Luke was our personal trainer for 6 months before he moved to Temple (from Houston). Prior to working with Luke, neither my fiancée nor I worked out regularly. His approach was to build up our strength and movements gradually to make sure our bodies could adjust. He was very cautious about not causing injury and took the time to explain the background and science behind muscle movements, strength training, importance of stretching and other components. Our workout schedule was 3 times a week and we both noticed marked improvements in our strength and muscle tone. We initially started with light weights, but improved to the point where we were using 20/25lbs weights with no problem on certain exercises. In addition to the improvements and progression we noticed in our training, we absolutely loved working with Luke. He is very genuine and truly cares about helping his clients. I can't recommend Luke enough. He worked with my two elementary school children until his career moved him out of Houston. Luke created friendly, motivating, and fun sessions that helped us reach our fitness goals for our kids. One of our desires was to empower the kids to own their own strength and wellness. We also wanted them to get into the habit of finding active things to do, even when it's not aerial day, or a great outdoors day. Luke has a warm personality while also being strong and inspiring. Master Vining and Mrs. Vining are absolutely wonderful! I started bringing my son here at 4 years old and he was very shy and reserved. He's 5 now and has completely blossomed thanks to their Little Ninja program. It has helped his self confidence, balance and coordination and his motivation. And looks forward to every class! BCMA is not just a martial arts studio, it's a family too. I thankfully stumbled across their cardio kickboxing program a little over a year ago and I didn't realize then how much I needed a place like BCMA. Besides gaining a far better quality of life physically, this place helped heal my soul. I lost my mother just months before becoming a student there and it helped fill that void. The Vining's (Master Vining & Mrs. Vining) welcomed me as I was, no judgment, and have treated me like family since the beginning. My daughter is in the juniors class and is beginning to develop more confidence and maturity. The instructors take time to help each student and work with them where they are at. I can't say enough good things about Dane, Brian, Brisa, Trent, and the instructors in training. Between cardio kickboxing and the juniors class, I am literally there every day they are open. The McDonald's (Luke & Dane) bring a new chapter to BCMA. They manage to not only maintain what makes BCMA already special, but also add more to reach even more of the community. From personal training, nutritional guidance, MMA clubs, and looking to incorporate more self defense classes. Master Vining (business owner and lead instructor) has been in Martial Arts for 37 years. He knows what he's doing, how to teach and instruct others to do so, and has the credentials to back it up (inducted into the Martial Arts World Hall Of Fame in 2012). As solid as an instructor's credentials may be, that doesn't always make him/her a great teacher. Fortunately, Master Vining is a solid practitioner of his respective arts (Tang Soo Do, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and Krav Maga). He places a strong emphasis on the basics, and whether it is grappling or striking, movements are broken down in a natural and logical progression. He covers the "whys" and "hows" throughout each lesson. My kids (6 year old boy and an 8 year old girl) excelled quickly in the environment and culture he set. I appreciate his standards and expectations before, during, and after class. Respect is reciprocated, expected, and earned. Attention is also given to developing strong values and character. In addition to all of this, they are 100% upfront and honest about their membership fees and contracts. Talk to Yvonne at the front desk and she will be happy to take care of you.
