"Bridgehead Shell" is a gas station in the City of Oakley, CA. YES, Oakley! The border with Antioch is about 1/2 a block away. I rarely come out this way anymore, but when I do I like to stop at Bridgehead Shell. I got some history with this place. I used to have a job with a national audit company, and back in the 90's we drove out here at 4 AM to do stock and fuel audits. It was a different time back then. In the old days, this gas station was super busy at 6 AM. It must have different owners now, the place looks boring. On a Friday, around 430pm, I was the only one getting gas. The foodmart was plain, with no promo signage. Limited selection of snacks and candy. The cashier was very friendly and nice. Looks like the carwash is run by REBEL now. Maybe the foodmart is a REBEL C-store. But there's no signage yet. read more

I stopped this morning to get gas and a car wash before heading out of town. The card reader at the car wash wasn't working, so against my better judgement, I put a $20 bill in. I paid for a $14 car wash, and the machine said there was no change, to see attendant. I went inside to get my $6 change and the older male clerk tried to give me a $1 bill. The receipt that the machine printed didn't print correctly and the clerk told me my change was $1. I asked him how much the highest priced wash was and he told me $14. I told him again that I put a $20 bill in, but he said he's only giving me a dollar. I let him know again that I put a $20 bill in the machine, and why would I waste my time to park and go inside to argue with him over $6. He was rude and I ended up telling him that he was a crook and I left so frustrated. Never again will I buy gas, a car wash or even a pack of gum here. Nope! read more

They really need to get a better cashier. James is mentally incompetent to understand that a passport is a form of an ID, and you don't need an ID as long as you have a passport. It's so funny that I went to ampm with no problem with my passport. I also went to Chevron with no problem with my passport so if I was you, I would definitely pick somewhere else to get help. Oh, and then let's top it off. He said that it's store policy that they can't accept passports. read more

Came in to get some propane and the girl at the counter was super helpful, she was working alone on top of that pregnant,so I had to wait for her to finish up with all the customers, and when she came out she was very polite and apologized for the wait , which was maybe 3 min , it's nice to get good customer service like this , didn't get her name but thank you! read more

I went in to buy a Monster energy drink, I approached the counter to pay and the cashier greeted me with a loud fart. We exchanged smiles, I paid, and went about my day. 5 out of 5. Will recommend to friends. read more

Signage for cost of gas at the main entrance on Bridgehead Road was incorrectly posted when compared to actual cost of gas at the pump. Once I started pumping my gasoline, I noticed it was 10 cent more per gallon than posted. I went inside to advise the attendants of the price inconsistencies, and they insisted that it was posted correctly without double checking the signs. Later, one attendant went out to check and saw the price mistake on the sign that I complained about. The manager would not refund me the 10 cent difference per gallon nor she did not apologize for their error. In my opinion they demonstrated poor customer service for these reasons: 1) their harsh tones when speaking 2) not owning their mistake 3) not honoring the price posted on the main sign. read more

Gas pumps stop at $75.00 and at $5 per gallon, cannot fill up. Overpriced if you don't buy a car wash, total rip off gas station

