I've lived in the Beach for almost 40 years and have used Briggs many times for regular short trips. Within the last year, I've needed to see a specialist in New Brunswick on a fairly regular basis. I'm a senior and not comfortable driving from the Beach to New Brunswick for a doctor's appointment. I called Briggs and they are the answer to my problem. They drive me to and from the doctor's and wait for me during the visit on a regular basis. They are always on time, their driver (Tom) is pleasant, caring and a pleasure to be with. I highly recommend Briggs for long trips as well as local service. read more

I called Briggs a few weeks ago to inquire about a ride following my wedding from the venue to the "after party". This was a last minute thing we decided to include, so we wanted to do it affordably. I asked how I went about scheduling a 14 person van to arrive and pick up anyone who wasn't feeling entirely safe to drive. The woman on the phone told me that if the van was full it would be approx. $150, which seemed reasonable, so I asked if I could pay them on the spot. She told me it was better to hold off because the price was per person, so if we had fewer than 14 people it would be less. She suggested my best bet was to pay cash the day of. I thanked her for the advice, and she told me that she would put my reservation "on the board". Cut to two weeks later. My wedding planner called to confirm all of my vendors, and when contacting Briggs they tell her that this isn't how they book vans out, and if I want to book van service it would be $75 per hour with a 4 hour minimum. Otherwise it was just a "taxi call", for which I could call an hour before, and they would send someone out if there was someone available to send. Not a particularly solid option, especially during summer on the jersey shore. So I called back. I explained that I had already spoken to someone who told me that they had put me in for a reservation, and I explained the information as they had given it me. I let her know that she had said she put our reservation "on the board" and could someone please check if there was a board somewhere. The woman on the phone told me that I booked nothing, refused to look at the "board", insisted that I was mistaken, and suggested that I must have just called for information previously. She kept pushing their "hourly rate." I let her know that I HAD in fact spoken to someone who told me that they had reserved a van for me, and that even if I HAD "just called for information" the information I was given was certainly NOT what she was telling me now, so someone had clearly made a mistake along the way somewhere. She continued to insist that I must be mistaken, and that none of their staff had done anything wrong. Now, I don't pretend to be a captain of industry, but when a potential customer is explaining that they had a phone conversation with an employee that has lead to a potentially really frustrating mistake, it is customary to apologize for this error, and typically would not be considered great customer service to continually blame the customer for it. I told her that if in fact there was some sort of form that was filled out, a file in a computer, or scrap of paper somewhere with my reservation, if she comes across it I just need her to cancel it. At this point my worry was that whatever reservation was made would turn up at some point and they would show up on my wedding day expecting to be paid. She insisted there was nothing to cancel so she wouldn't even entertain the notion. I explained that I felt the situation has been so mishandled and the customer service I had received was so frustrating and rude, I would not trust them to provide any service for me ever. She then accused me of "screaming" at her (I was not), and that she would be hanging up if I continued to speak to her this way because she won't be "screamed at". I disconnected the phone at this point because I realized she was an indignant idiot who would rather be "right" then preserve a customer relationship. I've called several other local cab companies since this happened to get prices, and none of them have had a problem with booking a passenger van in advance in the way Briggs originally described. I now do not believe that Briggs actually has a policy against this. I believe they saw a potential opportunity to extort more money when they heard the word "wedding", and refused to back down when the situation was questioned. Highway Robbery and RUDE! Called for a cab this past Saturday from lakewood to point pleasant train station at 1:35 and was told 20 minutes. 35 minutes later and 3 phone calls the taxi shows up. At this point I am going to miss the train at point pleasant and tell the driver to go to Manasquan. he calls in the fare to the woman dispatcher and she quotes almost double the cost to Point Pleasant. I call her on the phone and she hangs up on me. I call her again and tell her it is Highway Robbery and because of her I have to go to Manasquan and should not have to pay more than the Point Pleasant fare (plus it is the same mileage!) she was rude and condescending and instead of apologizing for their lateness basically yelled at me. I will never call for their cabs again. Its unfortunate because the driver was actually great and got us to the train with 15 seconds to spare. read more

Dennis is a nice guy...but be sure to spell out what you want. I spoke to the company about a limo two months prior to the date requested. I described that it was for a celebration. When I called to confirm the day prior, they informed me that I would be getting a 'party bus.' They didn't not have a limo large enough for my party, which was specified at the time of the reservation. To Dennis' credit, he tried to make it right by offering a small limo and a town car but I wanted my party to be altogether in a single vehicle as I requested. The biggest disappointment was that the 'party bus' turned out to be a shuttle for disabled persons. The shuttle was very rickety and the driver was not very smooth. It was a troubling experience for a birthday party. I would not recommend using them. read more

