The acoustics of this room serve the purpose of the concert but much improvement is needed with regard to the sound system. During the opening act last night, it kept going on the fritz. While the venue looks ginormous, the seats are extremely uncomfortable. There is very little space left for you to stand up and dance. There was a guy in our row that had to constantly get up to go to the bathroom and we all had to leave our row and empty out into the aisle to let him through because that's how tight it was. My husband, who is 6'3", was extremely uncomfortable because his knees kept knocking into the metal seat in front of him, so he had to angle his leg into my space just so he wouldn't cramp. While that was the case, I appreciated the ushers clearing the aisles by having all the other attendees move back into their seats (folks spilled out into the aisle to get more room to dance). It made going to the bathroom easier. Without these ushers, it would've been utter chaos. I hope they can update their seating because it's a basic component of a concert-goer's experience. Old school since 1931. We drove out in midweek traffic to see Cheap Trick perform live on stage. The campus offers free convenient parking within walking distance of the venue. The concert was almost sold out and the line for merchandise never ceased. We sat up on the balcony and the sound was great. They had a couple of bars open but the lines were long, these fans haven't stopped partying after all these years. read more

Came here as a plus one with a friend for a Beethoven's 9th performance. He scored free tickets and gave 2 of them to two lucky people in the standby line. This place is beautiful and something to be marveled at. The acoustics are amazing and I actually prefer this auditorium versus something like Segerstrom Hall, mainly because it's much smaller and makes for a much more intimate experience. If you have a chance to catch a performance here, do it. I believe they give out free tickets online for certain Friday performances and it's first come, first serve, but there's also a standby line. read more

This place is stunning. It was built in 1931. I've been coming here for years, I would come and see The Nutcracker by Inland Pacific Ballet years ago. But most recently I saw Shen Yun there. It was stunning. We wanted to sit on the balcony because there are no visual obstructions like posts or anything. The ceiling of the auditorium has the zodiac signs on it painted in blue silver and gold by Giovanni Smeraldi. The balcony holds 500 seats and the whole auditorium is 2,494 total seats. The workers were very nice and attentive and helped us to find our seats. They did provide water bottle for purchase once inside. read more

We went to see the Shen Yun performance last night. The theater is beautiful inside and out. The show was spectacular! The women's bathroom situation was insane with a line 20 or so deep each time we tried to go. The two little shuttles they had after our show ended at 9:15 pm could not keep up with the huge amount of people needing to take it back to the parking lot. People were walking on the shuttle not even getting in line. Very disorganized. We ended up walking all the way back to our car. read more

Terrible experience! Have lived here over 20 years, this was our first AND last visit to this venue. We purchased FRONT row seats due to a disability in hopes we would have an unobstructed view! No order and just chaos! People were all over the place and it felt as though we were in the middle of a mosh pit. About 3/4th's into the show a manager of some sort finally called order and sent people back to their seats. This was not an enjoyable evening! Matt Pavey please consider your patron's experience and empower staff to keep order. If I wanted a mosh pit I would attend something in LA not Claremont. read more

Came here to see The Little Mermaid by The Inland Pacific ballet. The Auditorium is inside the college. You have to park in the parking garage when you first drive in. It is free but you have to walk a little to get there. Box office staff were friendly and helpful. The place is very clean and has a nice decor. Greeters were very friendly so where the Usher's to help you find your seats. The seats themselves are comfortable but they are just to close together. The best seats in the House are obviously the first two rows and the balcony. Now it is kinda hard to see the performance if there's someone sitting in front of you. The show was so Beautiful and the stage setup props and costumes were Amazing! It it was a delightful show the music and choreography were spectacular! We would come back and see another show. Came to see the Little Mermaid ballet performance by Inland Pacific Ballet. The performance was amazing! The dancers, props, and lighting effects were awesome! I really enjoyed the added lighting effects the most! The auditorium was very nice and elegant! I loved the set up just not seating so much. It was hard to see because all seats are at the same level which was a downfall especially for all the little kids there to see the performance. The location of the auditorium is beautiful I really loved how green and open the college is, so as you walk out it felt very enchanted. Very nice, I saw many people taking pictures out there. Parking is free in the first parking structure as you enter on 1st street. From there the walk is up hill and about 5-7 minutes away from the auditorium. I recommend arriving early for performances due to that walk. read more

