What did happen was not locking in at 4.75% (blamed it on us) locked at 5.25% to pay $13,000 to refinance a house that was already at 5.25%. Went with him because he said Provident was the best rates, blah, blah, blah. and the fact he would get equity out to purchase property for college student and NO money out of our accounts. Well, then told it would be $12,000 out of pocket due to terrible appraisal, lots of errors on appraisal. Well, a week before supposed "closing again", My husband asks why the discrepancy in the amounts. Oh! well now it's $22,000 out of pocket. He wasn't going to tell us. Thank God we read the paper. Ended up taking over a month longer. Seller was mad, real estate agent mad, we are mad. He points the finger at us or Provident, or economics, or always someone else. Even though he didn't do things in the timely manner in which we got things to him. He doesn't know really what is going on in this day and age. Too out of touch but wants to get money $5,000 commission so, he will say anything to get you hooked. BEWARE!!!! We will never do this with anyone like him again. We should have gone with Travis Credit Union. We knew up front what the deal was and it would have taken less time and no broker commission fees. It would have been strictly an equity loan and that would have been that. I guess when someone says they can do it. Get proof prior! At least we have a place for son to live. Try to take that away ED. NO CHANCE!