They don't call and confirm the right people...I've received repeated calls to pick up "Dolores," but I'm not Dolores..she put her number down wrong...after telling you numerous times I'm not her, I finally had someone tell me today to call her medical company today to fix the issue. No, I'm not doing that, that's illegal. Also, Dolores doesn't know when you're picking her up, or won't be picking her up, because you keep calling me. Someone please fix this, ask Dolores if and when you see her, what her correct number is and stop calling me at all hours of the day. I worry for your other passengers. I have used Briggs for the last 4 summers for my daycare summer trips - approximately 7 times a summer. The nicest staff! Very accommodating with last minute adjustments for transportation needs. Always on time and very efficient! I now use them for my mother in law to go to doctors appointments as I need wheelchair transportation. I've never had a problem - EVER! I called ahead for the cab at 11:30am saying I needed a pick up at the train and they told me to call back when I was coming thru Manasquan. I called at 11:55 saying I was coming through Manasquan and she told me 15-20 minutes. At 12:25 I called back asking where my cab was and whoops, she sent him to the wrong train station! He should have been there by 12:30, but didn't show up til 12:41. Needless to say I was VERY late to work. The only reason this place gets 2 stars is because the driver was very nice and recommended a more reliable cab company. Dispatch was extremely rude and unreliable. read more

Briggs is not a company for the locals. In the shore community I understand how they want to overcharge tourists, but when you charge locals $20 a head no matter how short the distance, have inconsistent pick up times, and horrible social skills, there is no reason to take Briggs over another cab company or Uber. I don't like writing negative reviews but when me and 6 friends all share separate horrible stories about Briggs, something needs to be said. read more

I made this account just to write this review I am so mad at this company. Forget about the sub par experience I have every time I need a taxi to go to the train for work during the morning. Whenever the woman answers the phone in the morning I know there is a chance I may not make it to the train on time when I'm calling 45 mins before the train is due and I live 5 mins from the station by taxi. About 1 week ago I called to catch the early train and a younger man answered the phone he asked me for my information but there was this loud noise in the background of some men having a conversation. It was so loud I could clearly hear a few men talking and laughing and saying the most disgusting racist things I have ever heard in my life. I was so shocked I almost hung up right then but I thought maybe what I heard was wrong. I asked the younger man to repeat himself and he asked me for my info again but still the conversation in the background continued so I said never mind and hung up. I have never heard such foul and racist things said in my life it was disgusting and I will never give this place my money ever again. I would rather call an out of town company and pay more or wake my husband up early and have him take me than use this company ever again. My girlfriend and I were at a marina and we decided to go to Point Pleasant. We called for a taxi we told them exactly where we were he said it would be about a half hour. The dispatcher called me back and said the taxi is there . He didn't even come back to where we were started walking up through the marina we saw the taxi we got up there he was gone. Called the dispatcher back and told him taxi left. Hey did not care and said he's not coming back. He didn't even give us time to get up there. They were rude and obnoxious. next time one of these vultures lurk outside a bar in point pleasant or point beach let them know by law they are not allowed to accept street fares since they have OL and not OT plates. with OL plates they are supposed to have all rides pre arranged, which is what the OL plates are designed for. to accept street hails they're supposed to have OT (TAXI) plates. using OL plates for hails is actually illegal since all taxis have to be licensed in the town they pick up. kinda sucks when people who know the law leaves a review letting folks know you're operating illegally huh? read more

DO NOT use this cab company, using them is at your own risk. They pretend to be good, but very unprofessional. One of their drivers and dispatch officer pull a shady deal on me, they quote you one price before the trip and a different price at end of the trip without detailed explanation how they came up to such figures and when you challenge and ask why the price went high in such a bogus manner, they call the cops on you right away and have the cops question you in public, in such a way like you did something wrong for asking questions. It is a shame that this happens most of time to people of color, wasting the cops time over silly issues based on their shady business. SHAME read more

I was in Manhattan, planning to take a train down the shore and a cab from Pt. Pleasant to Brick, NJ. I would arrive in Pt. Pleasant around midnight. This was the second time I was making this trip. I had not taken Briggs Taxi the first time because of the one review. But......no other cabs were available! I called Briggs about 11:30pm while on the train. When I got to Pt. Pleasant, around 1am, there was no one there. Uh-oh. I called them again - while I was on the 'phone the cab appeared. A very pleasant guy helped me with my luggage, drove me to Bricktown, charged me HALF what the other cab company had charged me. What else can I say? The cab was immaculate; I felt secure abut the driver's driving ability. You know I will take Briggs exclusively from now on. read more

