Topp Homes/Solar Grids Central PA sets the bar - and sets it very high…read more We encountered Topp/Solar Grids and owner Todd Sanford at the PA Home Show; they left a great first impression with informative, straightforward, and personable initial conversations. Through a process where we met and secured quotes from about 6 roofing companies (some also did solar) and 2-3 solar companies (some also handling roofing), Topp/Solar Grids/Todd stood out for best interaction with a confidence-inspiring approach, economical project pricing, and quality materials. Our experience start-to-finish set a benchmark for roofing, solar, and contractors in general. Todd's initial home visit provided clear information on options for both roof and solar, including a clear explanation of Topp's Solar Grids partnership. He provided refreshing honesty, mentioning for instance gutters that were in good condition, so he ethically did not feel right suggesting we replace them. We had a solid layout on what to expect, timeframes, pricing and financing options, factors that impacted our bottom line (especially with the solar piece and costs/credits/benefits to consider), flow of the project, and how we would be kept updated throughout the process. That outline truly manifested as described throughout the entire project. Roof installation day was so efficient and expeditious that even our neighbors commented on how impressive the crew was. We have a very large roof (40 squares), which was stripped, repaired, underlaid, and ready for shingling within 4-5 hours; then shingles, ridge vents, details, clean-up, and load-out were finished within another 6-7 hours. One Saturday - done. Topp's roofing crew was exceptional - professional, considerate, lightning fast, thorough, and highly competent. Their crew lead even checked in throughout the day to ensure our dogs were not being overly stressed by the noise and process! The area was cleaned well and combed for straggling items not only on the day of, but even again in the later solar install day as a second pass. Solar involved the normal various approvals plus some electrical updates our home needed. Topp provided their electrician's options but was open and entirely collaborative when we wished to use our own past electrician. Navigating the PP&L approval process and securing the solar equipment went smoothly with regular updates, including Todd letting us know of a needed solar equipment change done without additional charge to us. The same crew and crew lead were back on solar install day showing the same skill and efficiency, plus their electrician and a solar engineer (bravo to a female engineer in a male-dominated role!). A 26-panel system was installed, tested, and completed within ~6 hours. Full approvals/inspections allowing us to go live also happened in communicated timeframes. The solar monitoring portal and PA SREC program portals set up for us by Topp are informative and helpful. Company owner Todd is passionate about providing customers with an exceptional experience; he demonstrated consistent follow-through, regular updates, positivity, sincerity, and a generous and collaborative spirit. Topp/Solar Grids is clearly appreciative of customer participation in the process as well as referrals. We were quite pleased our first referred friend had the same solidly positive experience with Topp/Solar Grids/Todd that we did. We are thankful we found Topp, Solar Grids, and Todd. Positive reviews, referrals to others, and future return to their services for our home projects are all easy decisions when the companies and people leave such exceptionally positive impressions, showing high-quality craftsmanship and valued customer treatment.

I am giving 1 star because 0 stars was not am option. Here is a long list of my concerns…read more Last August of 2025, I purchased a home solar system from Renu for a 10MW system spread over 3 array systems on my back porch roof, my back roof and my side roof. It took some time to finally get installed in November of 2025. When the install occurred it was done by a sub-contractor team from Florida that was a bit unprofessional and I had several issues with the install team and the install itself Including: * They left my job half unfinished for a few days until they returned * They made a mess of backyard with garbage strewn about and left garbage, debris, nails, and screws all over the back porch roof and back roof * They broke several shingles along the edge of my back porch roof with their ladders during the install * Some of the solar panels they installed were broken, and they left many of the connection wiring simply laying on the roof instead of correctly installed * And the most concerning is that they left several holes in my roof during the install, damaged other shingles with their safety ropes/harnesses and I continue to have some minor leaking issues in my ~3-year-old roof ever since the November install. I first reported the leaking in one of my spare bedrooms to the Renu team in December of 2025, but due to the harsh winter it took until mid-March for the team to come and do some remediation. In March - one of the Renu technicians came and found several drill holes that the sub-contractor team created and left without remediation, when fixing the broken panels. I provided about a dozen shingles, and he did his best to fix the issue of roof drill holes as well as the broken porch shingles, bad wiring, and broken solar panels. Even after that repair in late March, I am continuing to have minor water leak issues. Yesterday on 5/7 another team from Renu was at my house to install a critter guard due to an unrelated squirrel/critter guard issue. During their time at my house, I showed one of the guys that the water stain in my spare bedroom was getting darker/worse, and that I now have an additional small water stain mark forming in my office ceiling. (For context, the spare bedroom and office share a wall and the spots are roughly the same area on both sides.) One of the Renu technicians was very nice and accommodating and did his best to inspect the roof from above as well as enter my attic crawl space. During his brief inspecting he found even more drill holes in the side roof array where he could see clear daylight in my crawlspace, and he mentioned he possibly found the source of the water leak along the back wall, as well as some additional broken shingles along the ridge vent from where the subcontractor crew attached their rope/safety harnesses.

Then more years when you find out that your panels are obsolete. I've been getting calls weekly from different attorneys, wanting me to file suit for being misled, and lied to. I am about ready to take one of them up on this. We were told that if we found a lead and then installed that we would get $1000 for a finders fee. That was one big lie. Then when something goes wrong with your panels, you have to literally wait weeks maybe a month to have someone come up to work on them for they only have one person that does that kind of work.
