Set in the picturesque village of Crickhowell, although plopped right on the outside is this lovely pink building. I'll be honest, The Vine Tree is very small inside and very expensive but you'll quickly learn that Crickhowell is not your McDonalds type of place. Remember the old saying; you pay for what you get, well that's pretty true of the Vine Tree. I'd recommend any outsider visit Crickhowell and to attend the vine tree whether it be for a pint and a chat or a full blown meal. Well worth the treat and cosiness that the countryside has to offer. If its warm there are one or two picnic benches outside but the road is pretty busy so your better off hopping over to the Bridgend beer garden, if its a day in the sun your after.

Tried to charge me £5 for a couple slices of cheap white bread cut into triangles. Lamb dinner was tough, tasteless with boring veg. Would not have been out of place at a bad office Xmas dinner or your cheap cousins wedding. The atmosphere was terrible as we couldn't have a conversation because we were seated by the bar where the staff would gather to ignore the food ready bell and talk loudly about how bad other customers were. At one point the rude head waitress loudly complained that a "bunch of bikers" has just arrived.

The food took an inordinate amount of time to arrive and when it my friends burgers were not cooked and still pink in the middle, the chips served were also undercooked. I had the nut roast - which was a very small portion, covered in cheese and had been microwaved at some point (note to people who work in kitchens - cheese once melted does not microwave very well). All in all very dissapointing - with hindsight our packed lunches in the rain would have been a better option.
