Bought breakfast sandwiches for myself and sons here this morning. OMG amazing, we are very picky about eggs being scrambled, the eggs were perfect as was the bacon, nice and crispy. My son had the belly buster sandwich and he loved it, it made a high school football player full and I'm so grateful for that, lol. Rock Deli is awesome. They're fair priced for their delicious sandwiches and the guys at the counter provide fast and friendly service. Haven't tried their breakfast but their lunch subs are solid. Their gyros are one of the best I've had in Jersey! Daily soups are homemade and never disappoint. They're tucked away in a little strip mall and can get quite busy between the hours of 12-1PM. A UPS facility is right across the street so you'll see many of their employees here during their lunch hour. Come before or after the lunch rush if you want a seat for lunch. They only have about 6-7 booths. Definitely one of my favorite lunch spots in the area. read more

Why would you say the amount is one thing, then charge another? Oh because there's a 60 cent charge for orders under $10. Ok how about mentioning that upcharge or asking before you swipe the card? I called yesterday to ask if they offered curbside pickup. The lady who answered the phone said they did and that they would run out the order to my car when I got there. When I got there, the owner anwered the phone and asked why someone can't go in. I told him we were told curbside was available, and that's why we placed the order. He came out and condesdendingly told us not to be afraid. I didn't appreciate this because he doesn't know our situation. I live in a high risk household and keep my direct contacts to a minimum; however I do want to support local businesses during this pandemic. If he didn't want to offer curbside, instruct his staff not to do it, instead of talking down to a customer. read more

I had such high expectations, but what I ended up with was just average. I ordered a corned beef Reuben, and right off the bat the guy was like "you don't want pastrami?" No, I want corned beef... which is why I asked for a corned beef reuben. Even when the cook read back the order he was like "only corned beef?" So I guess their usual Reuben is not a corned beef reuben. I was also asked kraut or slaw, and Russian or mustard. The sandwich was nice and hot- bread toasted nicely, cheese melted, good amount of dressing but not to messy. The disappointment was a a big, stringy section of corned beef that was just gross. Impossible to crew and swallow- and it was about 1/4 of half the sandwich. Yikes. 2 stars. I took home an Italian sub, and it was good but nothing spectacular. I'd give that a 4. Bread was a little soft, but good ratios of meat to veg and perfect amount of oil and vin. Average is a 3. Nice local option. No need to drive far to check this place out though. read more

Coming from a NY deli background I would call myself a Deli Snob! I'm not afraid to say it! I sneer at places that don't have any business calling themselves a deli. Well Rock Deli is a real freaking DELI! I am proud to say that I am a regular here and on first name basis with "the guys". The owner Angelo is a constant. A real working man running a real working man's deli. The food is generous, the prices reasonable but most importantly the place is CLEAN and the service is with a smile and conversation. The standards are high and the quality is consistent! I am only too happy to put my money down for the sandwich and to support a group of good guys. First heard about this place from a friend. Then saw an article that Rock had the 2nd best pork roll in Central Jersey. Therefore, had to go. Pork roll was obviously fantastic. I also have had a Gyro which was moist and delectable on some tender falafel bread. Rock keeps it simple so do not think you can get fancy with this place. Asked for spinach and no spinach. They deliver consistent delicious basic sandwiches and some other items. Located in a small run down classic jersey plaza. Same plaza as the Spa where the curtains are pulled ever so shut... Came here while I was in the area for a wedding. Ordered an Italian with everything on it. I made sure to check with the order taker that everything means oil vinegar and hot peppers, and no pickles. He confirmed. They gave me a skimpy Italian with lettuce and tomato, no hot peppers and served it with a big long dripping pickle slice. Into the trash with that thing. I was with family and didn't want to send it back so I just ate it in the mild fashion they served it to me. No one looked over the counter and asked how everything was, other than to ask if we were all set (to pay for it). The workers were pretty amateurish, joking around with each other in Spanish the whole time we were there. I guess they do so well here that taking care of the guest isn't really important. Average food, poor service. Too many delis around, no need to return. read more

When I think breakfast sandwich for this area, fast food comes to mind, stuff like Dunkin' or McDonald's. The small-business places are almost always better, and this place is imho the best in the area. Another yelper mentioned the bread and I have to agree, it makes this place great. Had high expectations for this place coming in, its pretty much straight up a deli/grill with limited seating. Really a takeout place as most deli's are. I saw some pictures of some other yelpers so I decided to give it a try. I must say the sandwich I got tasted good the size of the sub was a little underwhelming. Generally I expect a sub to be packed mine was a whole sub but wasn't really stuffed enough as one would expect. I don't know if this is normal or maybe they changed strategy. I did notice they were weighing out the meat for another sandwich so maybe that is why it was much less than seen previously. Very good deli! First time there today. I ordered something I saw in a review made about 3 years ago and it was a jefe sandwich which is 3 egg whites, green peppers, potatoes, cheese, salt pepper and ketchup and that's what I got on a white roll.... If there were a sixth star to give no doubt about it. Rueben here as good as its advertised! Had some good rueben at Goodmans deli and so-so one at Cozy Cnr in Union, but this one is top notch for the value and deliciousness.
