It is hard to know what to expect from a school if you are new to schools. We just assumed the…read moreGoddard School was like all schools...but it is not. We know this now since we quit the Goddard School and started with another one about 3 miles away and have had a totally different experience. Just know that the Goddard School infant room is chaos. One of the ladies was always so flustered. Babies always, always, always crying. Bright florescent lights on constantly. Music playing all of the time. Babies just laying around on the floor. 5 month old babies "holding bottles" and "feeding" themselves. Babies in the cribs crying and not being soothed in any way. Pacifiers overused. Babies sitting looking at a mirror on the wall crying. No one ever looked happy there! Our baby was miserable and always red and swollen and voice was hoarse from crying all day. It was awful. We are so happy now that we are no longer there. My co-worker's baby had the exact same negative experience and I tried to push it out of my mind but...Trust your intuition! The Goddard School did not feel right and it was not right.

We've had nothing but a positive experience sending our two boys to The Goddard School…read more We get along great with the teachers and staff and everyone really seems to care about childhood development. They are professional, warm, and always willing to provide additional guidance and support to us as new parents. The building and facilities feel safe, secure, and clean. This last year of global pandemic has presented the teachers and staff with so many unique challenges and they've navigated each one effectively and with grace. Deep down I know that these wonderful ladies do a much better job of taking care of my children all day than I could ever hope to do on my own. The curriculum always blows my mind and the best part is receiving photos of my kiddos throughout the day. My favorite photo was one of my son laying on the ground and painting a "fresco" onto some butcher paper taped to the bottom of a table. Seeing them learning and engaged always brings a smile to my face. Big thanks and love to all of you ladies for being there and helping us with the big and important job of raising our two sons.

Disappointed to leave this review, but I had what I consider, an unusual interaction with the…read moreDirector here and felt compelled to share. I was overjoyed to have found this school as the director, Gracie's curriculum approach is right in line with my ideas of littles education. I learned there was an opening in my daughter's age group, thrilled! When discussing a center tour, I was offered any weekday, 5:15pm start. I let her know I work in Austin and leave the office at 5pm and asked if it was possible to do a weekend tour. I was offered a 10am tour 2 Saturday's from the conversation date. The appointment day came along and unfortunately an incident with my Saturday sitter kept her from making it to my home in time for me to make the tour time, so bummed! I texted Gracie to let her know, she thanked me for the heads up on not making it. I moved on to what was going on with my sitter and about 25 min later I lopped back to Gracie and sent a text asking if she was avail to talk, noted that I assumed she was since we had a tour time blocked. I let her know I wouldn't take a bunch of time as I was in rout to work and had about 10 min to hopefully get general info on the enrollment process if accepted. An hour later she responds apologizing for missing my messages, that she was in a Pilates class. I replied, no problem and asked again if there was a time we could talk about the enrollment process. The text thread ended here with no reply through the weekend. Monday morning arrives and I receive a responding message from Gracie (screenshot attached). I couldn't help but find the correspondence confusing. Was she scolding me for my attempts to communicate with her on Saturday? Because I was given no indication that Gracie's weekends "have a no working policy", and why would I assume that, as she set the Saturday tour time. I was further confused by the emphasis on her center's drop off and pick up policy. I let her know that her drop off and pick up policy was something that I could accommodate and would she be available to talk with me? Gracie agreed to call me in about 1/2 an hour and she did. Now I will say, I was not pleased after reading the attached text message. It was my opinion the entire text should have been left to a conversation, so as to not risk a misinterpretation of tone and intent of delivery; which is what I tried to consider upon answering her call. I prefaced the conversation right out of the gate with my adoration of her concepts, and my hope and excitement in the possibility of an enrollment opportunity. I then quickly redirected the conversation to address what didn't make me feel good about the communication I was having with her up to this point. Gracie's response was immediately on the defense. I was told in further depth of her no weekend work policy and personal ownership of her work/life boundaries, and how important they are; I was told of a birthday party she had that weekend and the reasons continued on as to why our Saturday tread was left with no closure. I frankly explained to her that I understand the importance of a work/life balance and boundaries are important, but when you own a business communication and expectation management with the people you are doing business with is also important. She responded by describing herself as a "direct person who does not fluff things", and while this interaction was certainly not "fluffy", if she were so direct she would have let me know in some capacity, that she had no more weekend working hours and we could pick the conversation up once the work week started. At this point she reluctantly offers up a statement of "Okay, maybe I should have closed the communication with you ...". We move onto the drop off/pick up confusion. She gives me a whole story about another family who constantly picked up late, which causes a ripple effect of problems for her work/life balance. I found it aggravating to be held to the standards of strangers, but after this explanation, I reiterated that I could accommodate the policy no prob. With that, I thanked her for listening, asked if she felt comfortable rescheduling the tour? She called it water under the bridge and we set a tour for that week's Wednesday. I wake up Tuesday AM to the second (attached) text from her, and long story long - I felt it necessary to let people know, so they know as it felt judgey and aggressive. End of day, I do not what my child being taught by anyone who cannot positively participate in assertive, transparent communication; uses unfounded judgement in determining family participation; takes an excuses approach vs. a problem solving, accountability one when presented with concerns or critique. There's 2 sides to every story and I'm sure Gracie and her partner feel they made a justified decision; and my goodness, I feel like we avoided entanglement with people whose approach to and treatment of others represents a standard I can't find respectable in any way.

The Learning Experience Buda stood by our family through the most devastating chapter of our lives--My daughter's heartbreaking brain cancer journey, which ended a year ago. My daughter's greatest concern was always her little Waverly. She was the BEST MOMMA! TLE wrapped Waverly in love, stability, and unwavering support, helping her feel safe, cherished, and encouraged every step of the way. I have never encountered a school community that radiates such deep compassion, professionalism, and wholehearted dedication to every single child. Waverly has truly flourished because of your nurturing care. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for being there for our family. We will miss you as Waverly continues her journey in Kindergarten--confident, joyful, and well prepared for whatever comes next. With extreme Gratitude and Love to a special school TLE Buda.
