I've been a patient of Dr merritt's for over 10 years. I've never had a complaint. He's a great dentist. The last time I went for a cleaning they asked if my insurance had changed. it had not and when I was leaving they said you are all set, as was normal. I then received a bill for $160. I called and was then told, after the fact, that my insurance was not acceptable now. they also charged me a late fee even though I received the bill that same day. Bridgemill Dentistry Review Last summer my son and I planned a visit to Bridgemill Dentistry for a regular cleaning. When we arrived we were greeted, then had our teeth cleaned with zero issues. Never was a question asked regarding our insurance from beginning to end. Two weeks later Bridgemill Dentistry contacted us to tell us we were not in their network. Immediately we asked why this was not conveyed upon our arrival (like most physicians offices convey). This is a difference between a FREE service and hundreds of dollars. We explained that we would have never accepted services had we been informed we were out of network. The business manager stated clearly how they did not care and to settle the debt. We attempted to make a payment equal to an in network payment. They refused the payment. This all ended with being served in a small claims court of Cherokee county. Not only are we responsible for paying a ridiculous amount for a service that should be free, included in our insurance premiums, but we are saddled with attorneys fees and court costs as well. read more

I was on my honeymoon and a tooth that had a cavity ended up cracking in half. I'm not from the area and this dentistry was the only one who could get me an appointment that day. The whole process was smooth and absolutely amazing. Dr. Cox was the dentist who fixed me up that day and was friendly and knowledge about everything. Worst dentist in the area! He caused massive damage to my wife's teeth and wouldn't take responsibility for the damages. After reading the chart which said "LATEX ALLERGY" he proceeded to complete the entire procedure with latex gloves causing huge pain and swelling, she got over that to realize he bonded the veneers with the wrong color adhesive. He than tried to cover his butt but ripping them off and caused unrepairable damage, he didn't tell her in the process he had ripped her teeth off. When the veneers started to fail later, she went back only to be told to fix it she would have to pay for the whole process again and they accepted no responsibility. These people are horrible, question them and instantly you are shunned. Do yourself a favor and go up the street to the other dentist on Sixes, at least they know what they are doing. Their offices are furnished well and make you feel like you're entering someone's home rather than a clinic - no fluorescent lighting here! Dr. Merritt is who I primarily see and he is fantastic. Whether a routine check-up or a more involved procedure, he always makes sure you feel comfortable and will walk you through any questions or concerns you may have. Dr. Merritt also makes sure that he puts in quality face time with each and every patient. He remembers family members, workplaces, schools, etc. As a UGA grad himself, I'm always happy to talk about Athens with him and past memories. I haven't had as much experience with Dr. Cox since he is a recent addition to the team but every interaction I've had with him has been a pleasant one. Our entire experience with BridgeMill Dentistry was excellent. Love the online patient forms so everything can be answered before the visit. Office is beautiful, tidy, and clean. My daughter enjoyed her time with her very thorough dental hygienist as well as her exam with Dr. Cox. Sincerely appreciate the time he took to explain the work that needs to be done on DD teeth and the no rush approach. I was relieved to learn they use composite fillings instead of amalgam. The front office staff are all knowledgable, professional and very helpful as well. Bringing my son next week as well so I'm hoping to make this our new family dentist.
