I…read morechose Dr. Murolo as my dentist after moving to this area in Fall 2024, and even though I had no pain or problems with my teeth he told me that I have 4 fillings that are old and need to be replaced. So I do, but now two of the fillings that he replaced hurt anytime I eat. It is extremely frustrating to have had no problems with your teeth, and then you go see the dentist and all of a sudden your teeth start hurting. He says the bite needs to be adjusted, and so I get the bite adjusted . . . 4 different times. Each time it takes more than a week to get an appointment for a 5 minute procedure. Also the pain is getting better with each adjustment but it's not disappearing. So finally it's decided that the fillings need to be re-done, and it takes almost a month to get an appointment for this. (Seriously - I messaged them on 12/17 and their earliest appointment was 1/14). Then when I get there they claim that I was late and they can't see me for another two weeks. Also at this point the pain has gotten much worse for some reason - my teeth are now constantly hurting and food is getting stuck in between the two fillings every time I eat. It is literal agony but they will not give me an appointment. I can't stand the pain anymore and find another dental practice whose angel of a dentist agrees to see me for an emergency appointment the next day. When I get there they discover that the fillings that Dr. Murolo did BROKE after only three months and bacteria had entered the site. That's why the pain had become so severe all of a sudden. It's so bad that the new dentist re-does my fillings on the spot, but it costs me $300+ because my insurance will not cover a re-do so soon on the fillings. I am so happy to be pain-free now but had a terrible experience with this practice and would not recommend them. Impossible to get an appointment in a timely manner and like I mentioned, fillings broke after only three months, which I can't believe is even possible. Last of all front desk was terribly unprofessional and kept sending us $500+ bills and claiming my husband did not have insurance . . . ma'am, you spelled his last name wrong, that's why you couldn't find him in the insurance system. Told her this and she just giggled and blamed it on "multitasking." There are so many great dentists out there (including the new one I randomly found while desperately searching for an emergency appointment) that you should not waste your time with this practice.

Also, a high quality front office staff member is crucial to your billing accuracy and Elizabeth is fantastic. I got a little worried a month ago when they suddenly dropped my Delta Dental coverage, but I just found out it's back! I'm glad Dr. Lieu reconsidered this for so many of us, as they are the largest dental carrier for millions of civil service workers. The staff is unprofessional and rude, their prices are absolutely outrageous and I will never use them again, they completely destroyed my son's front tooth. Despite the good Yelp reviews, my expectations were pretty low, and I was pleasantly surprised to find that this is a mighty fine dental office. The office itselt isn't particularly fancy or super modern but everyone was really nice and Dr. Machado was extremely personable and gentle. He was very patient with and amused by my completely unfounded low dental self-esteem and general conviction that my teeth resemble a jagged row of Corn Nuts. I had a thorough exam, a gentle cleaning and although there was one small problem found, the good doc was straight with me about how quickly it really needed to be addressed. As a special bonus, I even learned a new flossing technique (I'm a super dedicated flosser who feels negligent if I don't floss 2x daily, so I thought I knew it all). I will be very happy to return to Dr. Machado for future care and would be glad to make him my official dentist as future insurance coverage allows (he is open to new patients).
