegenheiten, mein Kind zu beißen, ohne dass ein Grund vorlag. Wir waren einfach nur vorbeigegangen. Ich fragte sie, ob es einen anderen Schlafplatz für den Hund gäbe, worauf sie antwortete, die Lösung sei, den Hund nicht zu stören. Sehr wenig hilfreich und ziemlich egoistisch. Ich würde dringend davor warnen, Kinder hierher zu bringen, leider. We were very excited to try the kids area. When we showed up there was a dog sleeping on the couch located directly in front of the kids area. With many open places outside of the kids area for a dog to sleep. I asked if the dog was friendly and then the woman who's dog it was said she wasn't sure. The dog then proceeded to bark and try and bite my child on two different occasions unprovoked. We were simply passing by. I asked her if there was another place for the dog to sleep to which she replied the solution is not to disturb the dog. Very unhelpful and rather egotistical. Would highly warn against taking kids here sadly.

Es gibt 3 Schwierigkeitsgradeich selbst bin bei 1.'leicht' geblieben:-). Wir waren dort an einem dieser schönen Herbstsonntage, war super, da es nicht allzu voll war und man nicht lange in der Schlage anstehen musste. Die vorgegebene Zeit von 2,5 Stunden ist vollkommen ausreichend. Nicht vergessen eine Kamera/Phone mitzunehmen, um sich ein Foto im schwebenden Trabbi machen zu lassen!
