The Madoo Conservancy presents a microcosm that flows along walking paths through different aspects of the 2-acre plot of land, all the while focusing on the plant life that Dash has cultivated since the garden's conception in 1967. Dash's garden presents a fundamental attitude -- plants are the dominating forms, structures are secondary. Madoo is a space ever changing, with seasons, new plantings, and repainting of outdoor furniture and structures to reflect the magnificent horticulture that thrives here. The garden is open every Wednesday and Saturday from the beginning of May until the end of September, from 1:00pm to 5:00pm. Admission is $10.00, which fee is used for the garden maintenance. Photographs are permitted; strollers, dogs, children under the age of 6 are not. Separate tours may be arranged for groups of 10 or more.

I was so glad I found out about the Madoo Conservancy as it was the perfect activity for our last day in the area. It was peaceful, lush and full of little surprises. We found little areas here and there along the path. I loved all the pops of color throughout the garden. I would love to return. If you are in the area, this is a must visit.

Romi and her team were able to create a paradise within the confines of conservation guidelines. Just a beautiful paradise! In the past, the entire property was tedious to manage and care for, but Romi figured out how to make it all (nearly) maintenance free. During this pandemic, her team followed all protocols. I can see that she treats all who work for her with respect and love, which is very important to us as well. Romi stops by just to check on how plantings are progressing, and she has amazing sources with good hearty plantings. She gets back to texts, calls, and emails right away. Very responsive. Her services also have a very good quality/cost ratio. A beautiful job without breaking the bank. I'm grateful for Gardens by Romi!

They accommodated some last minute travel conflicts and helped me make it to my friend wedding in the nick of time! The rooms are perfectly decorated to feel unique and cozy but not overdone. The floor plan is extremely clever because they utilize a slat wall to separate the bathroom area from the room, with the tv mounted flush. This design eliminates wasted space and creates a circular flow to the room which made it feel much more spacious. The rules were lax, in that they let adults be adults as long as they act like adults. The staff was attentive and the amenities in my room were luxurious and some were even complimentary. It's easy to get to the Main Street in town and central to all the best beaches. Great for instagram photos too! Definitely enjoy a stay here and you won't be disappointed. Special thank you to Angela and Jose for making me feel so at home.

Friendly staff, central location and a great new selection of native plants--lots of choices now!…read moreIt used to be hard to find native plants for sale on the East End (plants like the ones you see happily growing in nature preserves or along hiking trails in the woods). You'd have to order online or search every display table at our local retail outlets, and then check to be sure those are really Long Island locals, attractive to birds, nourishing for pollinators and hardy enough to grow in our mostly sandy or loamy soil. Native plants don't need fertilizers or even much water after they've settled into the right place, so you're not wasting money or resources. Wittendales has clearly labelled "LI Local" pots with blue and yellow stickers (think Swedish flag colors), along with posters, signs, and a binder with plant care tips. If you need help coordinating plants that play well together , I'm told their displays of color coordinated "companion plantings " will change as the growing season progresses. Also, they have reasonable prices!
