I think it's the fear that my lack of knowledge will mean being taking for a ride by someone that sees me as an easy target. I knew my tyres were bad when someone commented on them while at a petrol station. I smiled politely and mentally put 'tyre' higher up on my To Do list. I went to a tyre shop near work (referred by a male friend) but they quote seemed excessively high and I had the distinct feeling I was being sold bigger and better than required for a little hatchback that did 10,000kms each year on the city streets. I then drove to a tyre shop near home for a second opinion. I drive past this shop every other day and it felt vaguely familiar. I crossed my fingers and ventured inside the modern waiting area. Yes, I needed four new tyres and they needed to be ordered in as my Toyota Corolla (the most popular car on the road) needed a a special size or something. Despite my scepticism, I got them for a really great price and the service was great. They even offered me a free check up down the track. All in all, a good experience and I'll definitely be back (but not until another stranger points it out).

I phoned them at 8am and was back home, tyres fitted, 30 mins later. When I rang they informed but not pushy, I told the man exactly what I wanted and was given a price that was good. He didn't try and sell me anything else or extras which I liked. When I got there they were friendly and my car was taken straight away while I waited in the seated area. The job was done quickly as promised and I left pleased! This place was cheaper then the big boys, not by a lot of $$ but enough to make me go back there again!

I really wonder how this stuff gets onto the road in the first place. Both times it was a screw or nail. Must be stuff flying off the back of tradies utes. Nonetheless, tires are not cheap. Lucky that some tires can be repaired. This is a great option if the tire is almost brand new with a puncture. If you get a good tire specialist, they will let you know if it can be repaired. But be sure to ask them to check. This Bob Jane is under new management. There is one bad review here, but I was informed that only in the last months a new business owner bought it out. And my experience was very different than described by the other reviewer James K. I was dealt with in a professional manner, they staff member was happy to look into helping me repair the tire rather than replace it. They checked all my tires for road safety and even switched around the tires to give me even wear. The whole service took around an hour. They had a waiting room, but without a television or radio. I think they were refurbishing it. Might be a good idea to keep people entertained while they wait. As for myself, I was fine as I had my laptop to work. They repaired my tire and a grand total of $45 and a handshake. I will return here to replace my tires when they are ready to be replaced. I really liked that I was treated with respect. Not all tires treat women this way. It's nice to see!

I have a few young men in my life who care about their cars. They have all said positive things about Maxi Tyres and I went along to check what I had been told. Yes they are friendly. Yes they seem to be able to do jobs quickly without it being more expensive than you would think, or they quote, and the place is pretty big. Nice guys, fair prices.

I had to take my car twice for a simple regular car service…read more Once there was no break fluid available and they only could change the oil and filter and asked me to return the car after x-mass holidays. On my return from holiday I noticed that the cooling water is not tapped as well and asked them to fill in the water. surprisingly this time they forgot to put the cooling water cap in its place and I noticed this after one week and the water was below minimum level this time. Fortunately enough the cap was still there trapped between the engine wires and I could fix it by myself.

The guys are always really friendly and helpful and, although, the place is often crowded with annoyed people, they manage to stay calm and friendly. It's a bit of a pain to drive in here, depending on which side of Payneham road you're coming from but once you're there, there's usually enough parking space. Their office is quite small but they tried to make it as convenient as they can if you have to wait for a longer time by putting heaps of magazines, a TV, a water dispenser and toilets in there. As I drive into the local tyre repair place, all I think of is OMG how much is this going to cost me. Walking into the shop the first thing my eye is drawn to is the TV in the corner which is on and the two really nice looking black leather couches. I walk up to the front counter thinking 'I'll have to make a booking and come back some other time', and am greeted by a nice tall man (mind you anyone over 5' 4" is tall). I proceed to tell him what I think the problem is and he suggests I go make myself comfy whilst he goes to have a look. Upon scanning the coffee table for something to read other than car magazines, I see there are several female orientated ones amongst them. I pick up Adelaide Matters (which I love) and start flicking through the pages. Soon after, he walks over to me rolling along my back tyre and proceeds explain what the problem is, what needs to be done and his recommendations to fix further issues. My new spare tyre sitting in the boot is not going to completely solve the issue and I decide to go with his recommendation of changing the two back tyres so they balance up the back of my vehicle and to replace the front two tyres in six months time. A short time later, wham bam, and it's done....now that's service! He made my purchase a lot less painful especially by pointing out my current tyres are $100ea more expensive than the brand he was putting on and were also much better quality. All in all I was looked after with service, quality and comfort, by someone who takes pride and care in their job, local community and especially their customer.

They do a great job with servicing, they replaced a panel on a car for us once, going above and beyond to find the parts, slightly modify the second-hand-new panel and complete the replacement. This morning my mother noticed two of my brake lights had stopped working and after a quick phone call I was invited to bring my car up. The two lights were replaced straight away by a lovely mechanic and it was so reasonably priced I almost didn't believe it. Would highly, highly recommend this great, local business.