Whatever you do DO NOT attend an event here. We arrived an hour early and almost missed the start of the show due to the horrific parking situation. The shuttle is nice to get you from the remote parking to the venue, but be sure you arrive really early to ensure that you can park and be in your seat on time. We drive to the theater to see where it was and what the parking was like. And our intention was to go to dinner and come back. It's a good thing we didn't do that. I came here over the weekend to watch Shen Yun. It was a very beautiful and talent driven performance. The auditorium was great, the outside is so beautiful with the trees. The seats are comfortable, but not at an angle so if the person in front of you is tall you'll struggle to see the stage. My husband and I watched The Nutcracker at the Bridges Auditorium and we had a great experience overall. The auditorium is elegant and very well-maintained and there seems to be a great view of the stage from every seat in the house. The ushers were very friendly and I appreciated their assistance very much. The performance itself was absolutely wonderful! Now, unfortunately, not everything about our visit was great. For starters, parking is inconvenient as the only parking structure available is a bit of a walk away. This is certainly not ideal for elderly patrons or even for any patron during inclement weather. Secondly, it seemed that the auditorium does not have a bar/concession area inside and, instead, makeshift concession stands (literally folding tables) were set up outside the auditorium, where it was sprinkling. I would definitely return to Bridges but, given the two negative aspects I described above, I would opt for a different venue if available. read more

Also, the grading of the theater is not good so the floor seats were almost flat rather than higher as you go back. FIVE STARS FOR SHEN YUN!!!!! Talented dancers and singers, amazingly gorgeous costumes and a fun interactive backdrop. This is our second time seeing this show. Last time was in San Francisco this time at Bridges. The one star is for this awful venue. Parking is a nightmare. It's so far from the venue. Granted they had a shuttle service so me and my kids walked while my elderly mother who uses a cane waited for the shuttle. She waited so long in line while many able bodied patrons went ahead of her. It took forever, the line barely moved and none of the perfectly able bodied patrons offered to let my elderly mother go ahead of them. She finally gave up and hobbled up to the front to join us. They should save the shuttles for the handicapped and elderly. Literally nowhere to sit while waiting other than the staircase or on a wall. Why can't they have some benches?! There is more than enough room to situate sitting areas. Restroom situation is just as bad. Hard to go to the bathroom during intermission with 40 people in line ahead of you. There's more out back in trailers but impossible for my mom to get up the steep stairs to them with her cane. Once you get into the stifling hot auditorium be prepared if you're claustrophobic like I am. Seats are literally crammed together with no space or wiggle room. The slope of the theatre is a joke so everyone is playing wobble/bobble head rubber neck the entire show to try and see above and around the patrons head in front of them. Once the show starts most venues close the doors and don't allow inconsiderate late stragglers to interrupt they let them in during intermission instead. Not here. Multiple multiple late stragglers let in and since the seats are so crammed together it's like a game of twister to get everyone up and out and back in to make room for the late patrons. All the while blocking the view completely and made us miss much of a few of certain performances. I will absolutely see Shen Yun again but I will avoid this venue at all costs in the future for ANY show. I highly do not recommend!!!! read more

If I could give this theater zero stars I would. First, there is not enough parking for a performance that is near full capacity. The parking lots are blocks away from the auditorium and fill up quickly. We were directed to park at the Metro station, blocks away. There is minimal handicapped parking. There were shuttles from the parking areas to the auditorium but they were oversized vans that couldn't come close to holding the volume of people needing to get to the auditorium. If you had someone in your party in a wheelchair or with a walker, the shuttle was not an option. That left hundreds or people having to walk many blocks to get to the auditorium. Second, the bathrooms are not handicapped assessable. Some are in the basement (stairs) and some are out back in trailers (stairs). No option for handicapped who could not do stairs! Third, the temperature in the auditorium is hot as if there is no air. Overall, I will never attend any performance of any kind at this auditorium, no matter how much I want to see the show! read more