I have been using Briggs on and off for about 3 years now, mostly at night, to go to and from my favorite bars. I have had little to no problems other than a longer wait than i was told from time to time, which during a busy night is understandable. A few days ago i needed a cab during the day around 12pm and the woman that answered the phone was the worst.! She was so rude and just outright mean. She told me about 10-15 mins and after about 25 i called back and was met with even more rudeness. I ended up waiting around 40 mins just to go about 3 miles to a friends house, and when i called back for a second time i was met with so much attitude like i was doing something wrong by calling for a cab. I tried to give her my phone number to call me when they were outside so i didn't have to stare outside my window and wait (Which they do at night every single time without me even asking) and she rudely told me we don't do that and to just sit and wait and then she hung up on me. It was so bad i thought i was being punked or something. Worst service ever!! And the few times since then during the day always have a problem getting picked up even close to how long they tell me . Its like the place during the day time is a different business is so strange and every time i call i feel extremely disrespected. read more

I don't get all the negative reviews! I called Briggs after they were recommended to me by Ocean Housing Alliance. My brother is a resident at the Valentine House in Point Pleasant Beach, and I dearly wanted him to come to my house in North Jersey to share Christmas. However, he gets quite upset being away from his home for more than a day, and there was no way we could drive down there on Christmas morning to get him. Pat at Briggs went out of her way in the days proceeding to find someone to bring my brother up to us on Christmas morning. She finally called us with the great news that she had indeed found him a driver. Chris was that driver and he arrived right on schedule as promised. These people went out of there way to accommodate my family, which made our holiday so much brighter. I would highly recommend them and hope to use their services again for the next holiday. I booked a taxi to the train. The taxi was late so I called to ask the status. The said it was on its way. 10 mins later I called again. Same thing. Repeat a third time. Great Taxi/Limo service . We used Briggs this past Satuday Night for a concert and could not have been happier. Bob (driver) was on time cheerful , helpful and very knowledgeable of the venue. He also picked us up at the end of the evening and was exactly where he said he would be when he would be. We will 100% use these guys again. read more

We used Briggs two years ago to transport my wheelchair bound mother to my son's wedding. The driver was courteous and helpful throughout the trip. We recently started to use them for transportation to the airport. Drivers were prompt, drove in a safe manner and got us to the airport on time despite traffic. I only wish we had thought of using Briggs service sooner. read more

call uber! my 85 year old mother had a reservation with this place the driver showed up and stayed at the end of the driveway, leaning on the horn until she came out. we helped her out and got her into the van - he sat there - did not even get out to open the door for her - (the van by the way, stank of smoke and had cigarette burn holes in the upholstery - disgusting). he then says, very nasty, "so where are we going?" i say you do not know where you are going? he says no i dont - i say you are going to interlaken. he yells, "what?!?! i thought i was going to the train station around the corner". i say, do you have gps he says no i dont! i say hold on im going inside to get my phone and call your company - with that he takes off!! with my 85 year old mother in the car!! i call them in a panic and am told by pat that they have him on their gps and will watch every move he makes - not comforting - and then she says well i dont want to call him and upset him while he has your mother in the car. !!! even less comforting. meanwhile my mother has to tell him how to get there and every turn to make. he was driving like a maniac. she was so frazzled by the time she got there that she was shaking and crying. then she paid him $35 in cash because she forgot that she had given them her credit card to charge the fare and he took it. (the company refused to give me this guys name by the way) i called them again and they said they would send a refund or bring it by. we did receive the check a week later but it was made out to my 11 year old niece (have no idea where they got her name) when i called them they insisted that the reservation was made in her name which is just not true - and they continue to argue with me - i said just send us a new check made out to my mom - she said "i will not send out a new check until i get the other one back!" !!!! do not use this company! horrendous! read more

I contacted Briggs to figure out the cost of cab from the Point to Brick...I was connected to a Pat who was terribly rude and told me "We're not giving out prices now". I then further clarified that I just wanted the info before placing my ressies, she then claimed she needed the addresses...i called her back with that and she then said she would not give me a rate till i was ready to take the cab. Worst taxi company I have ever attempted to deal with. The office told me the cab would be at my destination in 25 minutes. After 40 minutes I called back to be assured my taxi was on its way. Another half hour goes by and I call back again only to be assured my cab is on its way in a rude manner. After another 40 minutes I called back to tell them not to bother coming. I highly recommend calling the other local taxis in the area to avoid being stranded for the night as I was. read more

I had the Ocean Care Medical center call for a taxi for me they called Briggs. Located less than a half mile away - it took 27 minutes and two calls to get a cab. I was on yelp looking for another company when the cab pulled up. So I opened the door and there was another passenger inside. I was shocked but the driver said no I'm taking you both. Well since I was not feeling great and now it was after 10:00pm I just wanted to get home I got in. He then dropped the other passenger off and then myself. No meter in the cab. They charged $12 for the ride. I'm told it was a flat rate but I live less than 4 miles from where they picked me up. Whatever, I was I'll and just wanted to get home. I would have driven myself but was just to dizzy to drive. Next time I will make sure I have other ways to get to and from. Briggs was not prompt, not courteous, the taxi reeked of smoke and I feel that to charge full fare for a shared ride is ridiculous. I will never or take or recommend this taxi company to anyone.