My parents and I have been loyal customers to this Shell station for the 20 years we've lived in Oakley, and until recently we had had nothing but pleasant and good experiences there. Today's experience, however, undid all 20 years of that. My husband and I were heading up to Sacramento to deal with some business, and on the way out we stopped here to fuel up. While he pumped the gas, I went inside to buy something caffeinated for the trip. I picked out a 9.5oz Starbucks Coffee Frappuccino from the case, took it to the register, and waited several minutes for the one clerk working (her name was Ruby) to stop sweeping the floor to come ring me up. I was charged $2.14 for the drink (though it sounded like Ruby said $4.10 at first - her English really needs some work), paid, and left. We had gotten on the freeway before I unwrapped the cap and saw a mold-like substance around the top of the bottle, which prompted me to check the expiration date. The date was July 19, 2010. Yes, an expiration date of OVER one year ago on a product I purchased at 10am this morning. Needless to say, I did not open the drink or consume any of it. I called Starbucks to let them know this had happened, because I felt they should know someone was selling product that is over a year old, and decided to take the drink back when we came home. We get back to Oakley at about noon, and I go inside the store to return the beverage. I tell the gentleman behind the counter (David) that I purchased it this morning, and show him that the expiration date is over a year ago, and tell him I'd like my money back. He says, "You could not have bought that here, because I do not sell that size bottle here." I again say I did, in fact, buy it there, and show him the empty slot in the refrigerator case that it came from. "No, that is an empty slot for a can, not that bottle. You could not have bought that here." (For those keeping score, that's twice now that he has essentially called me a liar.) We go back to the counter and I ask him to scan the item and see that it comes up in his system. "Of course it will come up, I sell that brand of product here, so yes, that barcode will come up in my system, but you could not have bought that here. (Three times.) At this point I ask for the 800-number to call his corporate office, and my husband walks in and tells David that this is a health code violation and that we can very easily get someone out there to go over the place with a fine-tooth comb. Then the guy's manager comes in, and when we explain the situation to her, she tells David to issue the refund. I again insist that he scan the bottle and see that it does, in fact, come up in their system, and with his manager watching he does scan it, and sees that it does come up as being $2.14. At this point I requested that he apologize for calling me a liar, and my husband and I tell him that if he still doubts my having bought the product there he should check his security tapes from that morning. He goes into the office to do that, but gives up before finding us, and comes out to talk to us again. He begins an apology directed at my husband, who says, "No, you apologize to her." David says, "Yes, her, too." and my husband says, "No, you apologize to just her. You didn't call me a liar, you called her one, so she gets the apology." David got a look on his face like he was eating something very bitter and said he was sorry. My husband then informed him that he had lost our business for good, all because he refused to give basic customer service to a dissatisfied customer. My advice is that if you find yourself needing gas or refreshments while passing through Oakley, go to the Chevron or Arco stations that are located across the street from this Shell. read more

Bathroom not open at 1:45am 7/15, per rude clerk listening to headphones on both ears. OK. No receipt outside so Went in for receipt, clerk rolled her eyes as she had to walk back to the register to print my receipt. If you hate your job then quit. SMH. The curvy Caucasian girl that works here is SO nice! Usually has her hair in a ponytail. Sorry for the physical description but didn't catch her name. It's very refreshing to run into people who seem like they appreciate their job and life! Lost one star because they have a lot of homeless or loitering people outside. They should tell them to move on, or call cops. No good comes from people who have nothing to do. read more

Be careful going here! I went to the pump and selected the carwash; filled up and couldn't get a receipt to print. Asked the cashier to print my receipt - it didn't show the carwash so I had to buy it separately. Once I got back to my car, I realized I'd been charged the REGULAR price for gas instead of the DISCOUNTED price for buying a carwash. Well, the cashier couldn't do anything about that so I asked for a refund on the carwash. That's the 2nd time they've done that to me recently! read more

Do not use credit cards here. The lady in the counter stole my second mom's credit card and is using it. She told the manager and they said that it wasn't their problem and needs to go to the bank to take care of it. Shady workers. Never trust them. Just don't go to this gas station about it. read more

I live right down the street and this is the only gas station I end up going to. Never had any issues paying at the pump and getting gas. The pumps are never shut down like others. No issues and no complaints from me. read more

The clerk was the rudest I have ever seen. However, the Manager the next day was very helpful, gave me the Shell contact info and they came thru with a $1 credit on the next gas fill up. The cashier asked the pump number was upset when I didn't know and had to look. I asked about a new card I was using and I got another rude comment. As I left I said it wouldn't hurt to smile. Her reply "I don't have to!" and proceeded to chase me out of the store. Then the car wash stopped in the middle & I had to squeegee off the soap from my vehicle. After her tirade, I was literally afraid to go back into the store to ask for a refund for the car wash and go through dealing with this person. The sign says gas is $3.45 but its really $3.65, don't be fooled, go to the ARCO across the street.

I love this lil place been going there for years and the people are so friendly and helpful. The store is well supplied and clean. I love the fact that this station has green grass and lots of trees.....it makes it look nice....Thank you to All who work there.... read more

This place is no good, there are a lot of people who look up to no good hanging around and the night staff isnt all that great.