Wow! This venue is in our own backyard, and I can't believe it took us this long to check it out! We were here last week for a Willie Nelson concert. Although the auditorium is old, it is absolutely beautiful! I walked around staring up at the ceilings til I started bumping into people (see my pics!). You enter into a classic looking lobby and then there are two levels of seating, but i didn't get a chance to go up to the balcony. The seats are those charming flip up, old time theatre red velvet. Only bummer is the seats are not on an incline, so you will have difficulty seeing the stage if you have a tall person seated in front of you. As for the concert, i was once again pleasantly surprised with my husband's choice of entertainment. Mr. Nelson didn't make us wait too long, came on stage, and got right down to business--playing his music. No opening act, no chit chat, no video montage, just his best stuff. And did you know, he's almost 80?!! Of course, I only recognized a couple of songs since I'm not a follower, but I heard several others that I would intentionally put on my iPod. The musicians playing with Mr. Nelson were incredibly talented as well. There was a harmonica player that had me snapping my fingers and tapping my foot like Steve Martin in "The Jerk"! (You youngins go watch that movie, it's a comedy classic! ;-). During the show, Mr. Nelson had several hat and headband changes, and tossed his headbands into the crowd. At the end, he signed autographs and shook hands with his fans near the stage, and we like "dang, that's a cool as_ honkey!"* And before we left, we visited the souvenir stand, and we like, "yo, that's $50 for a t-shirt! Limited edition, lets do some simple addition . . . we call that gettin swinddled and pimped, we call that gettin tricked by a bizness!"* Sold! My kids had a dance competition here recently. The auditorium is located on the campus of Pomona College. A fine liberal arts college in Claremont California in Riverside County. It's part of the Claremont Colleges (Claremont McKenna, Pomona, Pitzer College, Scripps College and Harvey Mudd). This place is old. Not sure when this auditorium was build, but I'd have to say, they haven't remodeled recently, but could use one. While the seats in the audience area were nice and cushy, the space between the seats was not comfortable at all. Even when the seats were lifted up, it was a tight squeeze. I'm just lucky I'm not bigger than I am. I did see some others not so fortunate trying to get through the rows with modified success. The loading dock area was a bit of a squeeze as well. Our dance school had some pretty good sized props as did a few other schools. The loading dock was really only ideal for half of what was being used and stored. read more

Like most other reviews, this theater in the college is not a good venue for this show. I paid $269 for 2. First off, parking is not that bad as long as you get there an hour early. The venue is not very good ventilated kind of stuffy inside with a full house. Lots of heads in front of my view. Not enough restrooms during intermission. By the time I was done using the restroom and then waiting for my husband, we missed two dance sessions. Overall I felt the performance was still good but not sensational. I thought I missed two dances that I saw on TV that was not part of the performance. If you are Chinese or Asian that already watched Chinese dance performances on TV or in your lifetime, you probably can skip it. Please take Shen Yun Out of the Bridges theater... The seats are horrible and spent most my night staring at the back of peoples heads even tho we paid top dollar for the good seats. The seating to stage ratio is completely off. You cant see anything. The rows are so tight you have to be bone thin to get past peoples legs to your seat. One lady slightly heavy fell in my husband lap since she couldnt get past his legs. I have seen better seating in a cheap movie theater.. Bridges in Claremont completely cheapened and ruined the show and took something elegant and made it look like a cheap circus side show. Even ruined the costumes and made them look like a cheap carnival. If your going to be dazzled by Shen Yun, dont go to this theater to see it. It will ruin it. Not an enjoyable venue, to see a show. I am giving three stars to the venue, because of the beauty of the landscaping, beautiful ceiling mural, and convenience of not having to drive to LA. Otherwise, they would get less than two stars. I am very disappointed that I paid over $120 per ticket, for what should have been great seats, and my daughter and I couldn't see anything that happened in the center of the stage. There is barely any incline to the floor, to the front of the theater. So, when two tall people sat in front of us, we only saw the back of their heads, unless we cranked our necks sideways. I seriously had neck pain and needed a massage, after two hours of that. Another issue is there were several hundred women waiting to use around eight bathroom stalls. It took almost the entire intermission, and there were still about a hundred women waiting, after me. The venue needs some serious renovation, to make it more user friendly to women. I will not be buying tickets here, again. As far as Shen Yun is concerned, I would give them four stars. The dancing was very good, and the costumes were beautiful. I was surprised by the strong anti People's Republic and strong Chinese religious messages, but it makes sense. The show is apparently put on by people who saw their culture and religion wiped out by the Chinese Government. I think they could have done a better job of explaining, at the beginning, and making it more palatable to close-minded people, but oh well. I would go see it again, in the future, since the show changes yearly. read more

I like seeing shows at Bridges. It's a nice, local, old-fashioned and gorgeous venue. My only gripe here is they do not always use the A/C (I believe they do have it but I could be wrong). We saw a show recently and it was so stuffy inside that they opened the side doors to let some air flow. However, while performers were on stage, the noise from outside sometimes detracted from the performance. That said, I would have considered leaving if they closed the doors. It was just too warm! Parking for this venue is now at a free garage (I've parked there twice and have not seen anything about paying during shows so I'm assuming it's free). It's close to First Street and Columbia Ave. It's a pretty short walk from the structure to Bridges and other college venues. If you need handicap parking, I would pull up closer to your venue and ask security so you can hopefully get a spot much closer! Another parking option is to park on College Ave or in the village and just walk over. read more

This place is awesome, whether you are into Ballet or concerts this place has everything. I never would have expected such a cool little venue to be tucked away so close by, let alone that LMFAO, Taylor Swift and Willie Nelson have performed there. Let me preface this review by saying my husband and I have never walked out on any show, and we have seen many. Also we have never written a review for a show afterward. At first we thought that the show was going to live up to its hype... No way! Except for the costumes, which were very pretty. The show was very amateurish. I felt like we were at an elementary school show. The show also promoted propaganda and religion. This should be advertised with the show, to let people know what they are paying for, Tickets are pricey. Now the theater and the operations of the parking.They had a shuttle coming from the parking lot that took forever, As all the parking lots were full near the theater. We waited about 40 minutes for our shuttle on a very long line. There were many people that were disabled on our bus, my husband and I are older as well but we are able to get around fairly well. When we finally arrived at the theater, the men at the doors Kept saying hurry up hurry up the doors are going to close. When we got in the theater it was black dark. We were not able to go to Our seat even though the show had not started until the curtain closed. When it did close, the usher taking us to our seat sped ahead of us with a very small flashlight that had no light. The aisle to our seat was pitch black. I just had a knee replacement, I'm surprised I didn't kill myself. The seats at the bridges auditorium did not have much of a pitch and I couldn't see that much, unless I moved my head from side to side. By intermission my husband and I had had enough and walked out. It was our anniversary and we really thought we were going to enjoy a very special show in a nice theater. I don't want anyone to go through what we did so that's why we are writing this review. The show was very disappointing and the set up of the theater was very dangerous, And the parking situation was terrible. Shen Yun is more of a propaganda show than a dance performance. Don't waste you money.

I have been planning to see Shen Yun for years after seeing the billboards and commercials. The commercial claims Shen Yun will change your life. It did, but not for the better The Shen Yun performance was European ballet modified to tell tales of Chinese mythology performed to classical Chinese music. The main theme was how Communists ban and torture Falun Gong practitioners. Shen Yun is seriously promoting this belief. The Dunhuang Erhu or Chinese 2-string Violin performance was the best parts of the show. Half the stories told involved martial arts battles and the performers clearly had zero martial arts training. Moves were so repetitious from dance to dance the only difference was the change of costume. The singing was the worst part, all political with little to no vocal quality and extremely loud. This show went all out to make the crooked Communist Chinese government the bad guy beating up on the Falun Gong. There was a computer animated backdrop that the performers regularly interacted with. The animations were very rudimentary with quality you would expect to see in a middle school talent show. All this for $150.00 a seat plus tax. read more
